I would also like to know how to make it sound like someone is yelling for you from a distance. I just think knowing how to do those things would be really fun. Also thanks for the video. It was very helpful.

  • That's a great tutorial. I'm very impressed with your "B" and "P"; very clear and convincing. (I've been practicing pretty intensively for a while--only just recently stopped myself from using g for b.) My ultimate practice phrase: "The Pope probably prefers purple pajamas." When I can say that without moving my lips I'll post the video.

  • @ukedelics Thannkd glad it helped. I have a new video and the whole routine has only words that start with B! Check it out. It's on my channel called "Extreme Ventriloquism"

  • Terry, is there a difference between the distant voice and the muffled voice or are they the same?

  • you should make a movie with one of your dummies

  • @sunnigirl2327 I've made several videos of me with my vent figures. I hope to do a live show soon and make a feature video of it. Stay tuned!

  • Although the video wasn't as informative as I hoped it would be, it was totally entertaining. The "what do you use these hands for" joke was superb. You've got great timing, mate :) But it all still looks too hard for me :(

  • This guy is awesome!!!

  • @The16Kinder ????

  • awesome dude you helped me out a lot

  • Wow! that was great.

  • sooo goood

  • Dude your like the bast teacher, Thanks. Am planig on getting a ventriloquist puppet you know any cheap websites please let me know, Thanks.

  • the phone part is cool!!!!!

  • I have metal retainers behind my teeth that are right where my gums and teeth for the most part, meet. I found I can't make the P, B, and M sounds... should I give up or do I just need to practice more? I have a few "speaking competitions" coming up in a few months and I want to use ventrilloquism to my advantage if I can, but I'll just have to find something else original if I can't.

  • @Krome08

You can try using f and v for b and p as Edgar Bergen did. Can't help you with m. Sorry. :C

  • Thanks for your help. It's really helped me a lot! I just need a puppet now.

  • I've been watching your uni vids, mainly because I ordered a Coker recently. You're very entertaining and seem quite nice. By the way, you look just a bit like Ray Romano... seriously, you do lol

  • how do u talk with your lips not moving i cant get that

  • Wow, cool, and ur also 54!!r u vegetarian?

  • i dont know where to start

  • Truly Exceptional! - Thank you for sharing your skill and sense of humour with everyone interested in either being a Ventriloquist or in Ventriloquism as an ancient form of entertainment - Breathtaking!

  • Wow! This is more descriptive than the last vid I watched! Thanks.

YES! I got the M down.

I think I got B now. Yes, I got it!

    P is an issue. Wait . . . kinda like a 'th' . . . only a little harder. I think I got now. Thanks a bunch!

  • I really don't get how to you know actually not move my lips. I can beatbox. But I cant do this! Please help me!

  • whats marmalade??

  • @iampguy marmalade is a type of jam.

  • Wow! Terry you are a great teacher. I'm a ventriloquist and have done several performances over the years but never fully understood the distant voice. I got perfectly because of your video. thanks your the best!

  • @ttt8699:

Now the challenging part would be on how to make the sound come from elsewhere instead of my direction.

    P.S. Greeting and salutations.

  • How do you get a dummy though? I got the lack of lip movement down. But how do you get a doll? All the ones that are for sale are ones that other people use. Is there a place that can make original ones?

  • Hi Terry I am a new ventriloquist and I'm having some trouble with the m and b because I make the D and N sound so how do I do i touch it firmily against the back of the teeth with repitition?

  • good stuff

  • Hello! How are you?

    That's lame.

    I know :)

  • this is fucking insane!

  • you are goooooooood

  • I still have problems with w,b,and m

  • i'm kinda learning here well...... not much

  • You rock dude xD Pretty awesome to get an inside look

  • it always fascinates me how they don't move their lips yet speak so clearly

i've tried doing that sometimes but all I sound like is a blur of noises

  • When I first started vantriloquisem it sounded like my puppet was french. Im still haveing troble with w and f.

  • Ok question..

  • Thanks for the tips!

  • thanks for the help i posted some videos of me doing ventriloquism can you tell me what you think

  • Hi Terry, I went to a special ventriloquism school in germany last year and I have to admit: It took 2.5 days for them to tell the truth behind what you do in 7 mins. Brilliant technique you have, perfect non-lip moving ...last but not least: Thank you for sharing your secrets with us. Would love to see much more of your skills and performances with your "partners" ( I dont call them puppets :-) )

  • i speak german but i lernad with him :-O

  • My pleasure thanks!

  • wow that was really helpful good job

  • Glad it helped thanks!

  • Good Job.

  • Awesome. 5/5 from me too. My problem is with the so called "ventriloquial voice". How does one do that? Would you care to post a video on that pls?

  • thanks, yeah i'm planning on another hopefully soon.

  • ttt8699 dude you are so good. you need to go pro!!! 5/5 i rated subbed and fav +commented

  • Thanks. I used to perform on stage a lot and did a few TV guest shots and other stuff here and there.

  • I have a problem because I cant do the M sound it's so hard or the B sound because I kind of Muffle and I'm not very coordinated when using my hand as a puppet. Icant either find a good puppet voice and when I use more than one I get messed up

  • I had the same problem I just kept at it but it took time.

  • Did you teach Terry Fator ventriloquism ?

  • haha no, but I was doing the "out of sync" godzilla bit LONG before he was even born, lol!

  • great video but i really don't get it it's so frustrating i have look at many other videos but i just can't do it :(

  • I hear ya it can be frustrating just keep at it and look in the mirror and/or video tape youself then watch to see your progress.

  • just one question i dont quite understand where to put the tongue for the B sound? could you explain where exactly??? thx

  • I use the very same position for both letters to start. The tip of tongue gently pressed against back of top teeth with the tip also slightly touching the beginning of the top pallet. Try holding your bottom lip and substitute your tongue for your bottom lip to make p,b,m letter sounds. do this without trying to use ventriloquism.

  • That was a GREAT TIP!

  • Thanks!

  • you are amazing thx it really helped man!!!

  • Glad it helped you. :)

  • help me so much thank you

  • Very happy it could help! :)

  • This is thucking hard... Oh eye cant i do this??!

  • Thery good! Except you need to string the letters:

O-I together to make it sound like Y, why.

  • Yeah I elaborated a bit in a few similar posts above.

  • Terry is the undisputed master guru of the technical aspect of ventriloquism. Super awesome video, looks like all the info someone needs to do great vent.

After that, practice and watch this video over and over. I've seen Terry perform and I gotta say, he knows his stuff...!

  • Haha thanks Dan. I've been watching your amazing growth as a vent figure maker, and I must say you have become a MASTER at it! Congrats. You have created such a wide variety of vent characters it boggles the mind!

  • do you keep your teeth toutching or spaced?

  • Most of the time my teeth are just slightly touching, to help keep things stabilized, but you never want to "clench" your teeth. Try to look as natural as possible, and react to your character as you would with a real person.

  • Brilliant, I shall be referring to this delightful video again and again, hope to see more of your undoubted talent. Hazel x

  • Thanks I'm glad it was of some help.

  • do u know how long it would take to become pretty good at it
