i can never get over how warm hearted, kind, and honest doc watson seems to be... i never met the man and I respect the living hell out of the way he looks at life.
bert lloyd popping up on youtube again!! check out his cameo in moby dick!!- this is part of a tv programs made in the 60s i think about folk music from all over-
I wish I could play like that. I guess that wont happen but Ill certainly try. Im kinda new with banjo anyway. Hehe. The Cuckoo is one of my favorite songs and THE first song I learned 2 play on guitar. (guitar is no problem...Haha!)
if you can play it on the guitar, you should be able to play it on the banjo with a little bit of practice, dont put your self down at all. ask the LORD to help you, and he will friend.
I would love to know where you found this. It just brings back so many memories for me. The lady making quilts is Ora Watson, her husband Willard was one of the best woodcarvers ever and one of the biggest Moonshiners around lol
I feel very fortunate to have been around Bluegrass in time to see legends such as Doc, Merle, Del, Vasser, ect. They are the pioneers of this great music that I cherish, and feel running through my veins all the time...even if I am not listening to the music. I agree with you..it is hard to imagine a world with out such quality musicians...but I am sure their will come along a select bunch of pickers that have taken enough from our legends, and contribute to the sound of great bluegrass.
Anyone know what tune Doc is playing in the opening of the video?
