Ive never been impressed by Nadal's game. I admit that it obviously has to be at a high lvl with him being number one and all but its not exactly pretty to watch. Federer on the other hand i could probably watch his matches all day and never get tired. There 2 contrasting styles, Nadal on one hand hits nearly every ball extremely hard and long and has almost no short game whereas Federer plays smarter and more beautiful tennis from all kinds of crazy angles. I respect them both but Fed's my fave

We dont know what Nadal might do, he might decide that he has no more goals and gives up. Has a family enjoys his money, is still young. I think Federer has been so consistant for years that people are shocked that he is not playing how he did. I think they forget he is also human and playing to such a high level has to take its toll. There are a few big hitters coming through who can beat Nadal and have no fear of him. That was not the same with Roger. Even now Nadal is being beaten while at his best. Im sure it will all add to the game. But I wouldnt right Roger off just yet, he has more gears, just watch.

I agree with CASPER10666, that Fed is only human. He has been so great for so long but eventually you hit a low period. That's where Fed is now. He will climb back to the top spot. Tiger has been the same in golf. He dominates most of the time but he's had periods where he didn't play good. Roger is too good to write off, he will be back. Fed should pass Pete by next year with the most majors.

Your talking about what Nadal MIGHT do, we are talking about what Federer HAS done, its fact. Nadal is only 22 and his knees are knackered, they are constantly strapped now, his hands are constantly strapped now. Roger has no stress injuries at all and thats even with 5 years on him. They are two entirly different players, Nadal is a power hitter, Roger is a tennis player, sheer class. No one plays the game like he does.

All is just speculation-however i must admit if rog was playing against Pete in his prime, i would say Pete would have a 60 per cent chance of winning on grass opposed to feds 40 against Pete-hard courts hard to say-clay well we know the answer to that, not that Pete was a horrendous clay court player. Nadal got his game spanked by Djoko last night, he didnt stand a chance Djoko was amazing. Pete was very good in his day, you cant compare Pete and Federer as they are different players, but when Fed beat Pete in 1999, Tim Henman then put Fed out. Its the over all consistant record you have to look at. No one would say Federer is not sheer class. He will be back.

That is your opinion-Agassi still won the Australian open and was still playing at relatively the same level, was rendered inadequate a few times against Fed-Nadal-weaker opposition, djokovic weaker, Nalbandian-inconsitent, but hardly weak. If it is a fact of weaker opposition then the greatness of fed is balanced by the fact that he was able to win so many in such a short time-similarly if was playing during Petes reign, Pete most certainly would not have won fourteen grand slams. Point was no one was playing like Federer was, he took the game to a new level, but he is only human. Look at Borg, he gave up the game at 27 and didnt have anywhere near the speed of the game there is today. Federer is just sheer class, Nadal struggled today lets just wish them good luck and see who keeps pace with who going forward. Tennis scores no matter what. Tennis is about talent and alot of hard work. Football there is 11 players to share the burden.

I think Tennis is very lucky to have such great sportsmen in the game just now. There is more bad manners within the fan base than the guys themselves. Nadal has done very well but staying at No 1 is far harder. I dont believe for one minute that Roger is out, I think taking a break from the kind of presure he has dealt with over the last 5 years. I think playing at that level does take a price and his health was not good since Nov07, glandular fever doesnt bet better in weeks it takes months if not years. Federer is too good a player and Tennis would not be the same without him. We are lucky to have such great players in tennis just now. I just wish people would get behind that rather than all this stupid slagging which goes on. Its sad.
