  • A few slides into the video you will see a bloke in RAF uniform - that was Leading Boy Entrant Dave Moss - a good friend of mine and provider of some of the photos. We did our Advance Training together as Air Wireless Fitters. I saw Gen at many locations, along with a lot of other Rockers - those were the days of real rock !

  • @david12lloyd Well that's a coincidence, amazing to put a name and life to these people. One of my first postings on YT, no idea where I got these photos other than somewhere off the internet.

  • Saw Gen and the Outlaws in Swindon 1964 - that was reall rock and roll - none of the tinny stuff you get nowadays !

  • Chas Hodges on bass I believe...

  • @doubleotwentyone ...and Ritchie Blackmore on lead guitar I believe!

  • @SirBasildeBrush - Gene is the guitar player.

  • @DougThomas80 ah!

  • Gene Vincent does Reggae!

  • @666popey666 yeah, kind of a ska beat!

  • Love<3<3<3...

  • THIS IS BOSS.

  • this is great.

  • Poor version ,The Outlaws were a real step down for GV. Lousy guitar...c'mon! The other version is superb.

  • Real good version. Real British feel about it. Gritty, compaired to the US version. although both are very good.

  • the outlaws were joe meeks backing band and played on many hits of the 60's

  • but also Mike Berry's backing band.

  • absolutely, they were put together to be mikes band but joe then used them for his recordings as well as the tornadoes. They also recorded solo singles too

  • Interesting, it's a different cut than the one I uploaded!! I copied this to my library!! The guitar is fabulous!!!!

    Thanks Keith!

  • Thanks, but you do have that great female backing. yeah yeah!

  • lead guitar part from Ritchie Blackmore (futur lead guitar of Deep Purple)

  • @chezfun it's ritchie Blackmore on guitar

  • Done some research on the Outlaws and one of the original line up was Chas from Chas and Dave on bass guitar.

  • Now you mention it, I seem to remember that. Can't say I ever went for the C & D sound, but C's doing a nice job here.

  • and the lead guitar was Ritchie Blackmore who have found fame in the Hard rock Band Deep Purple.

  • Ive got a 45 by the Outlaws called swingin low. I picked it up in a charity shop over 25 years ago.Apparently it reached no 46 in uk charts 1961.Its kind of a shadows/duane Eddy type instumental.Anyone heard of it?

  • Not me, but sounds like a good one to have.

  • if its the Outlaws and I have my dates right then the guitar player is Richie Blackmore (pre-Deep Purple of course!)

  • Wow! That I didn't know.

  • Yes really better than his original, without the back up girls!

  • Wonderful version. If anything it's better than the original.

  • You could be right.

  • Nice unusual version of this great song, quite different from the 'record' version. Thanks for posting this one.

  • hi hugh - pleased to be of service. I'll be posting an alternative version of 'Summertime' soon.

  • Gene in THE SUPERMAN of ROCK-N-ROLL!!!

  • IS (not IN =)

  • He just 'had it'. Whatever it was, I wish I had some it.
