The new Transformers movie is giving me flashbacks to people complaining about the New Battlestar Galactica. But in my opinion both turned out pretty well. If I want to watch the old Battlestar, I'll watch the old one, if I want to watch Transformers G1, I'll watch G1.

There's nothing wrong with remakes and re-imagination if it's enjoyable. People just get too hung up and nostalgia blinded these days.
