@mrsandman818 KTM 950 is a great bike but u don`t want a big engine bike to go for a long distance travel. In the middle of nowhere u won`t find any spare parts or an engineer to look after your bike. You need a small, easy to use, simple engine bike. That`s why bikers that travels around the world usually ride 250cc/400cc or 600cc. Tenere XT has one cylinder engine, 22 lt tank (=550km) and a big seat, just perfect. And beside that who wants to go fast when the landscape is beautiful.......
@dan69girls420 Just commented on that......Yamaha USA are a bunch of dicks for not having this bike, huge market potential, wether inside the USA,Baja California or further South!Write to them, harass them, the USA needs this bike!
only if you do it before 2011. Then every bike must be 450cc or smaller. Privateers are allowed to run bikes greater than 450 this coming year only, then all must change to 450
I lke this bike, i like travel and don' t need so much power for go around... If you are one like the BMW guy -who like challenger everyone when he go from house to supermarket to show how much power have his BMW, don' t buy the XT660Z, buy at last some 200 horse power moto gp like Hayabusa Turbo.- Tenerè do in motorway 25 km/l x 22 liters = 550 km of autonomy. XT660Z engime is Minarelli electronic ignition pretty simple engime, low manutention and CHEAP. All for 6990 euro... Respect!

Move over BMW, I own a 1200GS and believe me. THIS BIKE IS GOOD BUT NO REPLACEMENT FOR THE BIG BEEMER. I have test riden this bike over 30-40 miles and couldn't wait to hand it back. No power, Ring Sting etc. My GS has the lot. Power, Smooth, Fast, Torque, easy even two up. Nice try Yamaha, but I would give it 3 out of 10.
man you judge it very hard!i got it fora a test drive last month and it sutisfied me!for a single cylinder engine is more than dood!also it is very comfortable off road!!!the only negative i could fine is that it hasn't abs and that the exhaust fried my backpack!!!
what! ah no thats a huge blow for me. I was gonna look into getting this but if it melts things I put on the back seat then whats the point? how fast is its 0-60 anyway do you know?
Ho una transalp 2001 650. E faccio quallo che fa lui nel video, ma poi in autostrada me lo mangio. 200 kg non sono pochi. Se vuoi divertirti prendi un 690 enduro ktm, non questo bilico con un motore poco potente
I sat on a Tenere today!! I take back what I said about the looks.. Great looking bike in the Flesh.. Seat is very uncomfortable compared to My 2008 Transalp.. Otherwise a Great Bike.. I suspect that it handles the rough stuff amazingly well.
That's your opinion, but I have been a mechanic for over 20 years so I think I know about engines thanks very much, I really hope you can do over 200,000 miles with yours! Honda=Legend, indestructible Mechanics.. Great ABS Brakes and great fuel economy. I'm not knocking other bikes either like you are. I'm glad you bought a V-Strom, I don't follow people like sheep that's all I form my own opinion on something.
Ugly bike.. Bet it handles well though.. I just bought the 2008 Transalp.. Very happy with it, nice V twin.. strong power delivery.. I was dissapointed with the Yamaha Dealers in my area.. at Honda they were very generous and let me test ride the bike for one hour and a half which helped me make a decision.. the engine, exhaust note and induction roar are very addictive!
Sorry to disagree but that V-Twin sucks, it seems a mono. I have a V-Strom and tested the new Transalp and got really very very disapointed: lousy brakes, the engine vibrates like a mono, it lacks power, no wind protection, no safety feeling when turning. Only better than the Strom on soil with mud or sand. And it's more expensive!

Hey beemer guy, thats like saying that a golf gti is no replacement for a bmw M5, yeah well, duh it costs like 5 times more!
And besides your g is too big and to heavy to take on really extreme terrain.
