this is my uncle's band. rayburn blake is my uncle. the one wearing the blue vest and linged sleeve shirt!! i grew up on this song because of my mom!! love it to pieces
what a band!! I just wish the radio would get off their corporate asses and play some of this on air..The sad thing is I live in Ohio about an hour away from the rock and hall of fame and you wouldn't know that with the same old stuff on the radio..this needs to be played!!!!!
Ive been trying to remember this tune for at LEAST ten years. It happens I posted the question on a Q and A site, and someone found it for me !! This is FANTASTIC. I love this song. Hearing it again takes me back to those good old times. Absolutely Terrific !!! It was on the radio A LOT in the 70s, and part of the tune popped into my mind one day... Now, here it is !!!! Thanks so much for posting it !!!
I love this tune! Had the 45 back in the day. It had some airplay in Chicago, but quickly disappeared off of the charts. It's still one of my alltime favorites, and have been able to replace my copy on CD. Thanks for the posting!
@mtzimm Thanks for the comment! I'm from complete different culture but this tune somehow pushes secret buttons in me and make me watch in one direction with the look of helpless dreamer... Which feels worm, comfortable and mindblowing at the same time.
Wish in present time someone make this kind of vibes.
April Wine, Alice Cooper, Alannah Myles, Kansas, Heart, Mitch Ryder, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Peter Frampton are coming to ROCK THE PARK LONDON ONTARIO JULY 23,24 2010. WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Yes, but Alanis Morrissette doesn't belong in the same mention with the Guess Who, Steppenwolf, Neil Young, and a few of the others you list; certainly not with the Guess Who, who had so many good songs.
Also Grant Smith & The Power; Blood, Sweat, and Tears; Copper Penny; Trooper; Motherlode; BTO; Lighthouse; Chilliwack; Triumph; Saga; Loverboy; Corey Hart; Kim Mitchell; Honeymoon Suite; Glass Tiger; BNL; Tom Cochran; Five Man Electrical Band; The Band; Gino Vannelli, Blue Rodeo, Crash Test Dummies, The Tragically Hip,......
I remember sitting in my mum's corvair, all day with the radio on ( almost killed the battery ) waiting for this song to come on..I finally saved up enough money to by the 45.. One I still have... thanks for sharing this video,, I still love this song ..
Very rare, very genuine!! I was a little kid when I first heard the song in it's Greek version - believe it or not!!:):) It was a big hit in Greece (the original and the cover). I'm so glad I can see now the video
DotChannel, I'm sorry but I don't know which label it was. As I said, I was just a kid and I had no idea about labels those days.... Back in the middle '60s to middle '70's we used to have many Pop groups in Greece. Some of them were bringing foreign songs of that era and putting Greek lyrics on. But the original songs were big hits as well
And, DotChannel, if my memory serves me right the Greek group which sang this one was the "Charms" but I have to do a bit or research because it's so long ago
This is awesome to come across this Video. The singer in the yellow T-shirt is my brother-in-law Lou Mitchell who passed away in 2000 with Cancer so this is a beautiful tribute to have of him. Thanks so much for posting.
when my love is calling me, this song plays from my phone and sometimes I wait a bit just to hear "true love" and then pick up and say "never die" to her
@kathronholmes i love this band but the singer is brian edwards, there is nobody named lou mitchell in this band unless all the write ups ive read are wrong
@kathronholmes amazing voice...sad to hear hes gone .. this is a greatly underrated canadian classic.. i fuckin love thos song.. sorry for you and your family's loss..tho it aint too well known i assume everyone thats heard this song loves it too.. anyway.. dont know what else to say so im gonna listen to it again before i pass out ..RIP Lou Mitchell..
They´re weird and in a way very musically different and almost of a "past era" but OH so very in tune... at the Festival Express. Thank God this footage exist. Hail Montreal.
I use to see this band play in my highschool in the early to mid 70;s in Moncton New Brunswick. I forgot about them and when I looked them up I was blown away. There was another band I liked called Killer Egg reminded me of them as well. has that east coast feel.
@BassBuffett well that's interesting that you say that because the songs reminds me of some of the best American surf rock, like Dick Dale and the Ventures, and those guys were also very influenced by Yiddish and eastern Mediterranean styles of music. Dale's most popular tunes were "Misrilou" and "Hava Nagila." It seems like with this song Mashmakhan found a way to take that surf component out of it but still mix that musical area with the psychedelic beats, very striking tune.
Oh well, Cs and Nash are great--but you have to admit these guys were tight, i was playin guitar in 1968 at my junior high in Michigan--and went on to listen and learn good vocals, and a lead axe that still smokes, learned vocals in chorus class in high school, can you play a smokin lead and sing vocal harmonies? 52 years old-i have been doing it for years, walk the walk-talk all ya want my friend! Rock on!
The opening is of Gerry Mercer who went on to fame as the still present drummer of April Wine. Check out his April Winev drum solos, especially the one of the solo drum roll with two flaming sticks while waving his arms all over the place. Unbelievable.
Fuckin' Canada, hogging all the music talent! :D
