These guys survived everyone they influenced...Beatles,Stones,Ramones,Cramps,Stray Cats,The Who;The fact that THEY are still alive AND Performing and more than half of the ones they influenced are dead is a miracle by itsself!
And to the loser by the ridiculous name of springsharkmotorgivinhead ;Rock'n roll is to be fun and rebelious and not about the right key or the right brand of instrument, you're a no good square cocksucker!
That's right. The Stray Cats were the coolest band in the eighties along SRV and Double Trouble. And they don't perform together, but last year they did it, at Brian's 50th birthday. And this guys are the originals, and I love them (JLL is a huge influence for me). And I think the Stray Cats are as good as them. Slim Jim Phantom performed with JLL, Lee Rocker with Scotty Moore and the Stray Cats jammed with ol' guys like Les Paul, B.B. King and Waylon Jennings too!
I disagree... I've seen them both numerous times over the past few years, and Jerry's not in as good as shape as Chuck and plays a shorter set than him... but Lord, that God given talent is still there and every song Jerry plays is fantastic! At 82, Chuck is the father of rock'n'roll and the ultimate rock legend... but if he wasn't Chuck Berry, he couldn't find work playing grade school talent shows- the talent and thrill is gone. 10 minutes of JLL is worth 60 of Chuck.
Oh, I love Chuck, and there's no doubt he did more than any other artist to shape the sound and spirit of Rock'n'roll. I'm just saying that in his 80's, understandably so, he is no longer the musician or singer he once was. I would still reccomend seeing him once or twice, but when you hit the or 8th or 9th time, you realize it ain't worth the money you're payin'. Chuck bangs on his guitar, forgets lyrics and doesn't sound too good. Still can do the duck-walk though! Crazy, man, crazy.
Chuck Berry is a living legend. He really keeps the feeling going on. And the Killer is doing fine too. This video is great. Berry's voice sounds great.
I was there. Really good show from Jerry and Chuck. I was totally surprised from Chucks part. I saw him 2 years ago in Bonn. This show was not the best one. But this show was excellent Chuck! 82years! Unbelievebel! Still the king of Rock'n'Roll guitar!

"if he wasn't Chuck Berry, he couldn't find work playing grade school talent shows"?
Dont you think you made the wrong question? If it wasn't for this guy there wouldn't probably rock'n'roll and that's it! There is no space for IF'S!

Chuck's guitar playing is still great - WHEN he finds the key.
Unfortunately that's almost NEVER....
