  • the bass player is one of my teachers at college ;]

  • Awesome band, two members of the band are lecturers at my University.

  • SO when was this performed?

    and thank you~!!

  • Remembering a wonderfull concert at Hyde Park (2002?) that had Mogwai, Cranes and The Cure in it. I think it was called A Night Like This. At least it´s what it says on my ticket.

  • "Witch House"

    BEAUTIFUL.

  • I saw them back in the day with The Cure on the Wings of Joy album. fell in love with them halfway though the first song

  • @sarys73 I saw that tour. They did Adrift at full volume at the end. It cost £20 I think and we heard 4 Cranes songs. The Cure came on and did dsome stuff from Wish after being half an hour late. It wasn't really worth £20 to see the Cure that night. It was worth £100 to hear those 4 songs from Cranes...

  • Never saw her playing guitar. she's so beautyful

  • superbe Alison

  • Does anybody here remember Alison Shaw?

  • What do you mean remember? Cranes are still making music today and haven't disappeared from the scene.

  • they headlined a show in SF in the early 90's and every time their gear would malfunction alison would say in the sweetest cutest voice "excuse us"

  • This is my vaforite cranes song has been for years...Thank you.

  • Alison's bass playig is very soulful...better

than when somebody else plays...but her main

    asset is her voice...

CRANES music can be very comforting...

  • If it can make you feel more comfortable, when I was 16 I dreamed living ten years before, in the 80's, so...

  • i was born i 92'...i always say that i was born in the wrong decade this one is boring and dull for my taste...the cure and the cranes...my two favorite bands...too bad i couldnt see em both at the same time

  • for a 'newer human' you have some fine fine music taste Kman =)

  • @kman22192 KMan, I am 44, and feel this way whenever I hear songs from the Summer of Love (1967) the year I was born. Let me echo the sentiment of wantthosedaysback...you do have exquisite taste ...I was 24 when this Cd was released , but it was still as much of a revelation then as now.

  • c'est vraiment le plus grand des groupes rien ne les surpasses

  • Another Great Song :).

  • they took me by surprise when they opened for the Cure in 1992, found Wings of Joy the next day....

  • Sure do, I just liked Matt 'cause he seemed to know his stuff, clearly a Fan/VJ. I miss all those old alternative shows, Remmember Night Flight on USA network?

  • I saw them on the Cure tour as well...blew me away. I had heard of them back in 89, but was happy to see them perform live.....EXCELENTE!

  • @RainbowMonkeeMittens

C'est space... mais bon ... je les ais vu en première partie de The Cure il y a 20 ans au Zénith de Paris... Particulier...

  • @RainbowMonkeeMittens Yes,I remember that alternative show on the USA network, and other Alternative shows that played underground music of the 80's and 90's.I miss the 90's.I never liked mainstream music back in that era of time.

  • My mistake I never realised how similar those two songs are. Do you remember Post Modern MTV and Dave Kendall on 120 Minutes? Yep, it is all stupid reality shows and some occasional hip hop now. No more M in MTV.

  • Remarkably similar songs, but this is "Leaves of Summer" from the 1991 "Wings of Joy" album (thanks for the assist in catching a possible mistake though!). Yea, I remembr the good days of 120 minutes, and Matt Pinfield, hell, who am I kidding, I remember the Martha Quinn! (still have a fan reply letter, I thought she was kinda cute)!. Beyond me why they still call it "M"TV, Bahhh to them now (but thanks for the good memories all the same)!

  • Isn't this Sixth of May though? I think they got the title wrong.

  • Cranes on MTV! Hard to believe they used to play good music. I miss those days.

  • First time I've heared them and become a fan 12 years ago, in 1994. Somebody will be surprised, but I live in Russia, Moscow. Many of my friends love CRANES too! They are realy greate!

  • Actually "Alison Cranes" gets the most hits. Even MTV called them "The" Cranes (note the descriptors in some of the vids available here). It was just a source of consternation for the band, which I wanted to make a point of here is all (the genie is out of the bottle on this one!). Glad you enjoyed the EP, I love a lot of different kinds/styles of music, and it's always great when you find those kind of enexpectedly pleasant surprises!

  • its actually alot more effective to to do a seach for "the Cranes " than Cranes when looking for them . Yeah I recall being the only person who know anything about them in the 90s . I found the ep for EG shining in a used bin from the UK in hawaii! Bought cuz I read some weird reviews in NME , I was floored by their completely unique feel and sound.

  • ok, i won't call them "THE" Cranes

[but i sho do nubb 'em!]
