  • wat do i need to set up three pintech cymbals if i just have a core ion kit

  • hey can u help me? I'm gonna get the Pintech TC 10' for my Hi-Hat from Hope Drums, but i also nee a ride cymbal too, what would u suggest? I was going to get the Drum Rocker one, but i agree with your video that its really loud compared to the Pintech ones..

  • I bought mine from rockbandparts. I've bought from them in the past and have always been happy with the quality of the parts...but it takes me like 10 days to receive my items. My fault since I live in Hawaii. I don't even play Guitar Hero so I wouldn't know if it works on it or not. I have the rock pedal, Roland PD-100 (red), Roland PD-8 (blue), 3 stock ion drums customized with Vic Firth drum mutes (which I highly recommend) and the 2 Pintech TC 10"s.

  • Hey wear did you buy these at? What website?

  • @14jvukov There's 2 links in the video info

  • Do they work with guitar hero? :P (im guessing not but if they do then cool :D)

  • I have two of these but I have problems when using just one or both at the same time for yellow and greens. System is calibrated manually. It happens when hitting certain combinations such as yellow cymbal with green cymbal and bass. I don't have the problem when using just ion cymbals, only these. Anyone else having problems with the TCs? Someone suggested the problem could be cymbal vibration or cymbal sensitivity (recall: issue happens on both TCs when used together or separately). WTF?

  • I dont understad whats going on with the 3 pack. So the 10" are the best ones to get for a good price apparently, but the 3 pack is $132? Isn't it cheaper just to get 3 of the 10" seperately? >_>... trying to save money here

  • @Rukenshin I just got (2) 10" and a 14" for my green cymbal and let me tell you its catching every note. I 100% a song no problem, and their just as quite as the ion pads. If not quiter. Im couldnt be happier with my purchase came to 132$ I believe but I had the ion cymbal mounts so I just paid for the cymbals.

  • I have 3 ion cymbals and they are so loud, I am looking to get 3 Pintechs, will these work ok with the ion mounts where the cymbals sit? Thanks

  • @RIBBERCAGE More or less, but you'll need to pick up a pack of cymbal sleeves and cymbal felts. You can 4-packs of each for like $5 from any music store.

  • @davidshek Awesome just ordered everything I needed, Thanks a lot. Can't wait to play these my ion cymbals are so lous even wearing headphones I still hear them and im having problems with sensitivity issues. Cannot wait to try these Thanks for the videos, thats what sold me along with your review on RB forums

  • @RIBBERCAGE You're welcome. I hope you enjoy. :)

  • @davidshek I just received them in the mail. I love them. Thanks so much for your video thats whats sold me. Their so quite I can actually play these in the middle of the night in my apartment. Thanks Again

  • @RIBBERCAGE Awesome!

  • @davidshek Great reviews, I picked up my kick pad and double bass based on your videos. Im going to oder these Cymbal but im not sure what Sleeves and felts to order. Do they come in different sizes? How do they mount to the Ion arms? Sorry for the newb questions.

  • @z3r0ko0l1234 PM me

  • whats the best site to buy the 3 pack from? hope or new england?

  • @Brando346 Whichever one is least expensive. They both drop-ship directly from Pintech.

  • @davidshek Thanks for the quick response. Also this may be a dumb question, but are the tc14s-16s-18s just as good in terms of quality with rockband as the tc-10? Because I noticed the tc10 does not come in the 3 pack.

  • @Brando346 The 3-pack is 1 TC10 and 2 TC14s...

  • @davidshek Oh right..sorry, i was looking at the one with the 14, 16 and 18. Thanks for the help, Ill be buying the 3 pack you just mentioned for sure.

  • did you buy the roland pad just for the ions?

  • @IBiteFairlyHard Nah I'd had it for a while before RB.

  • @davidshek You gonna make any more RB vidss?

  • can you only hit the padded area of the pintech cymbals or hit them anywhere? i heard they are made from plastic but they look flexible like rubber,

i want to get the 10 inch cymbal (PC10) and the 18 inch ride cymbal (PC18-2)

do these cymbals work with the roland td12k module

  • @finneykris You can hit them anywhere, but it will be significantly louder if you don't hit it on the pad. They are indeed made from plastic. And yes, they'll work just fine with a TD-12 module.

  • you just plug the cymbals to the module of the ion ? or u have to mod or something

  • @darksider1195 Just plug it right in. No modding required.

  • @davidshek That's Great !! im gettin those cymbals :D Thanks

  • Do the pintech cymbals come with the hardware needed to mount them on an ION drum rack?

  • @Gremoogles No

  • ok kinda off topic here. I finally got my ion in and have it set up. I really want to use double bass. I still have a fully functioning rock band 1 bass pedal but the size in the cables are obviously different of that of the ion module. What kind of adapter would i need to use to hook my rb1 pedal to the module. Also i saw at best buy the other day a rock band 2 pedal bundled with a coupler. could i use an adapter with that and the ion stock pedal?

  • @Kerpaltheballer PM me, answer's a bit too long to post mere

  • PROMT:

As you already enrage with the stupid game!!! it is impossible already informative to find video!

  • what are the sizes of the ports on the drum rocker module? Will any electornic cymbal work for rock band on the ion kit?

  • @Kerpaltheballer 1/4", and yeah most will, but not all.

  • I'll prabably sound like an idiot but whos wounded soul

  • @jesussk8r1231 My band. :)

  • @davidshek i thought so thanx

  • i was wonderng, where did you get the cymbal arm for the cymbal, and how much was it?

  • Do you know any way to fix the pintech cymbal ? mine just stop triggering

  • k ty.

  • pintech is good but how much are they and make a vid how to use them on the ion drums

  • They are $36, and there's no need for a video on that, they're just plug & play.

  • да как вы уже бесите со своей игрулькой!!! невозможно уже видео информативное найти! долб0ёбы...

  • ...wut?

  • does these work for the ps2?? plzz tell

  • The Drum Rocker? I don't see why it wouldn't.

  • The cymbal is really something you need to experience for yourself to do it justice. David did an awesome job with the video and ordered mine from NEMS. You won't be disappointed. :)

  • awesome cymbals

  • Yeah, I'm also wondering about the cost too. Since I'm thinking about buying the ion drum core for $199. And if i where to buy the Pintech cymbals, would they come with the arms too?

  • I believe I just answered that in my last comment 2 days ago. As for the mounting hardware, both Hope Drums and NEMS (again, links in video description) have packages that will include the cymbal, arm, cable, etc.

  • I"m new at this so please bear with me.

Since the Ion Drum Core doesn't come with any cymbals, and since i'm planning to just get two cymbals for now (the TC10 andTC14) i'll need to get:

    2 mono cables

    2 cymbal arms

    2 multi-clamps or 2 L-Rod clamps

I've found the cymbal arms and clamps on the sites, but nothing on the mono cables. Any ideas where i can find those?

  • You can get mono cables at Radio Shack, or any music store.

  • How much do the Pintech cymbals run for nowadays?

I'm looking into completely updating my kit. I already ordered an Alesis DM5, a nice kick trigger (I forgot the brand), & the new(ish) drum module for the Ion set. Only thing I have left to upgrade is the cymbals. I need both advice, & price ranges for the cymbals.

    Thanks!

  • Check out New England Music Supply or Hope Drums (links are in video description). The 10" TC cymbal goes for around $35.

  • David, your band sounds great, are you signed with any recording company? because you deserve to, your band is just so good.

  • We're not, unfortunately. I wish we were though! :)

  • you should send a track of your best song to a local company, not that i know of any in NC.

  • i just purhcased it and a 14" cymbal, i can't wait to try it out.

  • I got this in the mail and absolutely love it. Quick question; how come you don't use them for the crash and the ride? I'm kind of thinking about upgrading all 3 cymbals and am curious of your thoughts on it.

  • Because at the time I filmed this, I didn't have 3 of them yet. Check out my "Just A Girl" video to see my current setup.

  • I'm thinking about picking this up. Do I need a special adapter for it? Or is it plug and play?

  • What I meant is, is it plug and play into the Ion kit, or do I need an adapter for it.

  • no adapter necessary. it's plug and play

  • Awesome thank you. And btw, you've helped me immensely in learning how to drum with your videos. I've been playing for 6 months and have on a couple of occassions taken the next step with the help of your videos and tutilege. Thank you very, very much for that. You rock!

  • You seem to be the only one who thinks so, but thanks for sharing your opinion.

  • wtf man the singer is awesome!

  • in like 1 min and 55 seconds you downloaded 7% on the ac/dc pack :D lol

  • sooo? the ion cymbals and pads give a more realistic rebound

  • Who cares about the rebound of the pads? This video is about the cymbals. And the Ion cymbals are NOT realistic feeling at all. They're like hitting a piece of wood.

  • I do play on an acoustic set in school from time to time, but I can't really tell whether or not a cymbal is supposed to have lots of rebound (like an Ion cymbal) or less rebound (like the Pintech TC). Which one is more realistic?

  • If you play on an acoustic set, you should know that real cymbals have very little rebound, since you're not hitting them on the Bow anyway. Crash cymbals and hi-hats especially have none. Ride cymbals have more.

  • im having trouble screwing down the wing nut on top of my ion cymbals..thr just doesn't seem to be enough room and the threads on the wingnut dont reach the mount....any idea why?

  • That song Payback rocks! Thanks for showing us these symbals. cool stuff!

  • This looks cool. Im strongly considering getting the ions. I heard the horror of the cymbals not being able to keep up to faster songs. Are these cymbals good for fast hi hat songs like tom sawyer in terms of picking up notes?

  • Both my Pintech and my Ion cymbals can handle those notes just fine.

  • But are the cymbals required to play or can you play without cymbals?

  • They are not required. You can completely ignore them if you want. :)

  • If i were to replace the ion cymbals with this, do i still need mounting hardware or can i use the ion hardware

  • Nope, you can throw it right on the same mount. But I would advise getting at least a cymbal sleeve. Read posts #1-4 in the thread I linked to in the video description for what I'm talking about.

  • cool, thanks. Hopefully getting the ion this week

  • I do believe that the pintech is quieter but in this video it sounds just as loud as the ion's. I really don't see the big deal in their noise though, I mean welcome to the world of playing the loudest instrument ever created. That's why I couldn't play drums when I was a kid living with my parents. Kids today are lucky to have the "loud" rock band drums anyways.

  • Do u have to buy clamps, arms and the mounting hardware to put the pintech TC 10 on the ion drums?

  • Yes. The Pintech cymbal does not come with that stuff.

  • Do u know how much it all costs? Thanks.

  • There's a link in the info over on the right for this video. That link goes to a thread on the Rock Band forums where I laid out how much everything costs. Read posts #1-4.

  • hey, if i buy the pintech (for my DM5, not ION) will it come with the stands to connect it to the frame, or do i need to buy them seperately? and if i need to buy them seperately, where can i get some?

    thanks

  • No it does not come with any mounting hardware. You can get that at any music store. Guitar Center, Sam Ash, etc. You'll need a rack clamp and a boom arm.

  • do ya think you could find the right oned for me?? simply because i have no idea what im looking for and i really dont want to buy the wrong ones. it will be MUCH appreciated if you do

    thanks in advance =]

  • Sent ya a PM :)

  • thankyou very much=)

  • do u have any problems with your cymbals like you cant hit them to fast or it wont pick up

  • Nope, no problems at all.

  • KITTEH

  • Where did you get the stand for the new cymbal??

Does the kick trigger works with rb????

  • Guitar Center or any music store sells them. And yes, the Roland kick trigger works with RB with the help of a Kickbox.

  • thanks for the post david. do you think this expansion would work for the standard rock band 2 drums with a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter? Or any other cymbal than might work other than the crappy madcatz cymbals?

  • Unfortunately, it won't. I tried that and it didn't work :(

  • ok, thanks for the quick reply though.

  • the ion cymbals do work with the RB2 kit though. I've tried that.

  • I'm getting one for Christmas!

  • hey since u had the goodwoods can u message me and tell me which drums are good for me (has good rebound good sensitivity no dropped notes) I am a platinum icon drummer so please reply as soon as possible which drums ions or goodwoods. BTW nice ions!

  • lol

  • cool

    what number

  • I'm not sure I understand what you're asking :)
