  • i have an idea. Be a martyr for the cause. Eat nothing but steaks for a year and show us your new gut to put it all to rest once and for all

  • all of which eat insects btw. conveniently ignored of course.

  • Well done brother !

  • I'm still trying to figure exactly how they go about getting deer placenta?

  • TheRawvoice dont forget that if you eat carbs but dont use them then they can be stored as fat. This is especially true for fructose. There there are health experts that believe that fructose is a poison! I dont think so; I think it becomes problematic when you eat it and dont use it. For example grabbing an HFCS filled soda and sitting down to a movie. But of course its not an issue for you because you eat whole fruits with many antioxidants and then go biking or running and use it right

  • @DANGJOS I'm a vegan, although not raw. Either way, it's important to remember that carbohydrates is your bodies preferred source of fuel. So many people worry about excess carbs being stored as fat. True or not the same people that worry about that don't think twice about shoving huge quantities of animal fat down their throat. Whats worse.excess calories that your body may store as fat or excess calories that are already fat? 4 calories in a gram of carbs. 9 calories in a gram of fat.

  • This is a great video. I'm realising that I definitely need more calories. I'm wondering though, how come you recommend so many more calories than Doctor Doug in his book? According to The 80 10 10 Diet I should be eating around 1700 calories but I seem to need around 2700. Do you know why Doug Graham doesn't recommend 3000 for all adults in his book? Just wondering...

  • @Tam438 He does address these extra calories. Reread pages 168 and 169.

  • the Maasai Mara tribe in Kenya eat 4000 calories, with most of it coming from red meat, milk, maize, cattle blood, and butter. studies show that out of 400 adult males, the average cholestorol level is 50% less than the average american. their fitness levels are described as olympic standard. hardly surprising when they win nearly all endurance events.. but it obviously isnt diet, its INACTIVITY!! far more dangerous than natural fats. thats what people should be preaching, not diet. imo

  • @soldierside365

but the point was they dont count how much they eat a day, they expend all that energy and still remain thin. we call it living, they call it survival

  • @soldierside365 The Massai tribe are among the sickest people subsisting in Africa dude - life expectancy is 44 years old.

    :(

The staple food ugali makes up the majority of the diet of Kenyan athletes, and it is a rarely discussed component of the Massai diet also. It's high carb, plant based btw.

  • With all due respect, we're not monkeys. Monkey's don't have the ability to count calories (aka 3000 a day) or create new diets that are different from our anthropology.

  • Bananas and Green Juices for the masses I say! Another great video!

  • If countring calories isn't natural (which it isn't), then how come on 30 bananas a day are we asked "Did you eat your 3,000 calories today?"?

I think it's important to count calories while starting off on a very different diet, like switching from SAD to raw. It's very easy to lose a lot of weight in the transition before the body adjusts and the person can become intuitive.

  • 9:00 Here's my Mastercard - Can you give me some super food canisters of goodness? - I like that. hahahaha.lol That's so funny.

  • Thank you for speaking the truth.

  • you had me at eat bananas.. oh ya, i just made a 6 banana smoothie and its delicious and filling.. im learning how to count the calories this week

  • So Brown Rice is ok...cool!

  • "the fat you eat is the fat you wear" good one! wheres my note pad.....

  • you are awesome. Going to the apple orchard this week to load up! Thanks so much for your vblogs and motivation! Keep it up! Have a great day!

  • Hey I was wondering what you thought about Robert Cassar? He looks great but he doesn't eat any fruit. I guess as long as you get the nutrients from somewhere then you will do okay. He is all about organic, raw, unprocessed liquid type eating. But it's not like fruit will hurt you, haha.

  • "Not everything that counts can be counted, and not everything that can be counted counts." Albert Einstein. i see what you're saying, but how do these nutritionalists even measure calories?? is it some kind of chemical reaction? i don't even think that kind of method can be valid! what would make sense to me is if studies were done with actual living humans and a measure of what THE BODY does energy wise with a given amount of food.

  • @aurayon sound like u need more carbs lol Brain foggg

  • i love this stuff harleykeep it up dont never ever stop man. your a big inspiration. way fro the BAHAMAS! ps. need a fan base here though. too much people here on the sad diet you sayy 811 they say whats that ! help if ya could thanks.

  • @monellasweeting If you are dedicated enough, you can kick off the 811 community where you are. Sure Harley has experience and a way with his words, but any one can do it if they are passionate enough and are doing it right. If you are living the lifestyle people will notice the improvement in your health and will probably even come to you for advice!

  • cause we are not monkeys thats why!

  • So basically...you publicly bash other raw vegans in order to sell your brand of snake oil. Interesting "community" this is.

  • @aurayon He's telling people to eat fruit, which you can get for free if you know where to look. So yes, he's 'selling magical potions' to help people lose weight -.- Come on.. He even tells people that they can be healthy on rice and beans, which is true. He tells people to buy and eat things you can get for pennies in supermarkets instead of promoting products that cost hundreds of dollars and can only be bought online.

  • @UniversalTruths Who can eat rice and beans by themselves though? I tried to eat plain rice once, and maybe I COULD have gotten over how plain it was if I did not have to eat a whole @#$#ing shitload of it at once to get required calories and it didn't take so LONG to chew and just get OVER WITH!! Now I am sounding nuts for having to force down unpalatable food just to get in a certain nutrient, and what is the point of having peak physical health if my mental health suffers!?

  • @UniversalTruths I COULD, however, in THEORY, eat loads of fruit in one sitting to get the required calories, if ONLY it wasn't too expensive. I am NOT going to spend 1200+ dollars a month on food, that would be almost 60% of my paycheck!! I would have no money to have fun with, and again, what is the point of having peak physical health if you're so poor you can't enjoy it!? No matter HOW good something sounds at first, you just have to draw the line somewhere, realize it's not worth it.

  • @rpmangin Then again, in all fairness though, my motivation for doing such a radical diet may not be one for health reasons in as much as one for having an excuse never to waste time cooking. After all, I used to eat LOTS of processed convenience dinners until I eventually got sick of them and finally broke down and did more of my own cooking, which I'd drop in a second if it didn't mean going back to those highly fake foods.

  • 12:45

"..because when I was a kid I didn't do my rebirthing process correctly and I had to jump in a tub of kane toads and mud and rebirth my crystals..!"

    This is why he rocks.

  • 2 year olds eating puppies?!! :D Are you high?

  • About your point about 'eat more fat to burn more fat' - you don't necessarily 'eat more fat' on top of grain carbs - you give up or dramatically cut down your intake of carbs like pasta, rice, wheat, bread etc, and get your energy from healthy fats (fish, nuts, lean meats).

Saturated fat is even good for us, it is grains that fuck you up. Grains make you want to eat more grains, the give you an insulin spike, you slump, then you crave more grains. Grains fuck with your metabolism big time.

  • You're a funny boy, keep it up man, cheered my day up : )

  • He doesn't have diabetes.......... A low fat vegan diet is used for TREATING IT. Type 2 patients use it to manage their disease and sometimes even reverse it completley. Look around a bit, search for vegan diet+diabetes type 2 and you will find studies, books and testimonials. Stop mixing all sugar with refined sugar, please. An apple =/= a candy bar.

  • @NorthernLight12 a low fat vegan diet can be distratous for someone with diabetes. Understand how blood sugar and insulin works you would get a better understanding of this.

  • Not everyone can be vegan. Everyone can be healthy in their own way just by disciplining themselves.

  • While i appriciate eating mostly plant based, i can't really keep that up 100% all the time due to the ice cold winters up north, especially fruits which aren't really naturally available until spring/summer. What do you recommend for people lving in cold climates?

  • Plants are not a panacea. There are plenty of compounds in plants that promote cancer and tumours.

  • Veganism is the fastest way to bad health.

  • @ObesityMyth Do continue please

  • I don't ask these questions/call you out because I think you're a bad person, just one that is misinformed and short minded. You say "asks the gurus" @ 16:21 but when people ask you about the shortcomings of your diet you ignore them or block them or give them answers that are not objective. If I come across as rude I'll refer you to your point at 16:41 where you say be rude. You'll probably delete my comments and block me, but if you are a man of your word you'll answer my questions objectively

  • 5.

"The carbs you eat are the glycogen you get to live with"

No the carbs you eat are the diabetes symptoms you get to live with

    6.

"Take advice from the people getting the DRUG FREE results you desire"

Nice cop-out, unless the thousands of people around the world who are more athletic than you are are all on drugs? All them Kenyan marathon runners must certainly be on the dope right?

  • 4. Your inconveince analogy his very flawed, it is based solely of subjective inferences. You assume starvation, weight gain, sickness, poor athletic performance, and lack of emotional control despite the fact that there are those who are skinnier, more athletic, and/or are more emotionally stable than you and others on your 811 diet

  • 1. Why should we trust any random number for the amount of calories we should eat over our own bodies?

    2. In reference to 2:11 it doesn't take are you saying it takes "at least five years" to be healthy on your diet?

    3. Even if it is "physiologically impossible" to be obese on your diet, that does not address many of the issues associated with your diet (type II diabetes, insulin resistance, low HGH, etc)

  • personally i dont really care what i eat i just eat what i want mostly healthy stuff cuz i love fealing healthy, but i eat alot and im crazy skinny. I go to the gym alot to

  • Rawvoice, how to you not develop insulin resistance on such a high fruit/sugar diet? I would think that your recommendations are a recipe for Type II Diabetes, not health. Not trying to insult you, just thinking critically like you encourage.

  • You are right on the money @MINDandBODYtotheMAXX. He lives with type II diabetes symptoms, if you ask him about it he'll edify his symptoms as healthy (he ADVOCATES urinating a MINIMUM 10 TIMES a day + multiple times throughout the night).

  • Can you upload this to Durianriders channel?

  • Ponchos to hide their fat stomachs..hahhahha, so very true...movement and feeling good on fruit is key to a happy and healthier path! You are right on Harley!

  • Nice hair..Do you use shampoo :)

  • Eat more Carbs, the Carb you eat becomes the glycogen you get to live everyday with, think with, breath with, run with, dance with, keep up with your kids with, have s*x with,do sports with, contribute to this word with.

  • This is great Harley, great job!

  • Well done on that 17m 58s 5k!!!

  • Hey Harley, did you say you RAN a 5k in 7min10sec and 58miliseconds? You said 7, 10, 58, 5k. That would be a world record unless I heard or interpreted you wrong. Just wondering what you meant.

  • @SecretsOfLongevity 17 minutes most likely...

  • @MichaeLightify Ah, yeah makes sense!

  • @SecretsOfLongevity

    5k in 17:58

    10k in 37:22

Both are pb's and ran in the last week and both 100% GPS measured to the metre. ;)

    Vegan since April 2001

  • @TheRawvoice Great work! Do you have a pb for a marathon? My dad broke his pb last year and finally broke the 3 hour mark by a minute or to and he's over 50! He's definitely not low carb ;) I've never been a big endurance guy but can definitely appreciate what it takes :)

  • One of the best videos, you've ever made. Thank you so much for spreading the message!!

  • counting calories can be enlightening if you never done it before

  • eating less = crappy training sessions

  • fruit for life

  • I'd like to see:

    1) How many pull-ups can he do?

    2) Does he have a 2X body weight Back Squat?

    3) How fast is his 400m Run?

    4) How many times can he Bench Press his body weight?

My guess (and that's all it is) is that the only thing he's good for is an LSD effort. He may be thin, but he's not fit.

  • @BLJazzman He's a runner and a biker.

  • @lehman That's my point. High-carb is fine if you're going to do the same medium-effort activity for long periods, because you'll burn it off. However, get him inside a gym and give him a barbell, and he'll be gassed in minutes. That isn't fitness.

  • @BLJazzman so you are saying weightlifters who eat high carb diets dont exist?

  • @MichaeLightify I don't care about lifters either. Get a lifter on the road and he's toast. Real fitness means capacity over multiple modalities, not just lifting heavy or long distance runs. I truly don't care how long the guy can bike if he can't get his chin over the pullup bar.

Show me a 20 minute 5k, 15 strict pullups, a 1.5xBW Back Squat, 60 second 400m, and 50 chest-to-deck pushups, and I'll be interested in his diet and training. But he won't get there on only 10% protein and 80% carbs.

  • @BLJazzman you seem so sure but I have no reason to believe you are correct... I think a low protein and low fat diet is optimum... which leaves carbs as your main calorie source... and doctors such as Essyltyn, Ornish, McDougall, Goldhammer and such all agree on this... low protein, low fat, HIGH CARBS.. and it just so happens fruits are the optimum or ideal source

  • @BLJazzman I've been eating this way and can do 20 -25 pullups dead hang and took along break from squatting but just added that in 3 weeks ago (used to squat 400 at 160-165 body weight) and I will get there again. I feel stronger than ever and I used to be on protein powders and eat a ton of meat. I've proved to myself that protein is extremely overrated. I want to train more than ever now. Oh yeah and 50 pushups is too easy.

  • @82Bdog Good for you. Where's your video so we can see you doing this?

  • @BLJazzman I have no reason to lie and I hope to have vids in the future but I have nothing to record them on. But anyway don't be a hypocite, you were the one coming on here acting like mr. fitness so where are your vids?? That's what I thought. I'm just telling you that I've proved to myself that this way of eating (high carb, low fat) works as long as you are eating plenty of calories. My comment wasn't to show off it was just to tell you that your assumptions aren't true.

  • @82Bdog I'm not making claims without evidence. But, walk into any CrossFit affiliate around the country and observe a class. Go to the top athletes and ask what they eat. My guess is they didn't have a pound of watermelon for breakfast :)

Tell you what, when Mikko Salo or Nicole Carroll start touting the virtues of 80% carbs, I'll listen. The guy in this video might be able to crush me on the road, but have him step into my gym and he's toast.

  • @BLJazzman - DR is not training to be the big man in the gym though is he? and ROFL at the fact that you said he's not fit.... LOL

  • @lukemur13 Yeah, Im mega out of shape. Even when I went out with Lance last month up Mt Lofty, I was still riding at tempo.

I go to the gym a few times a year. When Im there, most guys are not lifting the same % of bodyweight I am. I avoid doing too much weights cos I dont want to slow down my cycling/running by having too much muscle. Sure I appreciate other crew into muscle building but Im all about cardio.

  • @BLJazzman If you say so lol! How about you read 80/10/10 by dr.graham so you have a better understanding?? It is true that eating high-carb low fat is the best for heart disease and cancer prevention which are the two biggest killers in the u.s. So why would the healthiest diet not be the best diet for performance? Dr. graham has coached many athletes including olympic athletes. Don't knock it before you try it.

  • @BLJazzman Yeah you claimed you would have him on his back in 3 minutes like you are some super trainer lol. That's big talk bro! His choice is endurance sports if his choice was strength he would do very well if he stayed consistent.

  • @BLJazzman Im running 17:58 for 5k,(last week) I can do 10 pull ups and run a 54x 400. I can do 40 chest to deck push ups and then go jump on the bike and ride 300miles. SERIOUS!

Can you show me any of your diet gurus that can do that?

Can you show me any of your diet guru's that their blood tests on youtube?

Can you show me any of your diet guru's that aint hooked on caffiene? That actually follow what they teach? I cant. ;)

  • @TheRawvoice I don't believe in gurus, though you seem to be applying for the position. I believe in evidence, and I believe in competition.

You seem as though you'd like to prove you're right, and your timing couldn't be better. Submit an application video to the CrossFit Games and compete this summer. 1st prize for the fittest man is $250,000. That would certainly prove your point, wouldn't it?

  • @BLJazzman lol.. there's a vid of him doing 18Km/hr run beside a bike measuring his speed.. and he's able to talk while running. Sustained 18km/hr may not be olympic speed.. but it's pretty damn fast.. and faster than a lot of treadmills even go..

I thought I was moderately fit.. but I can't keep that speed for long!

  • @neuronstorm You're missing the point. He's a specialist. The real world punishes the specialist. Send him to my gym and I'll have him on his back in 3 minutes, with nothing heavier than 95#.

  • The best ice cream = frozen bananas and mangos :)

  • @TheElectroVibes without the peels and skins btw...

  • @TheElectroVibes ok i will try it :)

  • @MichaeLightify Good luck! You will notice that once you bite into the frozen banana it will melt in your mouth and have the texture of ice cream and have a mild taste of vanilla. Good stuff.

  • @TheElectroVibes so I assume you just blend the banana and mango together then freeze it?

  • @TheElectroVibes :) thanks... i think ur comment got flagged because of the url u posted... lol

  • @MichaeLightify hah at least you saw it. I think you will like it. I have told a couple friends who aren't vegan about it, and they liked it a lot. As a bonus this is actually filling, rather than it leaving you wanting more and more like calfs food source over there. More is good though with fruits :D

  • @TheElectroVibes I'm sure its the healthiest psuedo-ice cream in the world :P

  • Sarah and I saw a big fat crow with its head in a mcdonald's bag. now that shit will make you fat! haha

  • Yes man Your best yet :)

  • your best yet!

  • Actually hunter gatherer societies (before having western cultural influence) have notoriously low if non-existent incidents of rape, murder and violence. They also have (again in the majority of cases) little to no hierarchy and live in an egalitarian fashion where they share literally everything and have no possessions.

  • Lol, a beached horse!

  • Harley, what do you think of green smoothies?
