All my LINE 6 products go bad around a year or so after I buy them. EVER SINGLE THING I own by them! Flextone II combo amp-DEAD! VETTA II HD Stack-DEAD! POD X-3 LIVE-DEAD! FBV Floorboard-DEAD! I have used line 6 units! they are pieces of SHIT!! why on earth do people love these things?? I compared them to my analog pedals and there is no contest! as for wah! I have a modded Crybaby and an RMC Picture Wah! Line-6 has nothing that comes close to the quailty of these pedals! its BS when they claim it can sound like this and that???

I have and gave up! but I will admit I was trying to get it to sound like my analog pedals :) it failed. I still continue to use Analog live, people do say i sound alot warmer and clear than those who use digital

@Fender1976uk Were you using them direct to pa/recording or were you putting them in front of an amp? From my experience, I found that they sound like crap in front of an amp unless you use your amp distortion with it, but they sound pretty good direct. I use the x3 live routed 4CM with my amp and I disable the amp models and cab sims and it works fantastically! I can use the stomps to overdrive my amp and it sings!

I guess some guitar players want to use everything?? and sound quailty isn't that important to them? I'm more simple, I'll just use 4 pedals into a valve amp.

@Fender1976uk The point is you'll get them all in one package and they will sound 'close' to the original. I don't think they claim they sound the exact same, which many of the refurbished newer hardware products do not either. A crybaby wah now isn't the same as it was 20 years ago.

In the end people can suck on that all they want, but when a sound reaches a certain level of quality, it will be useful to many. Thats what Line6 is all about, affordable sounds for the masses. xD

you can use the X3 Live with any amp. you can also turn off the amp function and just use the effects.

Push hard on the top of the pedal and it activates the button to switch between volume and wah. Push again to switch back.

You should not compare x3 live to me-70, because x3 live wins easily but between x3 live and boss gt10 it's really a matter of taste. I advice you to go to your local store and try them out.

yes stepping on the toe changes it frome volume to wah or adding the other effect pedal may change that I'm Not shure yet have't got that wish they would have put the dual peadels on this like on My AX212 fun to wah and volume swell at the same time

Every 2-3 years I forget that these things will NEVER sound good and run out and get the latest, greatest thing for either bass or guitar. Thank God for GC 30 day return policy. Now, here is the funny thing. I play bass through a 1970's Ampeg head. (Obviously I dont wait the full 30 days before returning the line 6 and going back to the Ampeg). But the funny things is that you cant even get a good tone with these things GOING THROUGH A GREAT AMP. Its like they suck the tone from your rig.

thats because you don't know how to set it up properly your using apm modling in an amp you need a FULL RANGE sound system to get anything near the sound of a real amp OR turn OFF the amp section and bypass the Mic and front of house emulation that way your using just the effects and peadels of the live x3 and you are playing them in your REAL amp otherwise you are just digging a tone grave you will never emulate an amp with an amp unless desined to do it ie.line6 combo's

if your looking for adding effects to your favorite amp look at the effects stomp box modler this X3 has that built into it and with a littel learning you can bypass amp modling and just use preset effects this X3 also has the USB port and XLR out turning it into a extreamley good external sound card 24bit a side and you can use the amp modling for recording in digital also mic,front of house modling hence the name X3 LIVE no doubt the most powerfull prosseser I own 32 bit a side internal

also this X3 has the XLR in with phantom powering for accustic or vocal prossesing it's a yummy thing you can get the sound card style thingy but the X3 live has all it's internal RAM to add to you laptop or home tower leving the RAM saved for your recording softwear also it operates the varaX guitar and bass if you can't program a VCR then without a laptop it'll be a nice learning experance you CAN shut OFF amp modling allong with mic and front of house sound system emulation and just do effec.

Wahs doesn't make any sound at all. A real wah is just a passive tone control with a pedal instead of a knob. If the tone sounds like shit, the wah will also sound like shit.

zendrive and solo 100 is a cool blend, as well as line 6 purge (treb set fairly low) and line 6 lunatic (treb set flat 50%) an just tweak some more stuff but those 2 i think are a cool start

@solidtenpin I plug mine into My 17" laptop programing is cake all point and click you see vertual effects,mic kind & placment. and for the price of the Studio modal and peadel you could have 2 X3's one as a backup or use it @ front house for some Nice on the fly tap delay or if you trust your sound guy the base gowes direct and he can control the amp&... for the perfect room fit vocal verbs are badass I have rooms around town dialed in just load the preset line 6 is an up and cumming power

The wah's are okay. I just use the Vetta wah for a little color for some leads... and when playing Metallica of course. ;)

If you're getting an X3 FOR the wah, then you'll be making a silly purchase. If a solid wah is a must for you, then you CAN just hook up an external wah before the board.

Yeah I own myself a X3 Live and I had that first impression when I heard those wah models, personally I like the "weeper" and the "chrome custom", those sound good. However I already own a Crybaby 535Q so I don't worry that much about weakness ;)

Spend the money and get the original wah pedal. Then you can actually use the pedal to "morph" in between different tones. O use it as a simple volume pedal. It may cost a bit extra, well actually it will... but it will be worth it when you don't have to screw around with it to change it all the time. Plus... it's authentic. And nothing beats that! ;)

i'm an old school wah fan...but like 3 of the 6 wahs from x3 live a lot... my old thomas wah..and hendrixfasel is good...but they crackle ..hard to use for recording sometimes..

in essence..this is a 24 bit filter like in protools , jus with a hardwired controller...makes some wicked sounds depending on the guitar, strings, scratch technique, and foot size..just kidding... actually, some of the dunlop and new vox pedals sound too harsh for me - so analog isn't always better. needed: compressor.
