  • I always come back to this video! It's my absolute favourite.

  • @luvsfromCMS Thanks!

  • Aw, that was really good :)

  • to: ThelambicPen

one more thing- do i have your permission to MP3-ise your version of this tune for personal use? I cannot seem to find anywhere were i can pay for your rendition of it (i don't want to be a music pirate).

    Chem

  • @chemicalmix Sure! If I ever decide to do anything commercial with these, I'll probably re-record them with some proper equipment.

  • @TheIambicPen

  • A fantastic rendition of one of my most beloved songs. Another saved to my favourites.

    Really well done mate

    Chem

  • You have a great voice. :)

  • Thank you! Peacefully, very nice.

  • What a voice..

    Pure heart & soul.

  • TRÈS JOLIE VERSION DE CET AIR TRADITIONNEL. BYE

  • This was brilliant keep singing

  • very very good

  • <3

  • very nice indeed. I ve heard quite a lot of versions of this song. well done

  • change nothing brother. dont fake a facial expession.

  • this is one of the best versions i have heard of this song :) i love it!!

you have a great voice too!!

    xx

  • This dude rocks

my orchestra played this song, and it was good, but he sounds amazing just by himself

    He needs a record deal

  • Sorry for the double post but your version made me like it so much that i decided to check all of the other versions. Without a doubt yours is the most reflective and beautiful. The Irish Rovers have a nice bouncy version but this here has the gentle touch that moves the heart. Thank you very much for letting us all experience this.

Still I agree with The Ladyrebekah, you might want to consider adding more facial expression. It helps bring passion to your voice.

Much respect from Galt CA, USA

  • Excellent. I agree with the rest. You need to make a CD. I'l buy one. Just listened to your rendition of Health to the Company as well. Both were well done. Keep it up.

  • you're in washington? cool, i'm in north idaho lol

i thought you were the very best singer of this song i've heard on utube yet, the runner-up is the Allan Rickman, a love story version

that being said, the video was a bit boring because u didn't really move around much or use much expression on you're face, & from the angle of the camera we couldn't see you playing the guitar very well either...on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being totaly awsome...i'll give u an 8

  • Great job!

  • Well done!!

  • very well done. Nice voice, you seemed to get into the swing of things as you played. Good!

  • Oh dear!! Your voice took me too County Down!! Keep on folking! U do it great!!!

  • Lovely voice, my friend. Greetings from Serbia

  • What a voice ...amazing (made me speechless)..thats all i have to say ! Greetings from Germany .

  • he's amazing!

  • :) I'm doing this as my traditional song for grade 6 <3 This is my favourite recording.

  • the best cover ive heard

  • GREAT VERSION......cheers from SF CA

  • so i commented a long time ago that this was too slow.... but i've changed my mind.... it fits for the melancholy wishful mood i'm in right now, so thanks :)

  • Beautiful voice, you have!

  • i love this song because its to a woman with brown hair. it also demonstrates the depth to which we should love our women. God knows i try to love mine deeper everyday. i plan on playing this song at our wedding! :D

  • i cant stop laughing at your fringe , hairline of a 50 year old

    sehr schön!

    Ben

  • Exceptional! Full of soul and feeling, your voice is an absolute delight. Tempo of the song really suits you!

  • about as long as you've been making a living by sticking your mouth around glory holes you twat.

    Great rendition again dude.

  • all he did that i didn't like was slow the song down, and that doesn't make him a butcher.

  • once again you`ve done it man, you have a beautiful voice keep up the good work.

    G.B Putte from sweden

  • You have a beautiful voice, I really enjoyed your take on it, keep up the good work!

  • Well done lad. Nice set of chords too.

  • good job lad but ur style of singing doesnt really suit the irish ballads

  • His voice is nice. It's just a little 'cold' at the very beginning, Once warmed, it fits well for the song. There are many way of singing this song, I don't like the 'hard' rocky versions. This one is soft and full of real emotion.

Just a point. The rythm of the words could be a little bit more 'free' from the music (anticipations, things like this... Christy Moore, Andy Irvine, Niamh Parsons are good at it).

  • You are absolutely amazing! <3

  • Thank God for your voice my friend! I hope that your military service went well and that you will be posting ever more great songs for us!

    All the best!

  • Thank you that was lovely I like they way you told the story to music and pitch perfect, very nice indeed.

  • What's the story? where's the song ?

  • The song is in county Down, Ireland and speaks about an unmatched beauty of a certain Rosie McCann aka the Star of the county Down :) cheers

  • pure beutiful! Well damn done man! 10/10 and respect from Belgrade, Serbia

    Eirin ♥

  • I've mentioned it somewhere in these comments, but you should check out the Orthodox Celts version of this song. They're from Belgrade, as well.

  • I found a shiny pearl in the big youtube shell. This one I keep close to my heart.

  • irish or not, drunk (like me) or sober this is excellent thanks for posting!

  • You have a beautiful voice.

  • lovely voice 8P

  • I love this song melody, and the lyrics. We sing a song in the South about a soldier going to war, Bob Roebuck, my Southern Soldier Boy, using the same melody. My mother's people came from Sheleighla, Ireland, and my father's folks came from around Belfast. Scotch Irish and Shamrock Irish, mixed. Orange and green. I, myself come from Mississippi.

  • Well done, friend.

    Take care and thanks.

  • 10 out of 10...

    great emotion...

  • I love your singing! :D

  • Touching, haunting, and beautifully sung ! ! !

  • Thank-you Pen...you have a beautiful voice, and I like the speed you sing it. My great grandfather (irish, name McCardle from tuppery county?)came to america in 1900 or so. I have a mixture of irish, native american, english, and german. Mostly I am american indian Nez Pierce, and irish. Your song makes me miss Ireland. Even though Ive never been there or my parents or grandparents. Thank-you for sharing.

  • Very good, the best version i have ever heard... ma comm cazz si brutt però...

  • the only thing I have to nitpick on this song is the way you pronounce Quay, you say it like it's spelled Kay, when in my opinion, the Qu should be pronounced just as it is in queen, but a great job with the tune, would love to see a few more vids come from ya.

  • Thats not necessarily true... I have some friends from Ireland and they all say Key or Kay, as does a friend that lives in Glasgow... But anyway cheers on the song! I love how you sung it!

  • no offence, but that comment is nothing but poor.
