  • is kevin nash O_O

  • He plays so clean, and he has the sickest tone and sustain. There is really nobody else like him.

  • what is that guitar ?

  • @matixonixD music man john petrucci signature

  • @dreamtheaterfan360 and his own signature trem

  • steroids !

  • Holy mother of god. I love this so much.

  • Didn't know hulk played the guitar

  • my fucking god, I love that final part of octavarium

  • Amazing amazing maazing solo

  • The next mr olympia?

  • LOL @ the ants doing it on his cabs

  • Sounds jus like the album. petrucci has jesus fingers

  • portnoy's kit is ridiculous big

  • other than being a great guitar player, petrucci is built like a brick shithouse

  • Ants making love at the beginning.

  • He definately needs a bigger guitar xD

  • world domination mode OFF--[ON]

  • Check out my instrument cover of Razor's Edge :)

  • I thought this looked like MacEwan hall !

  • The tremolo on that guitar is just insanely beautiful.

  • I'm a man.

    Suddenly I'm pregnant at 1:24

  • you know Petrucci's feelin it when he looks like he's coming on the audience.

  • Seriously, great job recording this. Most live fan recordings are bad. Kudos!

  • epic last note

  • Hey !! Can you Guys Help me Find the Octavarium Solo's Tabs ? [ The Simpliest Ones that I Can Find ] .. Thank You \m/

  • Ah the glory days... thank God Mike finally got out of there.

  • dude holy shit i was in the back fuckin row at that concert. Your in like row 5, you lucky sob,

  • @wakkawakkabitch Actually, I was just in front of the mixing desk. (about 2/3 of the way back). My camera has 12x optical zoom :-) (and I have a fairly steady hand)

  • @enchantgy

that's not a fairly steady hand

    its a ridiculously steady hand

    nice video

  • @enchantgy You are very lucky in this concert

  • I'm glad you can't see Portnoy most of the time. Stupid asshole quitter.

  • @bobebobebob First of all, no one cares what makes you glad. Second, MP is not the main focus of the video. Third, try understanding his situation before you call him any names.

Write, record, tour had been his lifestyle for over TWENTY years of his life. He thought the band should take a break, but they weren't on board with the idea. Ultimately, he quit in order to spend more time with family and other projects.

Next time, inform yourself before wasting a comment on an unrelated video.

  • @bobebobebob

he didn't quit as much as he was kicked out. he wanted a break from dream theater. had been with the band for 25 years and he started the band, i think he has the right to take a 2 year break, but apparently the rest of dream theater said that if he takes a break at all he is out of the band. it's not mike's fault really. the bottom line is that he really didn't quit, so stop being a ding dong and enjoy mike portnoy when he was in the band.

  • EPIC

  • holy, he on the `roids.

  • omfg, his arms are so huuuge

  • man i saw them in chicago in 07 and i died of epicness. three times.

  • this solo, this solo, everytime,EVERY SINGLE TIME i hear it.. it bring chills down my spine,, it's so freaking epic :l, and live its a nerdgasm :B

  • EPIC, like EVERYTHING Dream Theater plays...EVERYTHING

  • motherfucking goosebumps

  • It's amazing how many fucking idiots say DT is all technical and no soul. They selectively ignore pieces like this to keep thinking they're right with their own insecurities. JP busted a nut on all the haters at 1:24.

  • I went to this tour when they played in nc and I was six rows back for hte opening bands. during the break we moved to the front row because the people that were there only came for the opening bands. so we got front row for dream theater. I got some awesome pics and caught a pick ! from john that is. my friend, she was handed a full band signed framed photo because she was yelling and going crazy all during the show. so she was like the number one fan that night ! it was indescribable !!

  • I saw them open up for Iron Maiden, which was kind of a perk for seeing dream theater, and the only song off of this album that they played was panic attack. It was the best show i ever went to, tied with Megadeth.

  • @betonomobmotan Then why did you bother to click on the video. Idiot!

  • @enchantgy he thought it was britney spears

  • @enchantgy he watched the vid to see if he can spot a mistake.. then you clicked on the wrong clip man.. now go away and jack off your mother!! ^^

  • @enchantgy because I have no possible way of knowing it'll suck before seeing it:) I happen to like Mr Petrucci, he's a great technical player so i watch his videos from time to time to see if he came up with something new

  • @betonomobmotan Heaven forbid anyone has any criticism about a video.

  • @betonomobmotan

    good for you...

  • @betonomobmotan then you have no musical sense at all...

  • @betonomobmotan what exactly where you trying to achieve by posting that? Like, no seriously... i want to knowwhat exactly was going throught your head, because it baffles me!

  • @SASPython just my comment.. if you like them - great, I just don't..

  • Mike left... *sad face*

  • By far....one of my ALL-TIME FAVORITE Petrucci MELODIC/EPIC Solo moments!!

  • Two times Ive seen DT and both were fuckin excellent!

  • at 0:25 XDD *pats on shoulder* "yea, you just keep doing that...." lol

  • Tipple H is that u? i thought u are wrestler...LOL

  • igual ke tu madre we!! mira aki la tengo te giña el ojo =D

  • my mind cant even fathom seeing dream theater from that close playing octavarium in it's entirety.

  • @MuseumProductions 1) this was recorded at full zoom (12x), so it wasn't that close. 2) They only played "Razor's Edge" as part of a medley. I did however see the whole song in Toronto on the Octavarium tour. And it was mind-blowing!!!

  • @enchantgy I went to the last progressive nation and I have to say that it was one of the best concerts I've ever been to. My third time seeing them but I scored some nice seats. I was on the floor in the back but got to walk up to the front. I thought my mind was going to explode, all the power and so close to me. Dream Theater is amazing at any distance though.

  • @enchantgy

I was lucky enough to see 8v in its entirety twice. Radio City and a few days prior in Connecticut. Both from very close. My fav song ever. Thanks for the vid!

  • @enchantgy that, and itl never happen again because of the loss of mike

  • i like to picture my petrucci as a ninja fighting off evil samuri...i like to picture petrucci in a black tight muscly shirt...saying that not only can he blow your mind musically, but punch a hole in your heart

  • lol the guitar looks so small with his built up body, still one of the most amazing guitar players ever, technical, speedy, a mastermind composing, humble and cool guy

  • @AlvaroIGuzmanV uhmm... NO! This is NOT an ACDC song! It is "Razor's Edge", the last part of the song Octavarium by Dream Theater.

  • @enchantgy some kind of hilarious... its angus young on the stage! xD

  • WWWWWWWWTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTFFFFF

  • @AlvaroIGuzmanV Que pendejo estas wey,,la verdad

  • @AlvaroIGuzmanV

    jajajajjaa! contate otro! ;)

  • @AlvaroIGuzmanV

    No es de AC/DC.

Razors EDge es uno parte de Octavarium.

Type in "Razors Edge - AC/DC"

  • I can listen to this over and over again.

  • good quality!

  • Dude its jesus on guitar!

  • I could listen this solo 100000000000 times , but I always love it ......

  • TI ADORO JHON

  • every mode is bear mode :D

  • Is he fat?

  • Hes not fat lol. Seen him live, hes built!

  • At 0:05, the ants in the background are... fucking?

  • @andrw85 aye :) Things like that happen arond MP

  • yea how did he get fat?

  • yeah, epic

  • watch JP here..

    youtube.com/watch?v=8C40xAZTg9o

  • half the population died of instant petrucci death that night...just because of that one note..now the solo...we'd have to play with some really big numbers

  • I think the finales of Octavarium and Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence are some of DT's best work

  • @ForTheRestOfTime Exactly. All their finales are epic (The Count of Tuscany, In The Name Of God, Finally Free....)

  • Anyone get chills when he holds the last note and leans back?

  • @ThorPlaysGuitar yeah, even Rudess admits he gets chills on that one

  • @cvc1290 Hahaha! How can you not?

  • JOHN PETRUCCI! IN SOUL MODE!!! JAJA

  • I think razor´s edge is the most shivering moment of all Dream Theaters songs! John Petrucci is GOD!:)

  • Petrucci is just unbelievable.

  • And who ever said JP doesn't play with feeling?

  • gosh dang I love John Petrucci!!

  • massmurder-mode = on

  • DT ALWAYS , PETRUCCI IS GOD

  • 0:02

This proves Petrucci is God. HE CAN WALK ON WALLS.

  • @Wiiman895 petrucci and you can go and shit together cause you now nothing about music you shit

He can walk on my DICK

  • When JP falls into water, he doesn't get wet...the water gets Petrucci

  • John Petrucci is god!

  • did they play the whole song? I'm dying to hear it live once.

  • No. It was part of a medley.

  • @NeverLandQM

BUY DREAM THEATER SCORE, 20TH ANNIVERSARY, GREATEST VIDEO EVER, THEY PLAY OCTAVARIUM LIVE WITH AN ORCHASTRA, WARNING YOU MAY HAVE MULTIPLE ORGASMS

  • @xxTWOxxFACExx

SCORE IS ON CD OR DVD, I HAVE BOTH

  • @NeverLandQM I think There's a vid of them playing the full thing in Seoul. It's pretty amazing how well they still play it live. It's gotta be incredibly difficult to pull off a song of this complexity on a stage.

  • @NeverLandQM they play it live on their SCORE dvd

  • @NeverLandQM They didn't play the full song (again, in a medley) when I saw them live in 2008 in ATL, but JP did play this solo.

  • @NeverLandQM me too man, its my favorite song of all times

  • @NeverLandQM Schmedley Wilcox it was called.

  • amazing!!!fantastic!

  • he he, john looks like he is Jesus in this clip.

  • to be clear, jesus gets his looks from john, because john is his father.

  • jizzed mahself. 8 times

  • i came from Edmonton to the 1st night. One of the best concert experiences of my life. It was my first time seeing Dream Theater.

  • That last note. OH MY GOD.

  • Shivers..

  • orgasmic on many levels!!!

  • BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I wonder how many people died during that solo.

  • hahahaha

  • Only Jesus Chirst himself could be this good, lol

  • Epic!

  • Orgasmic SOLO!!

  • they all look like jesuseseses

  • @Mirekization AHAHAHAAHAHA!!! XD

  • @Mirekization HAHAHA

  • lol the hands are funny

  • god note has been struck :O

  • jesusmode! lmao

  • Who knew jesus would be so good at lifting weights AND high string bends...

  • I love DT, I really do. My life would be incomplete without you!

  • that is so true my friend :)

  • This is one of the best solo of the Dream Theater band

  • i love this solo!!

  • a nice fuck you to those who say that Dream Theater have only technical and no soul

  • That guitar is fuckin singing !!!!!! :O :O

    breathtaking !!!

  • Amazing. i love that solo

  • that endless bend must be a pain in the ass for his finger!

  • Actually its just a normal bend on the 23rd fret but its how its integrated in the solo that made it what it is

    Lovely solo though

  • epic indeed!

  • 1:24 a light from the sky and a voice that says, "YOU ARE MY SON"

  • why is this called "razor's edge" ?

  • Because its the Razors Edge section of the song Octavarium.

  • @novaprecog Who knows?

  • i love how everyone just cheers at that last note john plays lol. its the climactic moment!!!!! idk why. i just cant stop watching vids of this song. its amazing.

  • what an epic note at the end

  • Clapping? WTF!

  • EPIC

  • Che stile..... che precisione..... che armonia.....

  • Petrucci in my opinion is the greatest guitarist of all time and apparently he was voted second greatest metal guitarist after that guy from megadeth, I think Petrucci is much better because of songs like this. This just pretty much beats anything on the scale of epicness this song seems to stop time itself, Unbelievable.

  • Second to Broderick? I think Broderick is a tasteless shred machine (albeit he doesn't miss a note ever). Who was holding the contest?

  • Mustaine, not Broderick. Mustaine is indeed a great metal guitarist, simply because of his contributions to the world of metal guitar, but I'd put him at second to JP.

  • Tipical Petrucci's day: 12 hours of alternate picking and 12 hours of body building and steroids! He's going to explode! :-)

    Fantastic solo, excellent song...

  • i think its actually 24 hours of each

  • Omg, why do you care if he is a kind of chubby?? He is the worlds best guitarplayer! He is God HIMSELF!!!!

  • chubby he has muscle man

  • Haha, MusicMan :P

  • i wouldn't go so far as to say that but he's definitely top 10

  • John needs to watch himself, or he will get as big as Yngwie Malmsteen!

  • John built muscle. Yngwie didn't take care of himself.

  • He is actually body building lol

  • Sometimes it looks like fat but it is actually muscle

  • @VH5150VH john is already bigger than yngwie. Yngwie is fat but john is tank

  • JP is a fuckin beast! haha he makes the guitar seem like a little toy
