Just a heads up: this video is now available in better quality! The reporter who interviewed Hit put up the footage on his own channel:
/watch?v=qj5qVXtWy48
I REALLY hope Hit doesn't take down his own video since it has an introduction, not to mention loads of views and comments! Maybe just link to it with an annotation?
Yoo, calisthenicskingz. Could you give me the address of this park with pullbars and stuff. Want to see it in google street view. I'm actually considering taking a journey to Bronx, and I absolutely wanna visit "your" park.
This amazing man give inspiration to so many to get results even half as good as he gets. He promotes a great way of working out.....no need for a gym, get outside and do your workout! Hard work and dedication DO pay off. Way to go Hit.
Man talk about results. As big and cut as a weight trained bodybuilder. Do you do this with calisthenics alone? I don't doubt you just wondering. impressive. Wish we had parks like that were I'm from.
@RemoCalisthenics those are my gloves of my fitness apparel line, you can order them from my website, they are specifically designed for this type of fitness
we appreciate the recognition, however Bar-barians, Beastmode & Harlem Seals are very good friends of ours and they are all very elite athletes as well.
WOW! Incredible development and technique-surely he has done this most of his life. And did he develop his physique without weight? Look at him at 0:21: he looks almost like a bodybuilder.
I was most impressed by your involvement with kids. I truly believe this should be a must in all school curicullum. I think if it was mandatory that every student learned these body weight routines every morning 2 to 3 hours we would have unbelievable achievers.
Calisthetics works out core strength and longevity for muscles.
Lets say you gained muscles through calisthetics.
And then there was a guy who lifted weights and got muscles. the man that lifted weights his muscles will wear out in a month of not lifting. but the calisthetic man will have his muscles for the rest of his life. dont believe me? research it then you stupid bitch. =)
weights will give u more muscles.. but, you don't get stronger! by using this method u getting stronger, then using only weights... world strongest using their body weight often to get stronger.. :)
I b-boy. We use a lot of this type of fitness routines in the dance. Much props to you Kal Kings for pushing this. I strongly believe what your doing and I know because it is working for me.
You can get strong with your body weight but you will develop strength more quickly with weights. Also your joints will become stronger with weights because they will become used to heavier weights. If you can go to a gym or have weights at home I recommend using them. This video was primarily for people in a specific area without access to a gym.
I have to say it's a bit unfair to claim bodyweight exercise will give you a better body than weights. It depends highly on what you're doing for either of these, what you eat (and when you eat it), and your genetics.
nah, body excercises to work better, most of the time your using your whole body therefore better looking body overall and quicker, weighst you sit down, or lie down, plus this way yours muscles learn to work together to achieve optimum performance and so you can perform alot of those ''gymnastic'' like moves
Put a heavy weight over your head. Tell me that you don't need balance to stabilize it.
I'm not talking about stupid, useless exercises like curls or skullcrushers or anything along those lines. I'm talking full body heavy compound lifts: Squat, Deadlift, Power Clean, Bench, and Overhead Standing Press.
Bodyweight exercises plateau quite quickly because you don't keep increasing the intensity. The intensity stays the same while you adapt.
love doing full body/compound exercises. hate doing iso...however, bodyweight exercises can still be altered to not plateau. pushups you can turn into one handed. or clapping pushups. or double claps, and then there's clapping one in front then again behind your back before landing. There's always a way to increase intensity even for body weight. you can always mix the 2 worlds and add weight to your body (weight vest, pullups with weight attached, etc.) The best is to have a variety
i think a better answer is it all depends on how you train. Btu I have to agree that body weight exercises do have the advantage of using mostly your entire body weight like megadude said, and usually these exercises are more difficult because you need to keep balance while trying to do the exercise. and think of it look at the physique of gymnasts. They barely do any weights.
also, genetics isn't as much as a factor as people think. Yes, it's true that we are born with either mostly slow twitch or fast twitch muscle fibers, btu that can be modified. It's all about HOW you train
Also, your hormonal profile, limb length and therefore leverage, sarcoplasmic mitochondria, capillary beds, etc. etc. etc. Genetics plays a huuuuuuge role, and when talking physique, hormones is one of the biggest factors, along with nutrition and PROPER training methods. How you train is extremely important, I agree, but genetics does make it harder or easier for one depending on their goals and their genetics.
Good points kc. I completely igorned hormonal profile. I misinterpreted my point. I totally agree it makes them harder if you have certain genetic issues, I meant it didn't mean someone with specific issues couldn't become the shape the guy is in the video with the proper training. Btu very true, it is hard for many people cuz of genetic factors.
My father told me about workouts like these that he did back in the day on Washington. He used to live in the 1420 building on Washington. Apparently this is how they trained in the projects. He tried to grow me up on this, but I was rather stubborn. I still love my pushups and dips though.
I dig this, guys. Keep it up. Weights definitely aren't always better than using your body.
uhmmmm, you can say about a year and a half. since about the middle of last summer, not the one that just passed.
I was around 200 lbs, got down to 165 with cardio and stuff, now I'm hovering between 175-180. all that wweight is just muscle I've packed on through these workouts.
also, I have no set workout, when I first started I did, but now I just do this stuff all day lol. it just feels natural and easy after a while. it's second nature, and keeps me looking lean!
getting this fit with calisthenics is possible. he has obviously taken it to extremes no one even thinks of doing. however, I went from flab to fat in under a year of just pushups, pullups, situps, crunches, and dips. and now after about two years I have a 6 pack, not an 8, but still pretty fuckin cool. just from utilizing my own weight.
no I don't use any extra weights, and my right arm measure 15.5 inches and my left is just about 15. it's my weak arm so I'm trying to even them out slowly. but really all I've used is my own body weight to build muscle, there are literally hundreds of different things you can do to utilize your own weight to build muscle and burn fat.
the only weights I ever used were around my wrists and ankles when I did cardio alot last year
Man it would be very good if u could make a HARDCORE LEG ROUTINE. Or just a few exercises.
But i´m believing that your body got developed from 98 until now. I mean in 98 when you stopped to train with weights u started with calisthenics, after seeing results with weights. Anyway i think that someone can build muscle with calisthenics there is no secret however. It has to be challenging that´s all
what? so he did lift weights before? did he get big first with them then switched to calisthenics? i knew it! he didn't get that body from scratch with only calisthenics!
bullshit man, i don't believe you don't do ANY weights at all, just look at your body, you are way more ripped than all the other guys who do the same thing as you, how do you explain that?
Plus i saw you with some weight vest in another video, WEIGHT VEST, that's using weights right there homie.
swear to God you got that body by bodyweight alone and i'll believe you.
Getting "ripped" doesn't require weights. Getting bigger muscles do and the dude is sculpted, he's not "big", per se. There's a difference. He has functional size. A lot of these big buff dudes like myself, are worthless...lol. Just got a bunch of bulging muscles that look good on the beach, or for moving massive amounts of weight in the gym but, it's mostly non-functional. Moving your body the way this cat does takes working out to a whole new level.
Let's just put it like this, if you want to grow bigger muscles by doing calisthenics, you have to pack on weights. So if you're gonna do pull-ups or chin-ups, you can't be doing all of that fly, ghetto-gymnatics my man is doing here. You need to put on a weight belt and overload the muscles...not the bones, the ligaments, tendons, or joints...the muscles, with heavier weight. Everything else is biomechanics and kinesiology, my dude.
ok..thanks for the answer..but..why do u have 14 int'l certifications if u just personal train? are they certifications (which means u must have a lot of money to pay for those cause certifications dont come cheap..NASM alone is $800) or are they workshops?
Good promo spot. QUESTION: U state anyone can do these exercises at a park if they cant go to a gym. So u actually train ur clients to do the human flag and upside push ups? Another question, it seems as though its all upper body..do u guys do any lower body calisthenics? These are just questions I have so dont take this in an offensive manner. I wrote u up before and u kinda came of in a"different manner."
thanks. yes ANYONE can do these exercises in a park or gym. no i don't train my clients to do human flags, but i do incorporate basic calisthenics exercises in with they're fitness program that i design for them. i thought you were a trainer as well ??????? anyway when you have as many certifications as i do ( 14 international certifications that is) you learn to become very creative. and yes we have leg exercises on our current dvd, and we'll have more on our instructional.
Congratulations - I lived a sedentary lifestyle as a young person up until two months ago. I workout regularly now doing calisthenics or weightlifting and have been eating cleaner than ever. Keep it up!
Congratulations on the New Review. Its definitely a better way of life especially in the lower income areas where there is a park. You can work it on whatever you have, who needs gyms, is my motto. Thaks again for the motivation.
calisthenicskingz, i messaged you a longgggg time ago man but i don't think you got it :( major props on this video, i was wondering if you could help me out with a beginers program for this kind of awesome stuff, i've been meaning to get started in it for quite some time but i dont' really know where to start :( could you possibly PM me a beginers routine i could use (maybe one you used), so i can get on the right track to get to this stage :D
Thats whats up Hit! The very first time we spoke you told me, "This year calisthenics is gonna blow up", and your right! Im proud of ya,keep this movement strong & positive.
this is dope, glad to see calisthenics work out is getting sum exposure..what other news channels actually asked for an interview, if you have sum more pls post up and keep inspiring..
thanks. we've interviewed with INSIDE EDITION, already but it hasn't aired yet and we also have an interview with MSG SPORTS CHANNEL, as soon as we get the footage from those interviews we'll post them.
Glad to see some exposure on TV to REAL workouts and not the gym shite/infomercial devices/BS bowflex that most people think of when you say "work out". This is awesome!
