Wow. First heard this song in the Summer of 1990 and recorded it off of the radio (remember doing that??) because I thought it was so smooth and soulful. Never could find out who made it until just now. 20 years later! Thank UUUUU!!!!
Man oh man... I was so in love with this CD... Talked to a friend 2 day. he reminded me I gave him this cd over 20 years ago... Now I gotta find it again.. Beautiful song... My hat goes off to Ricky Peterson.
I looked for this CD for 12 years & found it in Blue Meanie (SD) paid $30 but it was worth it. Living it Up was the one I wanted but Look Who;s Lonely Now is my all time favourite RP song. Just love it!
I am a great big fan of Ricky Peterson. I am so glad someone posted these songs of his. I used to go and watch Ricky perform at a club called "Felty's when I lived in Minneapolis he was there with a group called Samoa and they were always amazing. I especially loved when Ricky sang "Here we are in love again" I wish there were a recording of that. I thought I saw Ricky once on an old episode of Melrose Place!! Anyway Ricky you got loads of talent!!!
I used to hear this song all the time, and I missed it once radio sations stopped playing it...thanks for posting this treasure as well as bringing back the memories!!
I'm with TL I've loved this song for yrs and what a treasure it is. He was also gigging with David Sanborn for quite sometime as his MD. Saw him him live and he was just killin the shit. An unsung hero of the music who never got his due like so many other great musicians.
Nightwatch is an incredible album; got the vinyl, CD, tape & 12". I dig Bill LaBounty's original and Ricky Peterson's is just as heavy. I saw him at the JVC Jazz festival recently (Hollywood Bowl) w/ David Sanborn. His "Smile Blue" CD has a cover of "What You Wont Do For Love" that is killer. A real talented cat for sure. I understand the entire family is quite gifted and his brother St. Paul was a member of The Time and lead singer of The Family. Thanks for posting this tune. You made my day!
Thx for the info, I only heard two cuts from the cd and was blown away. Ricky should have got more radio time for this work. My father was a jazz musician so I know what real music is just like you.
NightWatch is an incredible contemporary jazz album and when you consider the level of musicianship from a cat like Ricky Peterson - he may just be a little too hip, deep & heavy for all of these pseudo smooth jazz "wave" radio stations. We used to listen to KUTE 102 FM back in the day (Los Angeles, y'all) - and they definitely promoted Nightwatch as well as Smile Blue. In my opinion, these modern day WAVE fluffy-jazz stations have really done a disservice to the genre.
This song is sooooo smooth, NEVER GET TIRED OF IT.........
What happened to him?

To be honest, I thought only a few would like the song but I get alot of requests to put up more of his music.

He also did a nice remake of Bobby Caldwells What you won't do for love. Why hasn't he put out anymore music?

It'd be great to post "All I Ask of You" from his Souvenir album as well. Wondering if any of you folks have it.

I had to dig this CD out again and load it in the multi player. Over twenty years old and this CD is still amazing. Ricky Peterson is the TRUTH!
