  • Hi, your presentation is the most professional I ever seen - Thanks!

That's why I believe you can help me out with my problem:

I just bought the Sennheiser G2 and the problem is that the signal from the receiver goes only to the left channel.

My seller is trying to convince me that this is normal behavior, because Sennheiser is a MONO system.

Is it normal behavior? Or the receiver is defective?

The details of my setup are here:

    ... /watch?v=Ks8t_3_zSzs&feature=youtu.be

    Please answer!

  • @vadim367 Thanks. The Sennheiser G2 is a mono system. Most folks take the mono signal and Pan it center so it comes out both the Left and Right speakers. It depends on your camera/mixer recorder. As shown in the video, I will hard pan the signal Left and record with Lower levels than on the Right side, then I'll pick the best of the two tracks in post.

  • @dvestore Thank you very much for the answer!

So, my receiver is not defectiv!? It's the most important for me now.

What do you mean by "Pan it center"?

    Is that special setup cable?

I have an idea to get a mono-to-stereo cable: the mono jack into receiver and the stereo jack into camera (Canon 60D)

But I can not find the cable like that no where:(

  • Hi,

I have purchase the Sennheiser G2 on eBay, and after setting everything up (using your tutorial), I got just Left Chanel working.

The seller, told me, that he called Sennheiser, and they say, that it's a MONO microphone and the signal goes either to the Left or Right chanel.

It does not sound to me good.

Can you please confirm that G2 is MONO or STEREO???

    Thanks

  • Great tutorial!

  • @lakestatefishing Thanks!

  • A great tutorial!

    Very clear and understandable!

    THANK YOU!!!

  • Thanks for the great info, tried to hit your add on your vid so at least you get a few pennies for your trouble. Thanks again.

  • lol at 2:57

  • Thanks ! and Great job.

  • quick question: can you connect more than one mic to one receiver.. for instance a lav and handheld?

  • How do I remove the Mute from the transmitter?

  • Thank you!! We've had these two $500 each Senn. cordless mics systems for over 3 years now and haven't been able to use them because we here a zipping sound (for lack of a better word); hopefully they'll work now using the settings you mentioned. It doesn't matter if the receiver is 2 feet from the transmitter or 20 feet.

  • Thanks, that was great help for me :)

  • Will this way work: I want to buy the sennheiser EW112 G3 A band> use the 3.5mm cable to go from the Sennheiser receiver and record into my iPod Touch via that 3.5mm jack> use 'voice memos' on my iPod to record> upload to iTunes and edit/sync through Garageband/Final Cut Express 4?

  • damn it…… wish i saw this video before my one shoot…… learned my lesson tho!!!! Thanks a LOT!

  • Don't forget to add a WindCutter to your wireless recording kit.

  • Thank you for the instruction video. I'm now set to document and veterans ceremony.

  • thank man, u helped out of a bind!

  • @xlseeor Glad to have helped!

  • 2:58 - Your scream made me laugh.

  • Wow thanks I have had these units for years and never knew all this stuff! :)

  • Very informative, thank you.

  • Excellent Video, Sennheiser should package your video and provide in the packaging....and of course give you a percentage for every sale...

  • LOVE THIS VIDEO. I just picked up a new never opened unit and you saved me.. Thanks a million..

  • This video saved me at least 2 hours of experimental faffing. Thank you!!

  • hey there... i just got the g3 set... can i use both the wireless lav and handheld mic?

  • What is a better bundle the G2 or the G3? Thanks

  • I use this when teaching.. Great vid!

  • nicely explained and clear sound!! haha

  • Congratulations on a great job. You made setup a breeze.

  • Thanks for the help dude!!!

  • Probably one of the most useful videos I've watched.

  • cool stuff dude..

  • How do you connect your mics without having the ma-200?

Please respond (I got the xl1-s)

  • thanks for this tutorial! its helpful:D

  • Thank you for this great information!

    Buzz Garwood

    ActionTouch Media

  • It was great to navigate through the entire menu and get familiar with the units. However, I'm having several problems. The factory default brings me to 661.850 MHz and by switching banks, I can only get it down to 627.25 (bank7)

In addition, the RF button is not lit and the receiver says mute next to pilot reading.

please help, I've used another set of these before but never had this much trouble setting them. Would like to buy my own if I can get more comfortable with them. Thanks!

  • Thank You - it was very helpful..

  • I've watched this video mucho numero times. Matter of fact, every time I take this unit out of the box I review this video. Thanks Guy ... I'm sure I'm not the only guy who don't read instruction manuals and you've save their bacon.

  • Excelente video, me ayudo muchisimo. Muchas gracias. Una pregunta : Lo puedo dejar en Automatico mi audio en la camcorder o tengo que usar Manual?

  • I used this tut a few years ago and I never had to re-adjust my mics. Now I have new mics because of the FCC ruling and here I am again! Thank you, twice!

  • @A5runner Thanks for watching, twice :)

  • Thanks for the great tutorial.

  • fantastic tutorial. thank you!

  • We are having a little trouble with this unit. We can not find open channels, ,, when we scan for open channel, it shows 00 open. Only one time we had open channel and this unit worked great. Any info is appreciated as to what we could be doing wrong... we followed all steps for proper function but still no audio....

  • @Stjamesinthehills Is the transmitter off?

  • thanks for the reply, Yes the transmitter is off and I have reset the unit several times. Funny thing is, I went back to the location where it worked before and this time I got 00 free channel ... so I am stumped. The batteries are new and I followed all instructions, as far as I know. I know the unit works because I've used it but for some reason I can't get the open channel.

  • @Stjamesinthehills The G2 units only autoscan the BANK that you are currently in. Try switching to another BANK. There are 8 to choose from. Hope this helps.

  • @dvestore Hurrah, that worked. I had the unit in hand while reading this, tried changing the bank and success.... thanks very much for your help.

  • @Stjamesinthehills Yea! Don't you just love the interweb :) The new G3 units will scan all frequencies, which takes a lot longer, the G2's only scan the bank that you're currently in. Give a call when you're ready to upgrade to G3 or if you need a better sounding lav (the stock me2 is ok, but there are some better options) Cheers! 1-877-353-8077

  • @dvestore just at a glance at some of the products you sell.Just wondering if you ship some of he products abroad ( the EU ) also.

  • Great tutorial! Thanks very much for taking the time to do this. Helped tons!

  • nice one. very informative. i feel much more confidant about using these rented lav's now. cheers!

  • I've got this unit. LOVE it!

  • Excellent presentation / tutorial style. Props, sir.

  • OK so the mic pack is a great tool BUT and this is only a slight niggle if your doing and interview at a Amature Radio event then use a seperate micro audio recorder because these mics Dont like High EM interferance as you get from standing near a large array of antennas and several hundred Watts of RF power.

  • Sennheiser Wireless Evolution G3 please

    Thank You

  • FANTASTIC VIDEO!!!!! I just bought two of these and watched your vid and was up and running in minutes!! My camera has twin XLR input adapter and I've set each receiver to a different freqency. Works great in the office but I'm going to a trade show in a couple of weeks with an person doing interviews, do you foresee any pos problems?

Receiver 1 = clip mic to interviewer.

Receiver 2 = stick mic for inteviewee.

  • Thanks for this video, made it simple and easy to set up the units on my camera. The levels were spot on and adjusting the balance helped eliminate any clipping in the environment I was shooting.

    Appreciate the effort

  • i have the same system except i have the HEADSET one. I was wondering what or where to get the handheld compatible wireless microphone on its own. I dont use the headset much since i dont play any instruments

  • Very good tutorial. Thank you.

  • Great video, you explain everything very well. This is a great mic!

  • Thank you. I'm glad that you the enjoyed the video. It is a fantastic system. Cheers!

  • VERY cool videoe! Thanks, that has good stuff to kno. This is the mik that I use on my videoes, but my uncle sets it up. You can listen to how good it sounds by searching for "Westley's Magic". Its the first videoe on top when they all come up.

  • How do you pack up the microphone cord so it doesn't start to crackle after a while, i have been through a lot of those things.

  • You are awesome, amazing talent to inform and teach, you should make a huge living on this internet tutorial era. You have in you.

  • Thanks for your comment! The CL1 cable is an 1/8" miniplug to 1/8" miniplug for connecting the Receiver to consumer cameras that do not have an XLR input. Most consumer cameras only have a miniplug input. So it's an extra cable in your case. Hope this helps!

  • great tutorial.. just as a nitwit of cables. Still trying to get it work on the camera. How to set it up the receiver and transmitter, was very clear.

Just a question. I now have one cable in that box CL1.. What kinda cable is that please?

    What use has it?

The CL100 is attached on the camera.

    Thanks in advance for answering

  • Great tutorial mate. I'm interviewing a VIP tomorrow and I've got piece of mind!! Thanks

  • I watched this video two hour before an important shoot with a well known politician. Thanks a bunch. Wouldn't have figured out how this kit worked in such a small time. The manual is just useless.

  • I'm glad to of helped :) -Guy

  • Great video. My mic plug has somehow bent, but still works. I will buy a replacement - any suggestions? is a sennheiser mic best, or another brand? Thanks AB

  • Good tutorial. Its needed. I have two 8 unit systems. MKE 2 ME 2 great mics . Great range on the transmitter. The weakest part of the entire system is the CHEAP 3.5mm plug on the end of the lavalier. It turns the entire system into junk. New plugs are about 9 bucks each. If yours haven't quit yet , they will. Nothing like having a theater full of people paying 30 dollars a seat and having a chep plug ruin the job. I have used Sennheiser gear for the last 35 years This is unlike Sennheiser

  • Great video! Thanks

  • Awesome. If you need a 2nd set, an upgraded lav, or any other Sennheiser mic, remember to think of us and give a ring 1-877-353-80777 Support DVeStore so we can make more cool videos!

  • thank you so freaking much. this video just saved my ass with a problem i was having with these things. Thanks so much again.

  • Thanks! Helps a ton. Keep up the great work!

  • Great explanation. I just ordered mine. It should be here in a few days. I feel like I already know how to use it properly. Thanks!

  • Why the mic doesn't come with a setup video like this is beyond me. Good work!

  • Great video!

I have this system, and it works great once you tweak it.

Why the defaults are so hot I will never know. With suitable adaptors, it works great as a wireless audio feed from a mixer.

  • Thanks. I'm glad you liked it!

  • I just got mine out of the box, and setting it up was a breeze with this tutorial. Thanks for sharing!

  • Awesome. I'm happy have helped!

  • Great info guys, I was wondering why the levels were so high right out of the box. I wonder how many people have screwed up an entire scene without figuring that out first.

  • Wow. That is a very complicated interface. And I am always astounded that these devices do not have automatic limiting to avoid peaking.

  • Tay Zonday totally just posted on this video.

  • That's rad.

  • Great info. Where do you find you background music from?

  • Well, it didn't save my life but it definitely helped. I would have sworn that my mics were just defective but it turns out that I was the problem. I suppose I should spend more time reading the manual... or just watching your videos. Thanks a ton!

  • This tutorial actually saved my life, no lies. What I couldn't figure out was, if you have more than one actor, and you want to get them both talking at one time, how do you do that? I could only get the receiver to accept one frequency at a time. That's a problem that's really buggin me

  • Awesome! I'm glad it helped. You'll need two Receivers for two actors. Each Transmitter needs it's own Receiver. We sell just the Receiver, if you need one, give me a ring 1-877-353-8077-Guy

  • And what if I was to say be capturing audio for more than two ppl? Most cameras even at the pro/prosumer lvl only have two xlr inputs for audio. Would I need to get a mixer and plug them in there or more up to the ew 300 G2 series? Would that make a difference or am I just confusing things?

  • You might want to look at getting a BeachTek or JuicedLink XLR audio adapter for two inputs. You'll need a receiver for each transmitter. It is a 1:1 ratio unless you look at something like the Big Ole Audio Technical 1800 dual channel.

  • Great mic! I use it in all of my stories.

  • LOL @ when he yells to peak the audio

  • Use a separate recorder such as an Edirol R-44. Or get the Sennheiser Wireless and a 1/4" to 1/8" cable to send a LINE level signal right into the SK100 wireless body pack transmitter from the mixer.

  • This is great!!Many tnx

  • Great tutorial a big thank you!!!

  • Wow. Great tutorial. I wish Sennheiser had just included all this information in documentation with the unit. You are a life saver. Thanks.

  • Excellent Tutorial! Thank you very much.

  • Thanks for the help.. i had the both transmitters on

  • Thanks for the video... i was able to get the units working with a lav mic, but then i tried using the plug on transmitter (skp100) with a sennheiser md42 handheld mic and got squealing sound with my voice faintly in the background. Do you have any idea what might be the issue? Also I'm recording on to a small voice recorder.

  • Is the bodypack transmitter turned off? Is Pilot tone off? Are the units a few feet away from each other? Did you perform an Autoscan? Also try testing with a second XLR mic and fresh batteries.

  • You probably had 2 transmitters on at the same time on the same freq....

  • Thanks for this video! One thing sort of left out is Pilot has to be on for both receiver and transmitter in order to work. Easy to figure out, but someone might not think of it.

  • hey do u do on wireless guitar connection? if so,do update me. thanks! :D

  • I viewed your tutorial and followed it to a tee but I still get a big static noise. Any ideas how to solve that. I have a Panasonic DVx100b. Thanks.

  • I had the same issue. Very easy, you plug the receiver to the camcorder and the mike to the transmitter. If you plug the transmitter to the camcorder you get that static noise.

  • The advice is good. Out of the box the mic itself was clipping. We had to reduce the sensitivity on the transmitter to -30 after testing the defaults with two different talent. In the end -30 resulted in clean sound with no clipping. NOTE: it was not clipping at the camera, it was clipping in the units themselves.

  • Thank you!

very informative, you save my day :)

    Thanks

  • Thanks a lot. I have had one for 2 years now, and always thought you had to use an XLR to adjust the sound. This has been a big help

  • Glad to help!

  • Very educational! Now, is it true that we have to scan and tune every time we're on a diff/location? is so, how do we do it?

  • Thanks....though uh... did you actually watch the entire video? It tells you exactly what you're asking - how to AutoScan and how to Change the Frequency.

It is advisable to *always* perform an Autoscan before a shoot.

  • ottimo video! qualcuno conosce un posto economico dove comprarlo apparte adcom?

  • i just wanted to let you know that i've been having serious issues with this mic for months now and after watching this simple tutorial i am once again in love!

    THANKS THANKS THANKS!!!!

  • Excellent! Thank you.

  • As allways - educational, professional and awsome! I'm a customer and expect me to be so for a loooong time.

  • Buy it at the DVestore and use the coupon code "dvgeartalk" or on ebay user ID dvestore

  • What's the benefit of using the coupon code? A discount or something? I'm interested in buying the G2 kit too. I really need a hot shoe extension though, cause my cam/rods are out of space :D

    Nice video, thanks.

  • $10 off which you can use to get a "Rycote" shoe extender. Using the coupon code also let's us know that people are watching the videos and buying because of them. That way we can produce additional content!

  • Awesome, guess I'm going to be your next costumer then ;) Well, within a short period of time.

    Thanks
