They replaced the music in this because they probably didn't have the distribution rights to rebroadcast the original copyrighted music. Happens all the time when TV shows go to DVD - either they have to pay to get the rights again, or they replace the music. The "Daria" series had the same problem... all the period alternative music got replaced when it went to DVD.

it's because they must have wiped over the master tape when they rebroadcast it. This episode was originally released a couple weeks before milli vanilli's equipment malfunctioned, and they had to reveal they were lip-syncin to thier music, and, after this controversey, someone dubbed over this and a couple other sections of the master tape with "Mega Move", and hence, it's why this DVD has that song. Some original recordings of this show with the "Blame it on the Rain" and other vanilli songs.

Dude...a lot of things had to change in order for this series to come onto western television. I'm sure they did their best to keep it as original as possible, but considering this concept didn't belong to the animating company in the first place, yes, some names and appearances just had to change. If you really can't take it this way, why don't you start a petition to produce "better" cartoons for today.

May as well just enjoy what we were given. It's better than NO Super Mario cartoons. :)
