  • they are good but listen to this i just went into the 6th grade and im singing this song and we gave the same vocal arrengements

  • Good job, though I'd cool the sapranos abd altos and let the tenors shine through, same with baris and basses, its the same with my chior in Iowa, but anyway, it is a beautiful song done beautifly.

  • some tenors jumped the gun!!! lol. but, this was beautiful!!

  • Hermosooo!!!! =)

  • hey parents... leave your babies at home! they ruin every choral recording ever!

  • we sang this song in an all girls chior, i like this alot better

  • ah, finally found the same arrangement we sang in high school. beautiful. great job, you guys :)

  • That is beautiful. They sound way better then we did at our concert.

  • @MusicalMindAssault I sang this arrangement of Oh Shenandoah in my Texas high school choir back in, oh, 1979-1980. It was also on the All-State choir song list that year. It is truly a magnificently delicate arrangement. I'd love to hear the Texas All-State choir's version from last year!

  • Beautiful rendition, people... thank you. This is my favorite arrangement of this classic American tune...

  • great job - ya'll are super tight - rehearsed to death i'd say - bueatiful tone in the beggining melody only part - then when they come togetger. . it's like a breath of fresh air . in spring time. and yo'ure in love. hahah

  • I'm singing this song for chorus that's y I serchd it :-)

  • I think this arrangement is fantastic, and your choir has done a super job with it!

Congratulations! This song brought me back to choral conducting. Great job!

  • we sing this song too

  • I think that this choir is one of the best. Allthough the camera quality isnt that good. I have heard them live and they are AWESOME!

  • I wish we had done this when I was in Concert Choir. Mahalo for doing the best arrangement of Shenandoah ever.

  • great memory. Our high school from Kenai Alaska did this on tour one year. Truly a beautiful piece of music, best done with full part harmony, full choir

  • i love this song, and i love those shirts...man i wish i went to school in hawaii...i really really want to go to college there! at least for one year...

  • this is amazing. great job.

we have finals on this song.

  • I love your shirts! At my school, it was just robes.

  • I'm dissapointed by the men in general...

How do you fail on entrances?!?!?!

  • auditions??

  • :) You guys did an amazing job. Our choir is doing this song too and I can only hope that we sound as fantastic as you guys.

  • AWESOME. GREAT job.

  • our choir is singing this its such a beautiful song =]

  • great job but i agree wit chae

    basses quite dissapointed

  • I Love this song, my favorite patriotic song ever.

  • the bass 2 part in this is ridiculouuus.

  • thats cause ur not a bass 2 its not that low :p

  • oh I love this song, 'specially the 2nd bass pass part. check out UNM Concert Choir's version. Bradley Ellingboe directs that song so good.

  • I sang this version two years ago!

  • i just sang this one last year in my Concert Choir, and i loved it. I love hearing the different ways the directors changes things to ake it their own and unique to thire choir. Bravo!!

  • Wow. What a sound! And for high school! Beautiful!!

  • BYUH is actually Brigham Young University - Hawaii.

  • Very beautiful ^^

I liked the way the girls sounded

  • Great job guys

However, did you basses drown after the first page? Quite dissapointed by the basses..

  • nice blend ladies, amazing sound

  • i love haley westenra

  • im gonna sing this at my school performance with my friends w00t!

  • yeah i just started this in chamber choir. very tricky. so pretty tho. wonderful job.

  • I really like it! Althought there are a couple mistakes.. but the sopranos are doing a good job!

  • i sing this song in honors chorus although we dont sing as high and we have a piano playing but its good

  • what are you talking about? this song is very hard to sing because one its meant to be slow! if you sing it fast it takes the essence away. the men and women did screw up a little not being entirely unified but they did a good job. they have pretty good sopranos and tenors altos but there seems to be little or any low bases which is essential for this piece. overall they did a good job

  • actually i enjoy the tone quality of the women in the beginning

  • Where are the basses?!

Tone down your sopranos, and balance the other parts. And use some dynamics...

  • watch the Cologne Cathedral Boys Choir version

  • not impressed

  • my high school choir sings it a lil faster n it doesn't sound as dead. singin that song as slow as they r will put the audience to sleep 4real!

  • supposed to be super slow lol.

  • It's supposed to be sung with a pure tone... the sopranos and others are giving it way too much vibrato.

  • The old Robert Shaw version is killer.

  • I do believe this is the Robert Shaw arrangement

  • I know what you mean about singing just a melody line in unison, can be very boring. But there's your challenge--to use dynamics to give interest.

  • yup dynamics make all the difference.. and unison is difficult because it is hard to get everyones voice (and for some people their vibrato) to sound as one voice

  • its good..

  • heh

  • i had to sing this song in music in jr. high.

it's a wierd song to sing

  • Besides the fact that the sopranos were vebrado crazy and louder than they should have been, it was beautiful ^.^.

  • My Choir is singing this Thursday Night, it is an Awesome song :)

  • So, it's been a month, how did it go?

  • Same exact arrangement as the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, but hey, I ain't surprised, and if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

  • My sister's high school choir is performing this for regional festival..

they did the Erb arrangement, so the first two sections are a soprano and and alto solo, she's got the soprano and it sounds amazing.

  • Great song! Well done! Love it!

  • I think your choir sounds good, However for this song I think that you should teach your tenors how to better support their middle range. The sopranos sound good but they sound more as if they are just mimicing each other instead of supporting.

  • heh trying being in 9 yrs old and doing this

    but nice job i^_^

  • Dude i get goose bumps everytime i listen to this song.

  • Beautiful!

  • Its Soprano heavy and too light on the Tenor Line...its supposed to stick out more then it does....But John Rutter is a musical genuis when he directed this and thats how he wanted it...its still fantastic....right in time and everything, and the soprano alot call and response is beautiful and flawless....now if only i could get my choir to sing it like this we'd be set for state comp.

  • Feels a little soprano heavy.

    but hey, that's everywhere.

  • I sang this in VA All State Chorus in 1995 with dr James Erb. He and Moses Hogan are the best

  • Yeah, we're just learning this in choir and it sounds so gorgeous. Can't wait to perform it :]

  • I just sang this tonight four the Eastern Regional Concert, it was amazing. We circled the audience and it was just amazing. It's too bad that this perforamce is so beautiful and there are people caushing and sneezing int he audience along with cell phones and babies because this is wonderful.

  • this was hella good we r learning this song for our choir and now i cant wait to learn it

  • We sang this when i made All- Region Choir in 98'. Such a marvelous song indeed and we flat ripped it that year. I love this performance, they did an amazing job! This is such a beautiful song indeed. Thanks for posting! GO MORMONS!

  • Thank you...

  • Wow. Utterly speechless. Such artistry.

  • Fantastic!

  • love it.

  • Beautiful! :D

  • Stunning rendition of this choral classic. Congratulations.

  • we'll done

  • Sang this song my second year in highschool.

    Haven't since. What a shame.

    Bravo.

  • My goodness, that was great.

  • beautiful arrangement!

  • Great job! This is fantastic!

  • A B S O L U T E L Y B E A U T I F U L .....

  • I agree!!!

  • Beautiful job everyone! The chords at the entrance of the full chorus gave me chills.... perfectly in tune. I love Hawai'i's tradition of great singing, whether tranditional Hawai'ian or standard rep. The Islands are magical.

  • I agree! What a lovely performance.

  • great job

  • Awesome job guys!! One of my favorite arrangements!
