There's a man here in Detroit who preaches the schwa named Uncle Jerrold. He was even in the paper. He hands out pamphlets wherever he goes and will talk about it for hours if you let him. He even has a little cart with books and new words made up that use the schwa regularly.

He's awesome. If you google "Uncle Jerrold", you should find the article.

Schwa was the bane of my existence during my phonetics course. Stressed? Unstressed? Add the little hooky-r on the end (especially difficult, given that I'm a New Englander)? ARGH!
