Jess will always be the one for Rory in my mind, but I really loved Marty...up until the disaster that was Season 7. Here's the way I like to think of it: There are two Marty's. Amy Sherman Palladino's Marty, and the Marty the new writers gave us in Season 7. Amy's Marty I loved. Season 7 Marty? Not so much. More like not at all. :/

I liked Marty. I mean, I don't think Rory and Marty ever should've become a couple, but I wish they hadn't written him out the way they did. I mean, I don't get it, there's the whole thing where he tells Rory he likes her, then he just disappears for two seasons, and then comes back for two episodes, then disappears again? After that dinner with Lucy and Logan ratting Rory and Marty out, he was just never mentioned again. Wtf? At least give the Rory/Marty friendship some closure.

I think Marty was the best of all the guys rory dated bc he seemed to be a combination of the Dean, Jess, and Logan...tall like dean, loves books like jess and smart like Logan...the only thing missing is that he doesnt have any money like logan but who cares. lol

I never understood why Marty and Rory never panned out.
