Of course not! What they want is someone who will give them more money and it doesn't matter what diploma you have. If you can't rake up what you need, you'll still be jobless.
@NickD25 Depends, some career fields are so institutionalized that they would turn down a skilled laborer if he lacked the required documentation; i.e. physicians, engineers, aerospace, military officers, etc.
@NickD25 if you want to get a job as a computer programmer the best thing you can do is develop your own software, either open source or whatever. This lets a company know you have experience and they can see your work.

If you want to use credit cards... payments first, then charge.
@moistfaucet I agree. A degree does not equal money, but that does not mean they don't have tremendous value. College will teach you how to communicate, both written and verbally. It will teach you how to critically think. It will teach you how to work with others and as a team. College will teach many kids responsibility by meeting deadlines and being punctual.
A degree may not directly get you a paycheck but it will put you ahead of others. So many people in this country can't even write!!
@wentafew Sorry, I couldn't disagree more. College doesn't teach communication when your Professor sits up there and demands everyone agree with him. Try working in a union factory at 20. I guarantee you you will learn communication skills faster. Also, "critical thinking", don't make me laugh. College is all theory. I was Plant Manager at a Logistics facility. Now, thats critical thinking. Sigh, the old work with others as a team line. Thought that line of boo boo died in the 90's.
@SeanP7195 It's America and you are free to disagree... However, your disagreement carries no weight with comments like, "College doesn't teach communication when your Professor sits up there and demands everyone agree with him." A ridiculous comment like that clearly demonstrates you have zero college experience and zero understanding curriculum goals and outcomes.
But, I'm sure you can count and keep track of widgets really good.
@wentafew Umm, no actually it's you who obviously has zero College experience. One of the biggest complaints among students these days are Professors who bring their politics into the class and make it dominate the discussion. Many who speak against the Profs idealogy may find themselves getting a lower grade or a stern rebuke. Their are many articles and clips on the subject. In fact, an entire legal team known as FIRE was established to combat it. Perhaps you can do some research.
@SeanP7195 I don't need to do research; I live it every day. I am a college lecturer, and although I am limited to my institutional sphere of influence, I can safely say that your claims do not fit the views of me nor my colleagues. That is not to say that an instructor you describe does not exist, but do we call all cops bad because of 1 bad apple?
@wentafew I would suggest you go beyond a few colleagues at the JUCO you teach at do some real world research. A good University Lecturer wouldn't shy away from a little ugly truths, even if it taught him some things he didn't wish to know now would it? Again, if you think it's "1 bad apple" I know a few hundred thousand students who would strongly disagree with you. My nephew is in his first week of College, FIRST WEEK!! and he's already lecturing me about why I should be a liberal.
@wentafew There's never been one bad apple. There are SCORES of bad apples. Lectures can be shown on video to the entire world if need be. One lecture reaching everyone. How much does that cost? You're done.
@Vote4RonPaulLiberty There are SCORES of bad cops, should we rid ourselves of police? You're a Ron Paul fan, that's great. He happened to graduate from Duke. I guess he saw some value. There is so much more to college than lectures and memorizing facts. It's not for some people, and obviously not for you.
@wentafew If you're saying there are so many bad cops that citizens are being victimized more often than protected then yes. Had you watched the video in its entirety while paying attention you would know that college forty years ago is not what it is today. And no one said no one should ever go to any college for any reason at any price no matter what. Ever.
@Vote4RonPaulLiberty More college students aren't being victimized. Sorry, college is still a choice. Guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on that.
@wentafew It's much less of a choice when more and more fields require degrees over ability, ambition, intelligence. They push for it to keep their gravy train rolling in. Not being in the top 1/3 of your class doesn't mean you aren't smarter than those who were. College didn't take discipline or dedication for so very many who partied their way through it. You do realize there are college courses on such topics as dragons and science fiction, right? They might be a little easier than physics.
@Vote4RonPaulLiberty Yes, they do have elective courses. They also have required general ed courses and requirements on how many courses must be taken within a major on top of specific courses that must be taken in a major. Students that party there way through are normally the ones crying about how college didn't do anything for them. They thought a degree equaled a job, and it doesn't. Seriously, the more you talk, the more you show how little you really know about it. No offense.
@wentafew Actually, how little you know. You've made major assumptions about me and what I'm saying instead of paying attention. I know how it works. I know what goes on. I know it's highly overrated. I know that you don't need a brick and mortar building to learn. I know that some of the most brilliant minds in history were self-taught. I know that you're definitely not one of them.
@wentafew And by the way, I didn't say ANY of the things you refer to. You're coming off as delusional, I hope you realize. Please stop posting and save yourself further embarrassment. Have you read the majority of the posts here? They're from people wiser than yourself.
@Vote4RonPaulLiberty The fact is that companies and firms require a great number of jobs be filled by college graduates.
The fault is with the private sector-if they werent so enamored by college grads, people without degrees could easily fill a great number of jobs out there.
Frankly, that is the way it was decades ago.
It is easy and cheap screening system for employers.
@wentafew Nice shaming attempt. You are clearly a stooge for University profits. Sad, my 2 businesses making widgets doesn't require me to lie to people and try to use lowbrow tactics to get my point across. But anywho, nice try and please...oh pretty please allow the opportunity to destroy your advanced College minded opinions you are no doubt going to share with us pathetic leemings.
@SeanP7195 Yes, I'm sure you own 2 businesses and make truck loads of money, and you never needed college to be successful. Talk is cheap. You were the one claiming that your "real life" experience trumped anything college could provide.
You can be successful without college, and a college degree does not guarantee success. However, college does have value beyond awarding an advantage in an ever increasing competitive work place. I'm sorry you fail to see that.
@wentafew Yeah, you made it obvious you worked for a University. These College are a scam videos must scare you and the the thought of losing your cush job. I am still getting a good laugh out of your "college teaches you how to communicate and how to work as a team" statement. You know who else teaches those? The US Army. And you actually get paid there and don't have to go into 100k of debt. Unless you were in the top 1/3rd of your High School class, College will be a total waste.
@SeanP7195 You don't have to go 100,000 of dollars in debt to get a degree. Spend 2 years at a community college, and then 2 years at a state college and work part time along the way. I was not in the top 1/3rd of my High School class. I see you like Ron Paul. He saw the value of college apparently. He graduated from Duke. Some people can't cut it in college. It takes a lot of discipline and dedication to earn a degree, which just so happens to be something employers like in new employees.
@wentafew Keep telling yourself only smart people go to college and only smart people can earn a degree and you'll continue to show just how dumb you really are.
@Vote4RonPaulLiberty This is your problem, you argue just to argue. You obviously aren't listening. Where did I say only smart people go to college??!? The guy before me said that. I said I was NOT in the top 1/3 of my high school class. I said college takes discipline and dedication. That has nothing to do with intelligence. So really, who is showing how dumb they really are???
Ohh and if you were making fun of my for saying I "was" a Plant Manager at a Logistics company. A little news flash. I made more than the average Engineer, Attorney, Social worker, Plumber, and most pilots. Sorry to dissapoint you and your intellectual friends who can't afford a Martini anymore cuz your job got sent to Mexico.
Actually, if you have a college degree, Walmart won't even hire you as a shelf-stocker. If you have a college degree, the hiring manager will see you as a potential competitor for HIS job. He wants stupid kids as his stocking staff, to ensure they don't get promoted to take his job. For some jobs, you are "too qualified" even if the hiring manager doesn't officially tell you that you are.
@eggiex1 Yep, the US economy is dog shit and if your parents dont have money you are FUCKED!
college is WAAAY to expensive, the degree isnt worth a fart. China owns our asses and its a matter of time before they call in thir debt and we default, we can only keep raising the debt ceiling so far until other countries get fed up.
@eggiex1 Its a FUCKIN LIE! College is a SCAM! Its all designed to take your money, Useless bullshit classes! and there's no jobs anyway! People with master's degrees are working in Home Depot!! You will need a PhD to work in Fast food soon! and wash dishes!!
@eggiex1 , yep, can't argue with you. The economic policy CANNOT continue for long, or we are facing the same thing that it going on in Greece and other places. It's the 'R" word. Can you guess the word?
@TheBrotherMouzone True. It's something I'm pretty passionate about since I'm a college senior and I know first-hand how dreadful the system has become. I'd really want to stress it isn't my school particularly, because anywhere else I went I'm sure it would be just as bad if not much worse.
@heightboosting Gerald always tells it like it is. I have a degree from University of Florida, and I can tell you it IS worthless.
I hate college kids, they just go to school so they can pretend they are trying so their parents can keep supporting them, the only thing they are really learning is how to suck and fuck and how to take vodka eyeball shots.
@agenthelios1 in some ways the only things a lot of these kids are going to get out of college is some good memories because the jobs probably won't be there.
@deeppurple28 People like you always assume because degrees are worthless that its a liberal arts, or water colors 101 degree.
Give me a break..I have a degree in business. My comment is not only from my experience , but from observing others. I know several friends who have a degree in Computer Engineering who also think degrees are worthless. These are guys who will be able to school you on mathematics and physics. So be quiet and go suck off your parents until they die.
@agenthelios1 You truly are the load that Bitch you once called mommy should have swallowed. Listen you fuck faced faggot, you are not the only one with a degree in business, and just because you don't have a Game plan, it doesn't mean others don't either! You fucking retarded putrid pile of donkey turds!
@agenthelios1 Admit it you Faggot, you have No game plan and you are probably a pussy too! Latest numbers show that the Unemployment rate for College Grads is a miserable 5% ! HA HA HA PULL YOUR HEAD OUT OF THAT LOOSE CRUSTY CREVICE YOU CALL YOUR ARSE YOU COCK MUNCHING TROLL!
@deeppurple28 The unemployment numbers are conservative. If you dont like what Geral Celente has to say then go watch CNN and Fox and they will tell you that robots like you are right.
I have a degree and its worthless (like many others) No one said "i dont have a gameplan)...I actually have my own business, I commented because I know what its like going to BS interviews and your degree means 0. Listenm to you, are you 7 yrs old? You sound like a bitter queer!
@agenthelios1 You completely ignored the unemployment rate for those with a college degree, you are a fucking imbecile you little Fag! Besides, I don't get my numbers from Cnn or Fox you fucking cumm drinker! But don't ignore them you twat, the unemployment rate for those with a Bachelors degree or better is a mere 5%! You stupid cunt!
@agenthelios1 Did those people with Computer Engineering degrees receive jobs in their that field? Is it worth doing an electrical engineering degree?
@morwelllad Electrical engineering..NO. Especially if its a rip off trade school like ITT Tech or those others you see on TV.
JOb security isnt what it once was.
I just spoke to the radiologist as he was reading my X -rays and even he said that the medical field is getting to the point where you dont know if your going to have a job next month or not.
@morwelllad if your interested in electronics, read a book about it first before just shelling out big money to persue a degree in it, you can get lots of old used text books for under $10 on amazon. a degree is just a tool when it comes to engineering, it's not a garuntee of sucess, you have to be competant to be sucessful at a job in engineering, ITT tech is fine, you still get a Bachloers degree which is the minimum requirement for most high level jobs.
@TheBrotherMouzone Its a FUCKIN LIE! College is a SCAM! Its all designed to take your money, Useless bullshit classes! and there's no jobs anyway! People with master's degrees are working in Home Depot!! You will need a PhD to work in Fast food soon! and wash dishes!!

You can't be an engineer without a degree, you can be a stockbroker though and make millions of dollars.

I love how this guy loosely links the education issue with financial issues as if they are entirely interrelated.
movcrit 5 months ago
if you associates college degree with money, you are heading to the wrong direction.
moistfaucet 5 months ago
@moistfaucet I agree. A degree does not equal money, but that does not mean they don't have tremendous value. College will teach you how to communicate, both written and verbally. It will teach you how to critically think. It will teach you how to work with others and as a team. College will teach many kids responsibility by meeting deadlines and being punctual.
A degree may not directly get you a paycheck but it will put you ahead of others. So many people in this country can't even write!!
wentafew 4 months ago
@wentafew Sorry, I couldn't disagree more. College doesn't teach communication when your Professor sits up there and demands everyone agree with him. Try working in a union factory at 20. I guarantee you you will learn communication skills faster. Also, "critical thinking", don't make me laugh. College is all theory. I was Plant Manager at a Logistics facility. Now, thats critical thinking. Sigh, the old work with others as a team line. Thought that line of boo boo died in the 90's.
SeanP7195 4 months ago
@SeanP7195 It's America and you are free to disagree... However, your disagreement carries no weight with comments like, "College doesn't teach communication when your Professor sits up there and demands everyone agree with him." A ridiculous comment like that clearly demonstrates you have zero college experience and zero understanding curriculum goals and outcomes.
But, I'm sure you can count and keep track of widgets really good.
wentafew 4 months ago
@wentafew Umm, no actually it's you who obviously has zero College experience. One of the biggest complaints among students these days are Professors who bring their politics into the class and make it dominate the discussion. Many who speak against the Profs idealogy may find themselves getting a lower grade or a stern rebuke. Their are many articles and clips on the subject. In fact, an entire legal team known as FIRE was established to combat it. Perhaps you can do some research.
SeanP7195 4 months ago
@SeanP7195 I don't need to do research; I live it every day. I am a college lecturer, and although I am limited to my institutional sphere of influence, I can safely say that your claims do not fit the views of me nor my colleagues. That is not to say that an instructor you describe does not exist, but do we call all cops bad because of 1 bad apple?
wentafew 4 months ago
@wentafew I would suggest you go beyond a few colleagues at the JUCO you teach at do some real world research. A good University Lecturer wouldn't shy away from a little ugly truths, even if it taught him some things he didn't wish to know now would it? Again, if you think it's "1 bad apple" I know a few hundred thousand students who would strongly disagree with you. My nephew is in his first week of College, FIRST WEEK!! and he's already lecturing me about why I should be a liberal.
SeanP7195 4 months ago
Ohh and im not one of your students. Please don't condescend to me.
SeanP7195 4 months ago
@wentafew There's never been one bad apple. There are SCORES of bad apples. Lectures can be shown on video to the entire world if need be. One lecture reaching everyone. How much does that cost? You're done.
Vote4RonPaulLiberty 3 months ago 2
@Vote4RonPaulLiberty There are SCORES of bad cops, should we rid ourselves of police? You're a Ron Paul fan, that's great. He happened to graduate from Duke. I guess he saw some value. There is so much more to college than lectures and memorizing facts. It's not for some people, and obviously not for you.
wentafew 3 months ago
@wentafew If you're saying there are so many bad cops that citizens are being victimized more often than protected then yes. Had you watched the video in its entirety while paying attention you would know that college forty years ago is not what it is today. And no one said no one should ever go to any college for any reason at any price no matter what. Ever.
Vote4RonPaulLiberty 3 months ago
@Vote4RonPaulLiberty More college students aren't being victimized. Sorry, college is still a choice. Guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on that.
wentafew 3 months ago
@wentafew It's much less of a choice when more and more fields require degrees over ability, ambition, intelligence. They push for it to keep their gravy train rolling in. Not being in the top 1/3 of your class doesn't mean you aren't smarter than those who were. College didn't take discipline or dedication for so very many who partied their way through it. You do realize there are college courses on such topics as dragons and science fiction, right? They might be a little easier than physics.
Vote4RonPaulLiberty 3 months ago
@Vote4RonPaulLiberty Yes, they do have elective courses. They also have required general ed courses and requirements on how many courses must be taken within a major on top of specific courses that must be taken in a major. Students that party there way through are normally the ones crying about how college didn't do anything for them. They thought a degree equaled a job, and it doesn't. Seriously, the more you talk, the more you show how little you really know about it. No offense.
wentafew 3 months ago
@wentafew Actually, how little you know. You've made major assumptions about me and what I'm saying instead of paying attention. I know how it works. I know what goes on. I know it's highly overrated. I know that you don't need a brick and mortar building to learn. I know that some of the most brilliant minds in history were self-taught. I know that you're definitely not one of them.
Vote4RonPaulLiberty 3 months ago
@wentafew And by the way, I didn't say ANY of the things you refer to. You're coming off as delusional, I hope you realize. Please stop posting and save yourself further embarrassment. Have you read the majority of the posts here? They're from people wiser than yourself.
Vote4RonPaulLiberty 3 months ago
@Vote4RonPaulLiberty The fact is that companies and firms require a great number of jobs be filled by college graduates.
The fault is with the private sector-if they werent so enamored by college grads, people without degrees could easily fill a great number of jobs out there.
Frankly, that is the way it was decades ago.
It is easy and cheap screening system for employers.
MultiSmartass1 3 months ago
@MultiSmartass1 Agreed. But you give in and go along with it or you fight to change it.
Vote4RonPaulLiberty 3 months ago
@Vote4RonPaulLiberty This isnt some bill in Congress-this is the private sector.
If employers want college grads to fill jobs, then that is what they are going to get.
You cant fight it-you just find a job that works for you.
MultiSmartass1 2 months ago
@MultiSmartass1 Of course you can. You do it by refusing to meet the demand.
Vote4RonPaulLiberty 2 months ago
@Vote4RonPaulLiberty People have a choice when it comes to education-they can go to college or not.
However, they do not have a choice when it comes to the job market-they either have the experience and education required or they dont get the job.
Very little you can do to change this.
If you wish you can lobby employers to consider hs grads for jobs but not much else.
MultiSmartass1 2 months ago
@wentafew Nice shaming attempt. You are clearly a stooge for University profits. Sad, my 2 businesses making widgets doesn't require me to lie to people and try to use lowbrow tactics to get my point across. But anywho, nice try and please...oh pretty please allow the opportunity to destroy your advanced College minded opinions you are no doubt going to share with us pathetic leemings.
SeanP7195 4 months ago
@SeanP7195 Yes, I'm sure you own 2 businesses and make truck loads of money, and you never needed college to be successful. Talk is cheap. You were the one claiming that your "real life" experience trumped anything college could provide.
You can be successful without college, and a college degree does not guarantee success. However, college does have value beyond awarding an advantage in an ever increasing competitive work place. I'm sorry you fail to see that.
wentafew 4 months ago
@wentafew Yeah, you made it obvious you worked for a University. These College are a scam videos must scare you and the the thought of losing your cush job. I am still getting a good laugh out of your "college teaches you how to communicate and how to work as a team" statement. You know who else teaches those? The US Army. And you actually get paid there and don't have to go into 100k of debt. Unless you were in the top 1/3rd of your High School class, College will be a total waste.
SeanP7195 4 months ago
@SeanP7195 You don't have to go 100,000 of dollars in debt to get a degree. Spend 2 years at a community college, and then 2 years at a state college and work part time along the way. I was not in the top 1/3rd of my High School class. I see you like Ron Paul. He saw the value of college apparently. He graduated from Duke. Some people can't cut it in college. It takes a lot of discipline and dedication to earn a degree, which just so happens to be something employers like in new employees.
wentafew 3 months ago
@wentafew Keep telling yourself only smart people go to college and only smart people can earn a degree and you'll continue to show just how dumb you really are.
Vote4RonPaulLiberty 3 months ago 14
@Vote4RonPaulLiberty This is your problem, you argue just to argue. You obviously aren't listening. Where did I say only smart people go to college??!? The guy before me said that. I said I was NOT in the top 1/3 of my high school class. I said college takes discipline and dedication. That has nothing to do with intelligence. So really, who is showing how dumb they really are???
wentafew 3 months ago
Ohh and if you were making fun of my for saying I "was" a Plant Manager at a Logistics company. A little news flash. Sorry to dissapoint you and your intellectual friends who can't afford a Martini anymore cuz your job got sent to Mexico.

College is a big waste time and money.
I started a lawn mowing business at the age of 16, and now i make around 80,000 dollars a year with no degree.
My friend dropped out of high school at the age of 16. He recently started a junk removal business and now he makes over 100,000 dollars a year.
SuperPatriot4life 7 months ago

@TheBrotherMouzone True. It's something I'm pretty passionate about since I'm a college senior and I know first-hand how dreadful the system has become. I'd really want to stress it isn't my school particularly, because anywhere else I went I'm sure it would be just as bad if not much worse.

Give me a break..I have a degree in business. My comment is not only from my experience , but from observing others. agenthelios1 1 month ago
