Having 2 uncles that are pastors it is hilarious, but true, don't think for one minute that either are money grubbing evangelists. At the drop of a hat with only have met you once or sometimes never met you, they would be right there to help you with any problems and ask for nothing to be there.
sad but true. it takes a special kinda woman to be a pastor's wife - so glad i found mine! sure hope i don't live up to this stereotype ... i sure don't wanna be billy graham lols ^_^
You know what? I'm a pastor's kid as well and to be honest some things in this song are true, but my mother wasn't like the wife of that pastor pictured in this clip... Whenever my father was gone somewhere, my mother told us to pray for him and by doing this we felt as if we are a part of his mission and his call and of course there were also a lot of times when we were going with him. I am afraid that this is why a lot of churches out there are suffering.
I love this video! I am a pastor's kid, and while this video is funny it is also often true! If you see this happening with your pastor, make sure they get time to see their family :)
Nice new words to an old tune ))). And you guys sing it very beautifully. Caitlin's voice is unbelievably sweet - makes my heart stop and melt inside. If she ever sings professionally, I'll be a devout fan. I'd love to visit your church, but it's quite a long ride from Moscow. ))
The belief that a cosmic zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh, drink his bl00d and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evll force from your soul that is present in humanity because some rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat a forbidden apple from a magical tree.”
Ah, yes... Parental and spousal neglect... The holy traditions of serving God. My parents were fortunate enough to both constantly be busy with the same work, so they were always together. Us kids, however... Well, let's just say that I, my brother, and my sister are all dealing with the psychological scars in our own separate ways. It's so WONDERFUL knowing that you mean nothing to your own father compared to those whiny bastards at church who treat him like crap no matter what he does!
2:15 - Hey, isn't that the UBS Greek NT? I have that!
I love the part where they sing, "Long winded blessings and old illustrations and everyone thinks he's a saint. His wife, yeah she loves him, she puts up with him, but that's one thing she knows he ain't." So true for most married couples in a spiritual community.
Oh and I so was just waiting for the vibrating of the phone at the end!!! Somehow I just knew it was coming... and I didn't even expect ringing... I knew it would be on vibrate!!!
Appreciate the light hearted nature of this video. It's only funny cause it's true! Loved the quality of the video, too. The various sets, the various camera angles and putting it all together...very enjoyable to watch and kept me curious to see what was next. And you didn't disappoint with the ending! Great script!

This stupid video was shown at Pastor's Appreciation Day??!!?? Whose idea was that and how does this video honor or appreciate pastors? If anything, this video is a sobering reminder for pastors to learn how to correctly balance ministry and family. The Apostle Paul said that a man unable to manage his home should have no buisness attempting to manage the church. We need to be balanced.
Ha, ha! Too funny as it's too true! As a PK, I can totally appreciate this one! Was so happy when I moved away to college so I wouldn't have to be my dad's secretary and take messages for him all the time. Most people don't realize it's a full time job - and then some.
bloody hilarious! i know a lot of pastors who this video is sending up and they don't even know what they're doing to their families. too many think they honour God by being a soft touch. shame. great ending too. this should have a million hits!
Hysterical!! Especially the ending! I'm married to a pastor/military chaplain and I can't even count the number of times I've said to him, "Honey, you're buzzing!" when his blackberry goes off. What a hoot! Thanks for the great laugh!
This is really great ! It's hilarious, but it is so well-written, and well-procuced, and well-delivered, and I love the duet. Whoever wrote this is really good. This song came up on a post I just did to my channel for "Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Bankers." I'm glad you're into religion instead of finance or you mighta beat me to it. --Jan
I can remember an old lady at church saying she had asked a friend of hers "What would you do if God called your husband to preach?" She said "Oh, honey, I'd divorce him."
The people @ church can be very hard on PK's w/ expectations. I make it clear that my children are no different then other children. I hear all the time that their behaviour reflects my parenting..Well, when my hyperactive 7 year old son is running around or being squirmish in his seat, even though he his listening to every word, he just needs to be active in the process so that his mind can process. If the members think I am horrible then I guess I'm no saint & neither are they! :D
I think the hardest thing for me was that I never fit in with the other kids at the church because I was different. and sometimes its hard to seperate the person you see at home as just your dad, a dad who also makes mistakes.
And even if my parents give me time and my dad pays attention to me sometimes it's more than that. Sometimes it's less what you do and more the pressure we feel from others. I know now that my relationship with God is just that, My relationship with God...but for a long time I felt like everything I did was judged and looked on by the people around me. It was hard for me to be just another kid at the church and not the pastors kid.
Nice video and sadly some of the comments are how pastors are not being biblical. Being a shepherd is a large job descriptions. It's the people in churches who expect this, demand it and want a new pastor when they don't get what they want. Consumer mentality. Being a pastor is a call!
i agree that being a pastor is a call but you know what sometimes people forget the people that stand behind them.I've been a pastors kid for over 8 years and even though my dad gets up there every sunday and he has a BIG JOB DESCRIPTION, it takes a lot out of the kids and the wife. They have pastor appreciation month....what about pastor family appreciation? I deal with his late nights, distractions, and long sundays too!
and don't get me wrong...i appreciate what he does and I know God has called him into it...but sometimes it can be really drainning on his family too. when your the pastors kid your expected to be perfect. everyone looks onto you as an example. sometimes that can be really hard.
Not important, just curious due to the fact you stated you had been a pastors kid for the past 8 yrs. makes one wonder if you are 8yrs. old writing a complex reply like that..I was thinking what a very intelligent PK. I'm a pastors wife, please don't take age question wrong. I pray constantly that I'm able to raise my kids to be themselves & independantly think. My hubby also makes sure that his PK's have plenty of daddy time so not to feel like they're last in line. I understand!Blessings 2 U
I didn't take it wrongly, I was just wondering. And no I'm not 8. I'm 19 now. It's not as bad now as it was for me when I was younger. But I see my younger sister going through it now too. I'm sure that you and your husband are doing a great job! and I'll pray that your kids feel truly blessed by their parent's ministry.
I don't want anyone to get me wrong. I look up to my parents! Ttheir ministry and passion for the Lord is truly inspiring. I hope that I can too serve Him with all I have. I just meant that sometimes it can be really hard to be a PK.
however, today's incarnation of the role of the 'pastor' is not very biblical at all. That's why this video is so funny and the comments so revealing.
yea it's funny... but it's also very sad! pastors who act like that need to get their priorities straight... God calls them to love their wives like Christ loves the church. obsessive about ministry, bringing church home, etc... not God's plan for pastors.
Agreed. Neither is making an idol of "ministry" - this bit about aspiring for a big ministry like Billy Graham...that's not God-glorifying. We are here to serve God, not our own ambitions.
good grief, folks..... this was meant in fun and good clean humor. Your self rightousness is showing through. Of course, the first rule in self-salvation is to put your self above others and point out where they are "less" than you.
No, just a realistic accountability for what this kind of behavior is really about -- self-glorification.
It's not about being better-than, it's about not letting pastors be martyrs. Having been a pastor, I am not standing outside and judging, but rather looking at my peers and holding them accountable.
This is so funny and very true. I go through this on a day to day basis. All is trub but very funny. God bless all who put time and effort into the video.
haha... so true. My dad is a pastor and EVERY SINGLE TIME we'd go on vacation, some old person at church would die & we'd have to leave early for the funeral. Didn't matter if he'd ever met the person or not... Sister so-and-so who was at this church a hundred years ago passed, so we'd leave our vacation after the 2nd day to go home for it... sucked.
