  • I just bought a new laptop HP 635 and it was running Linux SUSE but didn’t like it, tried to install Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bit. After writing the product key etc. I get to choose a disk where I wish Windows to be installed, but couldn’t, every disk was like blocked it said something about formatting, so I did the format and than it gave me this text “windows is unable to find a system volume that meets its criteria for installation” I googled it but nothing that I understand came by!!! Help?

So you just want to have Windows Vista take all of your hard drive space then?

If that's the case. I think this has happened to me but my problem was that I forgot to completely delete any and all information I had on there before I tried to install. So it asked you to format the Hard Drive. So basically go to each partition and delete it. Now you you've deleted everything click the "Disk 0 Unallocated Space" with all the free space and it should work.

  • just got a hp 635 laptop with suse linux enterprise 11. how can i install windows 7 over it. cant even find to open boot menu so i could boot from dvd . if someone knows i would appreciate it . thx

  • @Bad888Max

Well I'd tell ya how I'd go about doing it.

I believe all laptops should have boot from dvd first as the setting. However, If that's not the case. You'll have to change it in the boot menu. Your laptop should be "ESC = Boot Menu" "f10 = Settings" and "f11 = System Recovery". After that just change the setting in "Menu" to boot from Disk Drive as your first setting. Then boot from Hard Drive as your sec.

Then you can just follow my vid. and your all set.

I'll send ya a message that way I'm able to type more.

  • If I have Windows 7 installed already, do I need to reinstall it? or can I just go straight to installing Linux?

  • @TheSicksign

Ya you can. Linux great about being versatile. You're ablel to try linux from a CD, or install it on top of windows, as if it were a program in windows. And if you don't want it anymore you can just delete it.

  • @Akoa0013 Thanks for that. :)
