  • I love the way Fogerty drops his arm between chords during Blue Suede Shoes, it shows such style - and then the way he says "Holy Mackerel" after he says Dylan asked him to play Proud Mary. And I love the way Taj is having the best time of everyone.

  • I wish I could've seen this! All amazing musicians in there own right...well maybe except Bob Dylan, don't like him very much.

  • This is Taj Mahall, Bob Dylan hahahaha

  • WOW, 1987... wish I was there... Jesse died about a year later... saw the Taj on Kaua'i last year... still goin' strong.

  • Great!!!

  • These (all famous performers in their own right) great iconic musicians are having a blast! This is an unbelievably post & I am loving this music. That they would all be in town at the same time is unreal. Wondering if it was a last minute planned encounter. It's known they are all friends, but to see them really rock together is legendary.

  • i was so blessed to have been at this show. unreal !!! i can't believe there is vid of this out there. I remember when everyone realized there was a Beatle in the house all the phones had lines out the door ( the pay phones were in the bathrooms)(no cells at that time). God i miss the Palamino

  • INCREDIBLE footage! Dylan, Harrison, Fogerty, Taj Mahal in some little Hollywood club. How I wish I could've been there!! Fantastic!

  • Taj needs to stop his hand clapping and background singing on Proud Mary. sorry, but its annoying

  • @4FabBEATLES Up there with Yoko on Live Peace in Toronto, innit?

  • OH GOD DAMN IT!!! I cant believe that I found this video!!! My sister begged me to go see Taj Mahal at the Palamino. I said no! She told me they locked the doors and played till well after 2....it took me years to get over it.

  • @MrJpcline horrible mistake, i feel bad for you haha

  • at least musician back then knew how to admire each other's work and support eachotherr without jealousy and drama unlike today.

  • Thank god Taj was there with his inspired hand clapping. What a drunken mess...I love it.

  • Maravilhoso, estou me sentindo como se estivesse lá, thanxs from brazil, valeu, long live palomino!!!

  • The Palamino!! RIP!

  • Bob Dylan solos always impress me.

  • George just loved being in a band as he said in many an interview. Wasn't it Tom Petty who said to Forgerty that if he didn't start doing his Creedence songs that people would believe that Ike & Tina Turner were responsible for Proud Mary?

  • @russelljdj It was Bob Dylan who said this to Fogerty.

  • it's like the audience has no idea who these legendary performers are!

  • Bobby T! and Jim Ehinger on keyboards.

  • I wonder what so many legends were all doing there at the same time and how they all had instruments? looks like they planned it all to me- every person did like 2 or 3 songs and they all knew what to play

  • music back then was awesome- and its even greater when so many really good musicians get together and play

  • Legend has it that Bob Dylan convinced John Fogerty to sing "Proud Mary" here by telling him that "unless you do, everybody is goin' think that Tina Turner wrote this song!" As beatlesaus points out, John did not perform "Proud Mary" (and many of the other CCR songs that he wrote) for many years.

  • Man I miss the Palomino.....so many shows, legendary performers were there.

The photos on the wall kept me busy the whole time when I was in there.

Last time it was Johnny Winter....He nodded off backstage after he came out and twanged on his guitar and tried to tune it. His band announced "sorry...there will be no show tonite....Johnny isn't feeling well"

  • @econoroller They did have so many great photos. They also had some wonderful posters of Bob Wills and other old timers/ There was a huge picture of Johnny Cash just behind the piano player's back.

  • Could they be happier?? They are having so much fun - probably not as much when they were teenagers playing with their friends and dreaming of Little Richard!!

  • Que buen material Histórico, gracias x subirlo :) :) :)

  • History on this gig, from Wiki:

Spring of 1987, The Grafitti Band played w/ Taj Mahal at Palomino Club in Hollywood. Harrison, Dylan and Fogerty rose from the audience to join Jesse Davis and Taj Mahal in an unrehearsed set which included Fogerty's "Proud Mary" and Dylan's "Watching The River Flow" and "Blue Suede Shoes", "Peggy Sue", "Honey Don't", "Matchbox", and "Gone, Gone, Gone".

So, in addition to being fantastic, They did it impromptu, unrehearsed, and totally off the cuff. Incredible!

  • look at dylan laughing :)

  • Wow what a moment in history! Where was I?

  • john has a great voice to sing stuff from the 50s. his version of long tall sally is also awesome

  • Bob Dylan, George Harrison, John Fogerty, Jesse Ed Davis, How great it is =D

  • thanks bob for telling john to sing proud mary. he's been great ever since.
