  • I could wrk there if they switch a two things.

    1. The packs should be Scott packs

    2. They need traditional helmets not those ones they have now.

I know I could do that job. That's cuz I am a firefighter in isle of wight county Va

  • wildfirecnf: ???? just train!

  • well 1 thing u need to get the job is to be a minority or a female. gone are the days where the best and most qualified candidate are selected. its a shame.

  • @wildfirecnf You are sooooooo right. Seems most jobs are nothing but politics.

  • @wildfirecnf

no different on East Coast. makes me sick...

  • look at that... a comedian too !!!

Once a bozo... well, you know the rest.

  • Serving and training since I was 16 years old!!..Just got my 5 year certificate with my dept!!:)....Love the Fire Service..Stay safe brothers!!:)

  • and sisters of course!

  • yeah we know... you gotta be able to point a hose at a fire.... anything else?

Yeah, the guys who work bush fires work, as for the city morons.. all brawn but no brains.

I'm not a fireman by the way. Never wanted to be.

  • well you don't have a fucking idea what your talking about

  • @zrett7t if you wear a wig and learn to control your dribbling no-one will ever know you've had a lobotomy

  • Respect to my brothers and sisters everywhere! However, I must say, though Id love the excitement that would come with such a big name Department, I am extremely happy serving the community I know.

  • So I have always wanted to join a big city Fire Department. And I plan on joining either LAFD or FDNY. I just don't know which one! HELP!

Any information helps. Reply to this comment, send me a message whatever!

  • If you havent wanted to be LAFD your whole entire life you have no business being in the LAFD

  • in order to be FDNY, you got to live in one of the 5 burroughs of New York City. Hope that helps. Look into other cities as well, all fire departments in general are pretty good, they are always "the best".

  • Not true. You just have to live close to the city of New York. People in New Jersey are in the FDNY. They just wanna make sure your not in the FDNY and traveling from Atlanta every single day for your shift.

  • Is it easier to get into LAFD then FDNY?

And what makes LAFD better? Not criticizing anyone, just wondering.

  • No it's not easy I don't know how they do it over at the LAFD but here the FDNY has 15000+ applicants and few jobs. You need to know your shit excuse my language. Depending on your grades is where your put on a list and when your number is up they put you in the academy. No I am not in the FDNY but my father is and he says the same thing. Just study real hard and make sure you can get 100% correct on the test.

  • ya, u really shouldnt be dead set on two departments, cause its a realy competative job, id be testing everywhere u can

  • im all FDNY so i was wondering is LAFD a aggressive as the FDNY

  • FDNY is the busiest fire department in the world but LAFD fight some bigass fires, like brush fires you see in the video. And on the news it's always on there.

  • Does LAFD Hire outsiders whom are already Certified (ex. Level II FF,EMT-B,Rescue Tecnician) and if so do they still attend an Accadimy or Fire School...im from NC so im not sure how CA does things and i was Just curious.

  • Unfortunately, the City of L.A. only hires entry level recruits for the position of firefighter. The certications you have earned would no doubt help you in getting your foot in the door and eventually you could apply for a position where these skills could be put to use however, you must pass through the entry level door first.

  • Oh okay I see now... its very simular to Charlotte NC fire school

  • I'm curious about the weight rating of their 24' wooden ladders.I can't believe they have been using them from the very inception of LAFD.Very aggressive, very impressive!

  • nope, thats how we do it

  • wrong way to raise the halyard

  • You don't raise a halyard, you raise a fly.

  • meh you knew what i was saying raise/pull....halyard/fly my bad :)

  • those scba's didn't look in good shape

  • training scba. thats why.

  • awsome
