THANK YOU for posting these helpful videos. i have been using vintage synths and emulations for many years. anyone who is interested in learning modular synthesis/ being an electronic musician should study these videos!
I recently acquired a software emulator of this synthesizer, and these videos are quite informative! You seem to catch a lot of you tube shit comments.... but you take it well. Cheers!
the thing that amazes me the most is that you sound like you actually know what every knob does... i always thought all these synth-nerds like depeche mode or nine inch nails just push some buttons, and if something sounds great, they loop it.
in 90's NIN used several cheap DX-7's on stage for smashing into pieces. A lot of people on the Earth don't even know about the ability of FM-programming & treat DX as a preset-keyboard)))
No, that's completely fair. Synths shouldn't be bought for what they are, they should be bought for whether they sound how you wish they would, and how well you can use them in your own music. If the 2600 doesn't suit you, that is very reasonable!
Thanks! They have a nice character, much like the speakers in the Moog Sonic Six. They are not the way you should record the 2600, except that they have a certain character about them. The stereo aspect is nice, too.
The next FOUR videos will be on the oscillators alone. I have two more near done on the filter. So, you're going to be getting a new video about every week for several months! Thanks for watching!
Thanx so much. Exactly how many oscillators does it have? I'm sorry I ask so many questions... I spent my entire day watching videos, commenting and asking questions. I'm lately just trying to learn more about about vintage synthesizers. Ive added several of your videos into one of my playlists and put your song what you bought in my favorites. You make freakin awesome demo videos!!!
It has not been overhauled. A lot of the sliders need a good cleaning, and some of the jacks need adjustment or replacing. No modifications are visible!
Yep that is me :) Thanks for liking it. I recently baught an Ms-50, so now i have a complete MS-serie. A lot of blips and blops. I think i will post a new video soon. Best regards.
While it doesn't approach Carlos' modular, its internal wiring generates some surprisingly modular sounds. To me, it sounds more like a Moog modular than a dot com modular does!
It is really the perfect intersection of sound and functionality in an analog synth, in my opinion! For years I avoided the 2600 and the Minimoog, hoping to find what I wanted and needed in other, less common, less popular synths... in the end, I guess I see what all the fuss was about. : )
I downloaded the Arturia ARP2600 V demo just to refresh my memory and while it's a damn good emulation, it's just not the same as having the real thing sitting in front of you.

@nondescriptman I was lucky that I got a brochure in about 1979 which inspired me to recognize their musical value and functional power. : )

It has three oscillators which are each switchable to be LFOs, plus a square wave oscillator/clock built into the Sample and Hold module.

It seems that this machine could keep a person happy for years and years. Is it the ultimate sound designers tool?
I can't begin to imagine the fun you're going to have with this mate!

It has gotten rare here, too. I got REALLY lucky when I found mine. I remember when there was usually one on eBay.

You can be very lucky one to have. Beautifully that you us sharings leave.
