  • 10 dislikes from major oil companies

  • hahaha Chevy just anounced they are cutting production of the Volt because they only sold 1600 units out of the projected 60,000 . that means they met less than 3% of their goals. way to go Chevy, you have done it again. now go ask Obama for more bail out money.

I am considering to buy one of the Toyota hybrids soon, my parents have a 3rd generation Prius , everything about the car is nice. (Toyota Build Quality) 24,000 base price VS. 41,000 for the Volt, Chevy what were you thinking ?

  • Prius sucks!

  • of course you're better than the prius you're twice as much in price

  • How does this car compete at all with the Prius C? I'm just beginning to research, but it looks like a similar car at twice the price without Toyota's quality.

  • You know, you got me. You are right. I'll stick with Ford, at least they didn't have to be bailed out by the people. Yea, the government gave them the money, our money. Scumbags, and scumbag vehicles.

  • what kind of warranty does chevy offer? is there enough money to replace the parts on this car

  • Do they make a 100 mile extension cord?

  • @pweedman11 That's what the gas is for..... Did you watch the video?

  • @TheJman6360 I'm not sure what you'r saying but I did see that the generator is gas powered

  • if the car has an on-board generator why plug it in? if the engine kicks in at 30% electrical power why have an on-board generator?

  • whats the song called

  • Monthly payment would be like $750.00 to buy. A Cobalt would be like $270.00 to buy. Do the math. Can buy a lot of fuel for the difference. Which one do you think could go 1000 miles cheaper? Which one can do a 1000 miles at 55 mph quicker? Which one will be worth more in 5 years?

  • @Wickhaven1 Who would buy a trashy cobalt?

  • Why put money into this thing? $45000. Seriously? Is there anybody that would do that?

  • they are making a cadillac version of this...in case anyone has $35,000 extra.

  • my husband and i went to look at one today the car is 45,000 dollars the government rebate is 7,500 dollars well that is a scam the dealer told me that you might not get the rebate the government didn't cut any rebate checks and they are not guaranteeing that your going to get it, and they only have a few of the cars on the lot so you have to wait to get it. and you might not even qualify for the rebate.

  • @elise969 As stated before, it is not a rebate. It is a credit. You should check with your tax person and ask about that. IRS form 8834 is used for the claim on your taxes. The tax preparer would be able to give you a more informed answer.

  • @elise969 Another form that pops up is form 8936

  • @elise969 The dealer has no clue (not surprising since the dealership model is based on last century and sales reps are usually less knowledgeable than you and I). It's not a rebate. It's a tax credit against your federal tax liability. Your state may have an additional credit.

  • Per PG&E, a major utility company reporting to the EPA:

.524 lbs. of co2 are emitted per kwh. produced

    13 kwh's to charge a Volt = 6.182 lbs. / co2 emitted per charge

    40 miles range per charge

    1000 miles \ 40 per charge = 25 charges per 1,000 miles driven

    25 charges X 6.182 lbs. Co2 = 154.55 lbs co2 emissions per 1000 miles driven

ICE autos emit 1000 lbs co2 per 1000 miles driven on avg.

  • What happens when you buy the car? Is the tax break taken off when you buy it or do you get it at the end of the year which I don't like.. I would have CHEVY discount it when I buy it????

  • @kwallyg You get the credit at tax return time. It is IRS form 8834. You should know, the $7,500 is a maximum. Not all qualify for that amount. It depends on your income and your paid fed taxes. Just like any other deduction.

  • @kwallyg If you lease it, GM gets the tax credit and your lease payment is reduced. If you buy, you get the tax credit.

  • Is it weird that I really want one of this? I think it's a better idea then the pure hybrid car.

  • 4:01- 4:05 toyota prius

  • One thing you rarely hear about is the battery replacement cost. All those Prius owners are shocked when they find out that the battery pack costs $4,000 which is factored in to the resale value. So the money they saved on gas is gobbled up by the batteries. LOL

  • @TheThumper49 A taxi company in S.F. was the first company in the US to use the Prius. The cars all got more than 200,000 miles and only one failure on warranty. All of the batties are warrantied (by law) for 100,000 miles / 8 years, or more. Never heard of anyone losing a battery yet.

  • wiiiii!!! lllego el chevrolet volt a Ecuador......!!!!

  • Seriously guys??? Grow up. Do a Google search for "where our electricity come from", click the first link, and be amazed. 48.7% of our electricity comes from COAL. 21.5% comes from natural gas and 19.4% is nuclear. That totals up to about 90% therefore as previously stated by Rush Limbaugh, it is accurate to refer to the Chevy Volt as "Coal-fired". The Car itself is powered by gasoline and electricity, but that electricity has a SOURCE.

  • @Andrew571992 Thank you Andrew. O how the greenies hate it when their lame ass "clean" electric mantra is exposed as a fraud. Hey, how about a windmill powered tractor trailer? Or a solar powered jetliner. I

  • By the way, I'm an ACURA and useto be a BMW owner. I enjoy comfortable cars. CHEVY, monopolize and update your car on this or another car company will. Sell them cheaper and you will have 50,000 cars out there and the gas stations will be vacant.

  • On an average car, People save around 2000 dollars a year gas and the 41,000 Chevy price does make up the price until 6 years later. Hell, the average car last 6 or 7 years. The mark up hinders the average american and puts money back in CHEVY's pocket for the people whose buying this car. I assume this car if for people who really care about the environment and will spend the extra money for a car that will not really save on gas.

CHEVY, LOWER the price so I CAN AFFORD IT....

  • @kwallyg Don't say that...they'll just hit up the gov't and we'll all pay for it!!! AGAIN...

  • @kwallyg I paid $34K after the credit. By your own math, in 5 years, the car will cost $24K. A nice Accord costs about $25K with less add ons. In 5 years, that car will cost about $32K when cost of fuel is added. You are right, I did buy the car for the green factor, but I studied and read real owner reviews and I knew I would break even in 6 1/2 yrs with the OLD GAS PRICES. I drove Caddy's, don't know why someone said the Volt seems cheap!?! The car rides nice. Think about a lease.

  • I recently test drove a chevy volt and it seemed like a 28,000 car more than a top of the line car. I hope Chevy lowers the price for the average family. The 41,000 price doesn't represent the overall build of the car except the electronics. The seats and seatbelts seemed really cheap; however, the ride seemed really smooth and the acceleration was outstanding. If Chevy offered me this car now for 30,000 then I'll buy it.

  • @kwallyg it is before the tax credit

  • If your only gripes were the back seats and brakes, I think the Volt has accomplished its goal.

  • Good job

  • wow what a sick car so cool!!!

  • Sorry gang but I need the rumble of a V-8 when I'm tooling down the highway, and performance can be a matter of life or death. If I want a golf cart I'll buy a golf cart ... for a whole lot less $!

  • @rsfamer you are a bullshit

  • I want it.

  • 3800 lbs. of spontaneously combusting fury!!!

  • "Tesla Model S" is Better.

  • Sorry, but the Volt is a massive failure. At a real cost of 250K per car counting the government subsidies, it does nothing well. and it can't be given away at this point. It will take its rightful place next to the Vega in short order.

  • if it had a nice efficient little diesel, it would be perfect. I also wonder why GM didnt use li-ion because it has a better power to weight ratio, but i guess its not worth the cost. damned nice looking car, up with luxury ones IMO. and apparently the quality is amazing, vauxhaull just released their impero, which is basically a rebadged volt and its not often a german company rebadges an american car as their own.

  • If I had 35K to spend, I would consider it! BUT I dont :(

  • fucking finally! its a nice taste of the future

  • Yeah, everybody is happy...until your garage catches on fire.

  • @markt4909 more like until you crash and don't take your car to a mechanic and leave it there until it explodes, but who is going to do that really? Come on, it didn't just randomly catch fire. I'm sure it would happen to anyone's vehicle if they were in a crash and just left it there for 3 weeks.

  • @Ninjalee23 it's a nice looking car but American car makers really don't make very good cars for the times. They are about 10 years behind the Germans and Japanesse. Healthcare costs for American car makers are now more than the cost of steel. How can they make the best with a fact like that. Give me a Lexus, Honda, Beemer or Mercedes everytime.

  • Rides like a Buick. Good! I'd like to see a woman review this.

  • The GM Ev 1 had 1996 a reach of 220 km with one charge!

    2012 the Chevrolet Volt only 50-60 km...Why????????

  • @yourita Go ask Exxon Mobile, they aren't to happy about these type of cars, or more importantly advancing this type of technology, I wonder why...

  • That is the best car on the market right now. In itself, it is the only luxury car on the market right now. Why is it a luxury car? Because a brand is no longer luxury. Luxury is what your car has that no other car comes with. The Chevy VOLT comes with everything that no one else has!

  • @PilotVBall it totally does, ours has bose speaker system, psi monitor, 30GB built in hard drive, navigation, voice commands, bluetooth hands free, dvd player, ..etc.

It also won't need an oil change for up to 2 year. I think mine is at 80% oil life remaining and i've had it for 6 months now. It is super quiet, and all electric so it doesn't smell like gas. I find lots of neat features everyday.

  • First off, that's not that bad to 60 miles an hour.

Second off, IT LOOKS AMAZING FOR AN EV

And third off, I bought this car in a video game HAHA

  • @XXXCompAssesXXX The car actually goes 101, but that's the limit.

  • @Ninjalee23 and it goes faster than 60mph on electricity (up to 101), it just eats your electric mileage up quicker because your not driving as efficient.

  • Bullshit government crap. Considering how much it cost, even with the billions it got from the gov, it really isn't worth it over a clean diesel, ecoboost or even a hybrid.

  • I've enjoyed the video (like). What I don't agree with is that serial hybrids are better than parallel ones. They're not, because EV mode is the same, but when the ICE motor kicks in, it's more efficient to drive the wheels (and charge the battery if necessary). Volt is indeed better at commuting than the Prius. But on the other side, it's more expensive. It's less efficient than the Leaf at commuting, but it has the extender. Which in turn increases maintainance costs.

  • How were you able to get permission to do that static shot where the car is parked an angle in the middle of the street?

  • @SchlossOtranto what a bunch of crap that is, you can't say that it has $250k in state and federal dollars in incentives when that continues to go down with every volt sold.

They got the money they got to develop/manufacture it, and there is the credits on each sold, the incentives/subsidies is the amount granted / total sales + ongoing subsidy.

Not amount granted/current sales + ongoing subsidy.

  • The best car review I've ever seen. Amazing job.

  • @SchlossOtranto And your point is? Why not broaden it a bit by comparing GM's fed assistance with those to the oil industry, or Amtrak.

Yes, the Volt is expensive. It's not a car for poor people. Yet. Some things need subsidized or they'd never get off the ground - like the space program, as well as the Volt.

The Corvette and multiple internal competing brands is what has pushed GM to the poor house. The Volt is not the scapegoat you are looking for.

  • Real world numbers: 2 months of monitoring with a Kill-A-Watt meter: $0.028 per mile. 2,234 miles driven. 4 gallons of gas used. Total cost: $60 for charging. $14 for gas. $74 total. Old vehicle would have cost $321 for same distance driven in 2 months. Projected 1 year savings - $1400 +. Final cost in 5 years = $30,000 and still going down. Equal optioned Accord = $30,000. Cost after 5 years $37,000 and still going up.

  • give it time, technology will improve and in sweet time, you can go past 250+ miles on a charge. please be logical and realize this before you leave any rude comments.

  • The idea is great we getting the holden volt in Australia 2012, expensive yes 60k. But my commute to work is within the range of the electric motor so no more petrol. This is the future, while we wait for batteries to improve, this gives you a practical electric car.

  • prius sucks

  • with 40 grands (even with gov. incentives) i really doubt you're saving money. if you buy a second hand bonda civic you will be saving more unless you are a delivery driver and drive like 300k miles a year to break even on the gas money

  • How about a volt for a person that makes 8 to 12,000 a year

  • @PhotographerMN I think you may be in Yugo territory.

  • @WDPlumbing I don't get it.

  • @PhotographerMN Google Yugo. : )

  • @WDPlumbing still don't get it.

  • sticker shock

  • 30-40 miles? What if you drive at night an use the headlights, stereo and air conditioner? What about windshield wipers, defroster or heater? Seems to me this is nothing but a regular car, with a small engine and an optional electric mode. Not worth while.

  • @pookatim Wrong. This is not a car with a "small engine" for driving, like a Prius. The Volt works on the principle of a diesel electric locomotive. The small engine is only for powering a generator that in turn charges the batteries that powers the electric drive motor. Very old and proven technology. Well done Chevy. Unfortunate that this car has been ridiculed. Far superior to Asian Tech.

  • @TheThumper49 finally someone with a clue and some well formulated facts. it is so obvious that most people are just doing some bandwagon trash talk and bash the Volt simply because "they heard" something somewhere, when in reality it's blatantly obvious they don't have an any idea what they are talking about. no factual reasoning , no objectivity, no based knowledge, no facts that actually hold any ground and most certainly NO personal experience with the actual product. greetings from germany.

  • @CHUUMPASS Thanks for the intelligent reply. Here in the states too many people have a self loathing thing going on. They come off with outlandish analysis but have never actually done any research or even a test drive.

  • @TheThumper49 asians don't know how to build good cars they just know how to build cheap and fuel efficient cars that have very bad performance

  • @pookatim The car itself is all electric, when it runs out of battery it uses a gas generator to power the electric vehicle, it has no emission. I still get 30 miles no matter what I have on, Radio, AC, Phone charging, etc.

  • Turd. It is a Turd. You can't polish a Turd. You can only flush a Turd.

  • @RHO1953 Gee, what an intelligent comment. Why do 4th graders even post here?

  • Can a volt motor take the driver doing 0-60 in 9 seconds all the time as a driving style?

It would be a cheap hot rod to drive.

  • Edsel, get your Edsel!! For those of you who don't know what that is: The Edsel never gained popularity with contemporary American car buyers and sold poorly. Consequently, the Ford Motor Company lost millions of dollars on the Edsel's development, manufacture, and marketing. The name "Edsel" has since become synonymous with failure.

Just like the The Volt, only taxpayers had to pay for this failure. The government should stay out of the market and stick to building roads.

  • @EugenieFranval2 LOL, now I make $175,000 a year, ha, in my dreams.

  • please review the lexus CT200h in comparison with this car!

  • @Redbeef The Lexus CT200h is a Prius. Search for a Volt-Prius comparison (I'm sure there are plenty).

  • 1:50 BWM?

  • @riisbeder Your question is?

  • Comment removed

  • I've seen 2 in the past week. Guess dealers have them now.

  • I can not wait to get my Volt. truely a state of the art car.

  • no solar power roof???

  • Really nice! :)

But.. where do you plug them into?

  • @KassySoCaL Usually your outlet. Did you have other plans?

  • @kiiiro spoken like a true IDIOT

  • ironic how at 2:12 he passes a prius than a second later starts talking about a prius

  • it Compare it to the leaf

  • it looks nice too

  • now make one close to $20k. That extra $15k goes along way with as gas money.

  • About 40 miles? Chevy, stick to doing what you do best. Let the Japanese handle the electric car stuff.

  • Lol after looking at the zr1 video, I cant believe that the same company that designs corvettes designs, the CTS'V coupe, volt, trucks, all buicks, and something competitive in every class. I would never had seen this coming abt 7 yrs ago, or even 5 yrs ago. Way to go GM

  • 2:13

    Ooh...awkward. Lol :)

  • a 2fer video!?! ...first a compulsory ad then an ad masquerading as an everyday driver review ...2 ads in one video ...how believable can this story be in terms of remembering that we are 'citizens first' ...each one of us is a citizen long before we are 'consumers' in the 'driver sense'

  • nice one guys

  • put a system in the trunk and battery life will decrees in every beat...

  • what is its top speed?

  • @MUHAMMADHAMZA430 The real question is will you be able to merge into the highway safely? 9 seconds to get to 60mph is a little slow if you do not have a merge lane.

  • EverydayDriver, this isn't a pure series hybrid. It's just as parallel of a hybrid as a Prius. It's much more advanced than a Prius, and it relies much more heavily on the electric motor- but the gas engine still can provide mechanical power to the drive wheels. "Series hybrid" demands that there is no mechanical linkage between the gas engine and the drive wheels. That makes the Volt a parallel hybrid. GM got a lot of flak for lying about this detail, and I'm surprised you went along with it.

  • Yet another 'electric' car for fools......

  • @DanM012324

How so? I know cars better than most people do, and have driven just about everything.

Fuel price will probably double by 2020, or at least become as pricey as it is currently in Europe. That would make cars very expensive if you live in North America, where an average cars does about 15,000km every year. It might not be great on snow, but it is still a very good option.

  • @ilion12345 Oh you get me wrong sorry I was just being sarcastic, I'm all for the electric cars it's just this Volt thing is just another car for people who think their being green when the reality is that its just another hybrid and still uses petrol. If people want to be green why don't they buy the Nissan leaf? And especially with cars like the honda fcx clarity coming in the next 10 - 20 years thats the true future of motoring.

  • @DanM012324 Oh, didn't catch that one. You're right, but people must start buying "greener" cars right now, that will increase demand for such cars which means manufacturers will have to respond to such demand by increasing supply. This will then cause a domino effect, where external factors such as competition (among many) will put pressure on the manufactures to fasten their pace and become even more innovative... etc.

  • @DanM012324 And why is that? Maybe electric cars aren't mature yet, but the time for gasoline cars is certainly about to be over.

  • @chrizzly88 Yes I agree with you on that electric cars are in their infancy and they will get better its just that this Volt thing is just the same as a Prius in that its just another hybrid. There's no point of having it if you live in a city and rarely go above 90 miles a day so why can't you just by a full electric car. The only true future car we've seen is the Honda fcx clarity. Thats what companies should be investing in, Hydrogen and battery powered cars are the future not silly Hybrids

  • even after rebate, this car is still too expensive. you're better off buying an econo high-efficiency petrol car or diesel.

  • lol the least of the ugly girls

  • electric cars are sexy

  • Once the network of charging stations is increased in coffee shops, malls etc, the idea of going fully electric will become possible

  • Very well done video, I will buy a volt sometime in the future, got some debt to pay first...I drive 110 miles to work, so it will save me a lot.. rather give GM and the electric grid of America my money, than big oil anyway..Go GM

  • it is nice to see that GM finally makes some fuel efficient cars. but to be competetive in the future, they can't just focus on hybrids and eletric cars. it needs more; for example diesel, gas and hydrogen engines.

  • You'll spend over $30,000 on gasoline over the life of a normal vehicle. Pure electrics like this car is, effectively, will save you more than 2/3rds of that.

  • Costco is reversing course and pulling its chargers out of the ground, explaining that customers do not use them. There are literally millions no, thousands no, hundreds no, dozens of those entering the market on a monthly basis. Won’t be long and car companies will be paying people to drive these things so they can comply with the mileage standards imposed by biggov.

  • @dkkght46 Of course they don't use them, those were the old California non-standarized paddle shifter chargers that are being removed at Costco.... you'll only see the universal J1772 chargers now...

  • Hybrid cars cost so much the extra cost won't offset how much you save in fuel costs. Even if you break even, it's not worth it. A Prius should cost the same as a Corolla or the fuel savings is just wasted in buying a more expensive car.

  • @HunterXray You are 100% right at the moment. At the moment, they are too expensive, and the amount you pay in monthly payments will equal out to about how much you would spend on a regular car paying for gas. But, I'm thinking how much gas will be next year. What if it went to $6? Plus, I really like the look of this car. It is sharp, inside and out.

  • The Volt gets 40 miles on pure Battery-Electric before a gasoline generator kicks in to increase range to 350 miles. At $.02 cents a mile, $1.75 to fully charge, the Volt is the most fuel efficient Hybrid Battery Electric Vehicle in the market.

  • There is a major downside to electric cars that I think most don't consider, that I read about. I read that just one electric car, is the equivilant to adding 1 or 2 residences to the electric grid. So more coal and pollution that way. Read this on the Chevy Installing Solar Charging Units page. Now THAT ROCKS. A home solar power station? Free transportation for as long as they last.

  • @johnstonmatthew2767 Put a big old filter on the smoke stack. Is it harder to control pollution at the power station or in a bunch of cars?

  • @HunterXray Well controling, yeah, it's the powerstations. But that's not easy or cheap. As far as which ones put out more pollutants?? Don't know. Could be the same.

  • i was told that the engine is not mounted to a transmission...how does the engine power the car? this is an electric car with a generator....prove me wrong please

  • There are 6 times the engine will come on when the battery still has a charge. 1. Engine Maintenance mode - if you've been only using electric for about 6 weeks it will run the engine for a few minutes to lubricate it. 2. Fuel Maintenance mode - it will burn the whole tank after a year to prevent stale gas. 3. If you open the trunk the engine comes on to alert you the car is on. 4. If it's below 26F outside. 5. If you are driving above 72 mph. and 6. If you put it into Mountain Mode..

  • @MrEnergyCzar I heard there are 8 times. When the battery temp is too hot or the battery temp is too cold the engine will come on.

  • why does your hair get shorter?

  • you got one thing wrong...the gasoline engine does not power the car....it only recharges the battery....it's not a hybrid, it's an extended range electric car with an engine used as a generator......i wished they would have used a 2 cylinder diesel engine as a generator, much quieter and a lot more efficient.......i have vw tdi and love it....my tdi average is about 36mpg city and about 47 highway....if i drive it at 65mph i can easily get 50mpg

  • @cezardoborn When driving above 72 mph the engine directly powers the car...they originally said the engine never would but at high speeds it was more efficient to do it this way....

  • Those seats are comfortable for sure! This car is absolutely SPECTACULAR! The design at least from the exterior def says "ELECTRIC" or Volt! Definitely going to purchase 2 of these for 2 individuals when I get a huge chunk of cash!

  • Those seats are comfortable for sure!

  • @dorodog Even using dirty coal power, it produces far less pollution than a petrol only powered car. It's easier to put a "filter" on 1 exhaust pipe than millions. Plus coal is not our only choice when it comes to power production. Small steps. We need to stop using petrol in cars all together. I've even seen a car running on nothing but compressed air! Looked and felt like a normal petrol car!

  • if i had the money, i´ll buy it

si tuviera la plata, lo comprara

  • When is this coming to Australia?!?!?!? I know GM is bringing it through Australia's "HOLDEN" badging but when can we expect the release?!?!? Itching to see it in person ;o)

  • They might get a bigger market in Europe. We pay far more for petrol than North America.

  • I wish it looked more like the concept version. That looked more like a Cadillac CTS than a Malibu.

  • Actually, Top Gear had created a car that uses a diesel motor to recharge the electric engine.

  • well done guys

  • there's been reports of dealership ripping customers off charging full price as a used car and pocketing the $7,500 gov rebate. What do u expect from a car dealer??

  • Tesla

  • I have been wondering why is it that this new generation of electric cars have all of this electronic and lighting. Really don't they just suck more power out of the battery.

  • after all the hoople and hype

how is the Volt selling ?

  • Sorry guys, but the Volt is not a series hybrid. The gas motor has mechanical linkage to the drive wheels which can supply traction power in certain circumstances, making it a very advanced parallel hybrid, but not a true series hybrid like GM told everyone it would be.

I still like it, but it's too expensive and too unavailable.

  • Gasoline does have a limited lifespan. What happens if you do not use the gasoline in the tank and it goes stale? Do you just suck it up and switch to gas mode to burn up the old gas in order to put fresh gas in or would you have to siphon it out or something?

  • @ThePurdude - If you only ever use the electric motor, the car will eventually turn on the Gasoline motor to burn the gas. It keeps track of how long the gas has been unused etc... pretty clever. No siphoning required.

  • @ThePurdude

If you never use the gasoline engine, the car will periodically start the engine to keep all the seals lubricated. The gas tank is pressurized with air to keep the gas from going bad. The is a button you have to press to allow the tank to depressurize and open the tank door. The car will keep track, and force the engine to cycle through the gas when its reached its lifespan in the tank.

  • @ThePurdude they thought of this and it warns you when the gas goes bad

  • I live in a huge city. the range just won't cut it.

  • It's a plug in hybrid, I don't get what's so revolutionary.

  • @Unclesamslair

what's so revolutionary, is the fact it has an on board generator, so the 40 mile range is not a limiting factor.

if your daily commute is under 40 miles, you can drive all week using zero fuel, then on the weekend you can do a 500 mile trip.

    no worrying about range.

  • @exaturbo so, still a plug in hybrid. nothing new here people, move along.

  • @Unclesamslair

Yes is new because it gets a HELLOFA better gas mileage and isnt tethered to needing a plugin.

Thats the whole point. It doesnt rely on the promies that some day, there will be plugin stations across the USA.

    It doesnt need to.

  • @jabberwolf neither does any other plugin hybrid. That's the whole point of plugin hybrids, they are a bridge technology to help build a demand for an electrical vehicle infrastructure therefore solving the electric car chicken or egg conundrum. Again, still a plug-in hybrid. Nothing new, nothing revolutionary.
