Its a fine recording....he's singing Puccini for Godsakes not Mozart...if you want to hear real sliding around then opt for the Carreras recording of this....but I like that recording also......

To my ear it sounds to me as if he is sliding a little too much around.I think this piece deserves operatic treatment( of course) but there is simply too much portamento for my liking. Seems to be more Mellochi method rather than Bel Canto in style, not best suited to his voice . I have much respect for Roberto and his previous work but with great sincerity I feel he has gone off track with this recording.
