The Bantu language actually derives from the western & central part of Africa and those particular speakers traveled to the south & southeast Africa and not the north east where you have Somalia, Ethiopia, Eritrea etc so in actuality the Somali language is not part of the Bantu family. "Mbantu" simply means community or people. A white man named Greenberg decided to attach it to a group of languages. Even by his categories, there are thousands of languages in central and western Africa that are not "bantu". Hausa and Wolof for instance.
