  • hi!

Can any one tell me ...is normal to still have pain 10 month after Acl surgery ??? I also had some part of my meniscus removed, if this count?!....and also I hear constantly this snap in my knee every morning and every time that I make a "pause"

Is running allowed after 10 month after surgery ??? Pls I would love to get an answer ....and excuse my "english"

  • @ktincosmin I'd say it's not normal at all. However, it depends on the rehab you've done. In 10m, you're knee should be fairly strong and you shouldn't feel any weakness, although like I said, that would depend on the way you've done your rehab. Running is normally allowed after 2m I'd say, wearing a brace...generally speaking it takes around 5-6m to be back to normal. Could be less, could be more!

  • @divanov thanks for you fast answer! So the best will be to contact once again my doctor who performed the operation and then a proper rehab physician !? I want to mention that I can do some squats (6-12reps without any addition weight ) but i can't go as "down" as I want . Leg extension with weights btwi 5-10 kg , ( with 10kg I can do up to 6-10 reps but all ready I can fill a sharp pain inside the knee)also leg lunges. But all this come with certain amount of pain in my knee!

  • BRo i had my knee surgery a month ago it is loose. Does rehab fix that. and is that normal for it to be loose?

  • @BustG when you say loose, how do you mean it? I'd say it's not normal to be loose at all, but it depends on the graft that was used. Mine was patella tendon, so no, it wasn't loose and it took some time and pain to get range of motion back to normal.

  • @divanov i inboxed u facebook me busta gee.. but itsrealy unstable and if i put my thigh in the air i can feel the joint move.. or if im layin down and shake my legs i can feel it aswell

  • there is ayurvedic integrated therapy available for acl injury at kerala India, without hurting the joint (surgery) conservative treatment i feel better option before going for surgery. it is time tesed and more than hundreds of sports persons playing with torn ligaments and meniscus,,

  • just found out i tore the right one. went to steal the ball and planted my foot more on the side than the center. knee bent outward.

  • his knee is going way to far forward @ the beginning of the video

  • my right knee got clattered by some player on footie, i am on my 12th week but it might be on my 7 - 9 week cos i might have damaged it futher by going back too early... is that even possible that you go back one or two weeks if you feel like you damaged it?

  • I had my ACL replaced on 7/27/10. I'm in week 7-8 of rehab but I'm contemplating on stopping and continuing rehab on my own without an actual therapist. Do you recommend as long as I'm doing these types of exercises?

  • @sal26 You have to remember that every case is different and your progress does depend on a lot of things. Personally, I did do most of my rehabbing with a trainer, though I didn't necessarily need to as I got used to it and I knew what I was doing. It's useful to have someone around to correct you and push you where needed. Some stuff you can do by yourself, and others you definitely wanna have someone around. I can't recommend you doing all by yourself

  • @sal26 heyy 2 days before me

  • i have a question, i am at 5 weeks post acl reconstruction on my right knee with meniscus 10% removal due to tear, i can manage most of these excercises and will add them to my routine. How many times shall i do them in a day? how many times a day were you doing them?. Right now i do 2-3 times a day a set of exercises. Thanks for sharing and will really appreciate a reply.

  • i KNOW way too many people who tore their ACL and its always the left knee i wonder why?

  • @6ophia ...I tore my right ACL...it has to be a random event, ha

  • @6ophia

Most people are right-handed, so it may sound crazy but people who are right handed mostly jump with their left leg, myself i play basketball and every one jumps with their left leg, so maby that's you answer =)

  • @6ophia

so i might b the 1st one with acl torn in my right knee ;-P

    randomv- playing paintball :-|

I'm having an operation next Thursday ;-/

bit stressed and searching thru the net for the time after the op :-)

  • @6ophia Same here lol left knee

  • the thing to remember is every case is different..im 4 weeks post op and was told to stay on my crutches for 6 weeks , where as with my other acl op (other knee) i was off crutches in 1 week

  • hi, i play soccer in england at a good level, recently ruptured my ACL had surgery 4 weeks ago, off the crutches after 2 weeks walking now with a slight limp. my only worry is im struggling to get my knee bend more than 100 degrees is this normal? really worried i wont play at same level again as was due to go states in 6months for a scolarship! i do most of these exercises in my therapy but my therapist is sayin i need to bend 130 degrees but 8 weeks, kinda worrying.

  • come check out my page for crazy progress after surgery

  • guys dont believe in any sort of film or web site but just watch and see for references, since every one is different from each other and just do what you surgon and therapist say..

  • Just for anyone interested. I just had a acl knee reco and ive just discovered that a large part of my skin is numb. This will last for life!!

  • @djbdodgy some, not all...small price to pay right?

  • nice man. I tore my right acl last year and then came back this year and tore the left acl and meniscus disc. knee injuries are rough man,

  • @CptShaMoke dude you scaring me, i tore my right one and am so desperate to get back to the field...

  • im in month 9. i wasn't able to rehab it like i wanted to for like a few mnths due to schoola nd work. i still got my first step and burst. but stamina omg, shit weak as hell. takes a sec to warm up but once i do, it's ok. im thinkin bout playin but i dont know.still scared as shit now.

  • having my left acl done here in canada june 23 any tips please i have the best surgeon in this part of the country when it comes to acl thanks

  • if you have a good surgeon performing the surgery, you shouldn't worry about the repair...i think the trick is to start rehabbing as soon as you can! I'd say the most important thing is to get the swelling down quickly! and just rehab a lot! if you need any more specific help, let me know, I'll try to help...my videos are following my rehab schedule and i was ready to go in about 4 1/2 months

  • be ready for some fuckin pain man.

  • where u do ur surgery?

  • saint john nb canada

  • @deegirlshopping who was your surgeon? i live in canada and i'm having mine done in about 4months? my surgeon is the toronto raptors surgeon?......busy prehabing till then!,,,,lots of mountain biking!

  • @filmedwithiphone4 the doctor was a female dr.fletcher one of the best here on the east coast i was told 8 weeks on crutches turned out to be less than two weeks

  • and can't play any sports and damn how much i miss my sports ,hlaf of my highschool life was fucked because i could even go play sports with my friends and it's effected my on a mental level in ways you would even know so ya i hope i can't play sports next summer like i used to or i'll be fucking pissed life sucks when your hurt - i havn't even worked in 2 1/2 years p.s. life sucks

  • hang in there man, it's gonna get better. stay focused on the positive.

  • dude it's my third month and i can walk normal but doesn't feel confortable and the front part of my knee still feels messed if you can't play sports and it's been that long i think i would kill my self cuz sports are my life and i've been injured for 2 and half years ago reinjured my knee 4 times befor i got my surgery and i was 17 when i first injuerd my knee and now i'm 19

  • wow, I had to do some of these exercises too but not after 4-8 weeks!! I was on crutches for 7 weeks and couldn't even walk really good until week 8 or 9. Shit I wish I could have done this after 4-8 weeks. It's now one year and almost 3 months after surgery, but my knee isn't very good still, guess it will never be again =(

I hope all you others who had to experience this shit have a quick and especially a long lasting recovery!

  • This rehab schedule is designed for athletes...if you want to be back in full strength, the first weeks are crucial...I was off the crutches in 5 days, got full leg extension in 2 weeks. I was jogging 2 months into it, and was actually ready to play basketball after 4 1/2 months! Truth is that I was rehabbing for 2-3 hours a day, doing exactly those exercises that I later filmed...it worked for me, I don't see why it wouldn't for anyone else...it's just a lot of hard work1

  • DAMNNN 7 weeks? I had acl reconstruction and trimming of meniscus and was off the crutches in 2 days walking slow...its now 3 weeks and i walk almost normal...going to be running in a few weeks

  • I will be seriously surprised if you get to run anytime before 2 months after your surgery...ACL is pretty violent surgery and it requires a lot of rehabbing before you can even think about running, jogging or whatever! But in any case, good luck with it, hope you get well soon!

  • now a 7 weeks and am jogging normally and walking perfect...going to start sprinting in a week or 2

  • @mutabori Sorry to hear that. I am at 7 days and off crutches. I am slow moving but Hopefully it will progress better

  • you don't want to push your knee too soon in the 1st 6-8 weeks.

depending how they took the graft, your hamstring tendons will not re-fill with blood until after this initial period, and therefore will not be able to grow stronger until then.

the initial period is all about bringing control to the lower body movements. pushing it too hard too soon while the hamstring is weakened can cause it to tear.

all the best to those recovering from this surgery! hope you make a full recovery!!

  • im on my 25th day and i cant walk with out sticks, so i find much too early to practice this exercises......!!

  • that sucks man i was off in 2 days...just walk on it man get it moving....the only way your going to get better is to walk on it and strengthen it

  • i agree, you must try to put weight on your leg after a couple of days, using your crutches!!!!! i didnt do this, when i was up and using my crutches i was carrying my leg which in return puts alot of stress on the graft. i had a mental issue and thought my leg couldnt take the weight but it could, the graft is at its strongest from day 1 - 12 during the 1st 9 months. also do your rehab excersices (even if you are in pain) during the 1st 10 days, very important! good luck

  • Some of them excercises looked abit tough for the 4th and 5th weeks. The main thing that you concentrate on in the first 6 weeks is getting the leg straight and minimise swelling!

  • i'm 14 weeks out and i still have a big bump

  • thank you so much sir!

  • yeah, i had a question about those lumps, they're located right below were the small incisions were made. Im just starting my 4th week of rehab, my knee is still swollen and have those small lumps as well. Should i keep up with my therapy or give my knee more rest? I do physical therapy twice a day, i'd say up to around 80% of the exercises you use in the videos.

  • i noticed that u have a bump where the doc attached the graft..what is that from? my friend developed the same thing and it got to the size of a golf ball. i was just wondering if most ppl have that since i got mine done 8 weeks ago

  • I had a lump as well but it has long since disappeared. The single-leg squats are excellent, esp. using the swiss ball. The idea is to keep your shin vertical.

  • alot of excercise are based on the situation the person is in if someone is lookkng to get back into atletics then they are more apt to be doing excersises that will strengthen their quad and help regain the muscle mass they had lost.within the first week post surgery many do not have a semi strong quad. from my understanding having surgery april 29 2008 strengthening your hamstrang and quad is really important . your knee will be more stable if there is muscle to support the knee whenit needs

  • Yeah, good job! all closed kinetic chain (ckc) exercises at an early stage - def wouldnt recommend the last 2 exercises until min 6 wks post op . Just had acl recon this week and some of the videos on youtube have shown the most ridiculous exercises that would actually damage the knee at an early stage - this is one of the better clips!

  • i have this same problem, thanx for send this. I hope that my process of rehabilitation will be fast..
