Ahh, the calming sound effects of carelessly unpacking and tossing overshoulder broken bongos and toy drums as they hit the floor before bouncing downstairs on a busy escalator.
One of my favorite things about Don Buchla's instruments is that you can create many unique types of sounds. I feel no personal obligation to try to do everything the instrument can do , but rather , what i like to do. Thank you.
@toborexperiment Those arnt glitches.. they are some of the most brilliant Timbres you could get out of a synth. if you correlate the sounds with then being in music .. then bingo... These are awesome sounds Joe.. keep em coming
Well the term glitch here was used as a form of (contemporary) musical terminology rather than an electrical/physics one. It was not my intention to use this word in any sort of negative way.
I know the potential of the machine, I'm waiting my 200e, it will be here in about a month. yay!
@toborexperiment : It depends. I do a lot of sampling and resamping. I'd love to just BORROW someone's Buchla to sample for an afternoon that was wired up like this. It's so chaotic and the tails end so neatly, you could rip this thing into a gajillion usable samples for grooveboxes or drum machines. I use my Elektribe for generating most of my glitch sounds that I then sequence in Maschine, but it has a fairly specific tone for the most part. The Buchla has pure analog chaos.
Thanks :) Fyi , the sequencer stages in this vid are being selected by the top section of the 266. Random voltages selecting random stages randomly . makes me happy :)
Sorry, I have a bit of a fetish for electronics (and cables)! And today is electronics day, so I'm happy! (Maybe not so much about the exam we're supposed to have, but happy).
wow those old modulars (buchla, emu, arp 2500 etc.) sound so fresh and organic, like unreal sounds becoming a reality!! that's why I love them (but can't afford them).
