  • I Know your not a turkey!!!!!

  • yeng borsh key bor do borshkey do yeng gorskey borgesh ka do BORK! BORK! BORK

  • It's funny that Kaye's Swedish accent often lapses into something that sounds a bit more like Yiddish....

  • @HaggisMcCrablice Kaye was infamous for doing mock accents - never insulting mind you, but not perfectly accurate. His dance steps for international dances were also similar - close but never quite right. He was an ambassador for Unicef and other peace groups, and wanted those he entertained, particularly kids, comfortable around him. They loved that he'd try and not quite succeed, and made them smile.

(BTW, the Chef is also not quite right on the Swedish accent. ;) )

  • R.I.P Bob Keeshan.

  • im not offended, im actually honored

  • That turkey is awesome!

  • genius

  • What the matter with you?!?

I couldn't stop laughing. Anyone offended by this really needs to get over it, it's a freaking kid's show!

  • Gotta love Danny Kaye!

  • I'm Swedish and this is possibly the funniest thing I've ever seen.

  • @TielMaster And im part swedish, too :D

  • leuk erg leuk en grappig

  • Danny Kaye playin the Uncle.

  • who dresses like their uncle?

  • Comment removed

  • i wana try that recipe at home :)

  • Is that Bob Keeshan (host of CBS Storybreak, and of Captain Kangaroo as well) playing his uncle?

  • If the plaque says Bob Kaye (or whatever), then I suppose it is Danny Keeshan.

  • @Edward256 its danny kaye! cant mistake him for somebody else..

  • @Edward256 danny kaye

  • @SinnFein4ever It's Danny Kaye...

  • @SinnFein4ever No. That's Danny Kaye (White Christmas). Not the same guy.

  • @SinnFein4ever no, that's danny kaye

  • Djurgårds huuur di jung di diske du ! Jebor de hurdi ju hmm bork bork bork !!!

  • "nooo me no tuuuurkey, me sweeeeeedish!"

  • lol we need more kid shows like this todays kid shows suck !

  • holy cow! danny Kaye! that guys kick ass!

  • @oberlater Sadly not anymore - he died in the mid-late 1980s, but yes, when he was alive, he did kick butt in whatever he did. There are sadly so few actors now who could do it all - and he could. Not perfect mind you, but he was by far more entertaining than some of the celebrities of today.

  • Im a chef & when waitstaff piss me off I only talk to them in the swedish chef voice.

  • Who else could have been the Uncle to the Swedish Chef? Danny Kaye was and still is - perfect!

  • Two men (Henson, Kaye) who sought, through informed, informative laughter, to leave behind them a glowing trail of joyous breadcrumbs, instants of such inspired silliness that they embody Richard Hunt's eulogy for Jim, "he did not live for the moment. Instead he lived in the moment".

  • Ja, even de Swedish Chef's got family.

  • "i know you are not a turky"

  • hahahahahahaha xD

  • Man that uncle has a pretty deadly shot with the blunderbuss.

  • i just noticed when the swedish chef grabs the turkey he has real hands. cool.

  • @proseisart

That's what makes this Muppet unique. The head and voice are done by Jim Hansen and the hands belong to Frank Oz. This set up lends its self to some interesting ad-libs and unrehearsed moments when the two of them are trying to out-whit the other.

  • @Kovabomb wow. thats interesting, im a big muppets fan!!!!!!!!!

  • Did DANNY KAYE call the Swedish Chef TOM?-Or was that intended for the turkey?

  • @OLDSCHOOLHHSEX Tom is the Swedish Chef's nickname in the family I guess

  • I saw the series first run and I'd forgotten this! I'll remember it and smile next Thanksgiving!

  • Jag är en svensk!! How can them say so X'D I am swedish

  • I never saw anything with danny kaye... I dont think but thats hilarious

  • I think the chef has ADHD

  • But we call him pal. :3

  • Who knew the mentally challenged chef had an uncle?

    Bork Bork

  • Now if only real cooking was that easy... :P

  • Boy I easily imagined Peter Sellers ! LOLLLLLLLLLLL

  • It's Danny-Fucking-Kaye!

  • @Rakored6978

Not a whole lot of people know this, but Danny Kaye was an amazing cook. More than one person said that the best restaurant in Los Angeles was his house.

  • is that Danny Kaye?!!

  • Men din stackars, deppiga, Svensson... Ingen humör alls om sitt eget språk. :(

  • @Edward256 du menar humor? :D

  • The Swedish Chef is the only cook that can make dishes by shooting at raw ingredients =D

  • What about his uncle?

  • @Woldorx I shot a turkey once. Didn't work the same way...

  • They would never get away with making these skits these days. PETA would chain themselves to the studio.

  • Brok Bork Bork!

  • WTF - The Swedish chef's uncle is German!? He says UND .. and ODER - Oh well "Get the Tøøørkey" makes up for it ^^

  • @nbe05 yeah, I think the uncle deff sounds more german than swedish..lol!

  • poor turkey :'D

  • the 'blunderputz' ... ROFL

  • First of we have to pluck all the feathers then we have to get out all the gizzards

then after we open himup and stuff him with stuffing. or something like that....Poor Turkey its hearing all this knowing of its fate lol. Then they shoot him!!!! BOOM!!!!!

  • But we call him Tom.

  • Yugaslavian Chicken Nuggets out of turkey. lol

  • The Sweedish Chef reminds me of Julia Child. Who is also old and misunderstood and very foreign. She was also on T.V. about the time when they came up with the Sweedish Chef. But I think I heard they modeled him after some guy and not her.

  • Julia Child was born in Pasadena, CA USA

  • Too bad the Swedish chef never did anything with rotfish. My Swedish friend told me about it.... Seems there are laws about where you can actually open the can.

  • Yeah - you need to open it underwater because the stench is so terrible. We don't have that (surströmming) in Finland at all, but I sure would like to know what the dish smells like. XD

Anyway, Danny Kaye was one of my favorite actors. All his movies were (and still are) really funny. XD

  • (surströmming) smells horrible :)

  • Worse than a fried clutch in a car, rotten eggs, boiled cauliflower and rancid milk put together?

  • Definitely worse than all of those. Once you get over that, it actually tastes quite nice.

  • So that's what Mario does on the weekends! Who knew!

    Hahaha.

  • Hearing his name spoken is like seeing Darth Vader's face :/

  • This is probably one of the few times since Season 1 Chef has succeeded in making a meal, right? All the other times he's tried to cook animals while they're still alive, the animals get the better of him.

  • "No no, me not Türkie, me Svedish!" :D

  • 1:30

    thats me in school xD

  • The Turkey sure didn't look Yugoslavian.

  • That's the same accent he used on the Dentist episode of the Cosby Show. LUV it! xP

  • bude ouc ure du före dou gor a ne ogd ornd dnure burt.

  • anyone that finds this offensive, get over it, it's just comedy, we all know Scandinavian don't really talk like that

  • They use fewer words? :)

  • Exactly, it's just a parody on Scandinavians in general. It's making fun of the fact that some people thought Scandinavians had this weird accent and words, but in reality, they have normal ways of talking in their own view and the general view. I have heard an interview with a man from Finland who had a bit of an accent but was easy to understand. This is all just classic comedy at its best, so laugh a little and grow up.

  • Wow, people is getting offensive when they watch this? LOL!? I'm swedish and it's kinda embarassing if they find it offensive.. :/ It's offensive when people, like cuffzter said, mix us up with Sweden with Switzerland.

  • Exactly, this is just good funny old school comedy from the muppets.

  • Im swedish and i find the swedish chef hilarious and not the least offensive. Ill be hard pressed to find any swede who take any serious offense at all at the swedish chef.

We get far more offended when people confuse us with Switzerland. So we can feel the pain with any austrian who gets mixed up with australian..

  • @oldeskul

I know, it's just that sometimes there are morons who think it's pure facts.

I'm from Sweden and I know an American exchange student who really thought there were polar bears walking the streets of Stockholm.

  • @oldeskul Actually we do. Börk börk börk! ;-)

  • @oldeskul I'm Scandinavian and I do not see offensive this this at all it's sweet funny

  • rotflmao..........they threw away all the dang utensils! too fricken classic man!

  • Ha ha... Danny said, "We will shoot the blunder-putz" - yiddish in-(and out)-joke.

    "Putz" is yiddish for penis...

    XD

  • Wow, that's borderline humiliating.

It's either that, or an immense honor.

    Either way, bork bork bork.

  • lol, they look irish, and sound german.

  • That's Danny Kaye? Awesome.

  • If memory serves...

Danny Kaye was described by some cookery writers of his time as a very advanced cook of Chinese food.

Perhaps the idea of stuffing the turkey with Chinese ingredients was a soft in-joke...

  • I think you're absolutely right, afn33282.

  • The Uncle sounds more Jewish than swedish

  • Or German?

  • Jiberish?

  • Um, I agree with the "no hate" bit, but....

in English-speaking Jewish culture (U.S., ?U.K.?), at least, there is a very distinct inflection, sentence-structure modifications, and slang.

You know? "Oy, vey.," "Ay gevalt," and so on... I assume these expressions are from Yiddish, as is the rest.

So....I gave you the thumbs-down. But the rest I agree on.

  • hmmm...

I wonder if this is how i look like when i'm working :S

    I'm a chef and i'm from sweden

  • You are automatically awesome and can do no wrong in the kitchen :D

  • tzaike out from him thze gizetz. lol

  • His uncle sounds more german than swedish...

But the chef is so hilarious and sounds like a swede that is trying to speak english.

  • Heh, you can hear that he's english.

Swedes are pretty good at english, compared to, like, France. =P

  • The turkey was so funny!

  • i frikin love the swedish chef!!

  • not yugoslavian! lmao!

  • I meant Youtube's audio preview. And that wasn't intended to be posted.

    The Swedish chef is great.

  • My throat is not well. The only way for me to communicate using voice chat is to utilize Google's audio preview.

  • I love it when he laughs.. i've watched this video about 5 times now.

  • hahah so funny

  • Between Tom and Skwisgaar, who has the worse Swedish accent? I vote Tom.

  • I choose Skwisgaar because he says the dutch are scum.

  • Yeah, but when he says that, he means the Danes.

  • The uncle sounds more like a German to me

  • or like a indian english

  • Mjørk or børf, it's all Greek to me.

  • Wow, the Swedish chef's uncle really knows how to use the bomma-shootin' =]

  • du har rätt det ska nog låta som "ja, vi brukar säga så"

  • Bork, bork, bork, bork, bork :)

  • the poor turkey lol it looks mortified

  • The Swedish chef's name is Tom?

  • classic, watching muppet show is one of the highlights of my childhood memories, i saw most of them first run.

  • i dont c the relation

  • they speak the same they are wearing the same clothes XD

  • When Kaye has said his name, it sounds like the Swedish chef says something like "Jamen du, det är ju så" - correct Swedish! ;)
