  • There was quite a bit of low end torque on that but the power at the top rpms was even better! Is that turbo or naturally aspirated? Also do you know the rpms of peak torque, horsepower and rev limit?

  • why is it called the 640?

  • @campbellharley Hi there ! It's 640 as the bhp is 640 :o) or 660 bhp per tonne. Thanks for watching !

  • 0-60 in what??? wow

  • It wandered across the road a little there - same thing happened with my old Brava but not cause of power - cause the steering linkage was about to go :-O

  • I had a ride in my friends' dad's one today. He was just breaking in the engine. He gave it a bit of power and I was forced back into my seat quite heavily. It stops quickly too, and hugs the road like glue. The ride is a little bumpy though. It was funny seeing how quickly we would catch up with the traffic in front!

  • @TimpBizkit Rock and Roll ! The acceleration really is something else isn't it ? Cheers !

  • @peppermann I haven't seen the full power of it yet. It's funny, my normal car would have only just hit 30 in the same time! (putting it in 2nd gear at 20 and then stamping on the gas)

  • @TimpBizkit You've gotta get it down a 1/4 mile strip, awesome fun and you can give it the full beans :o) Remember to post a video when you do !! Cheers :o)

  • @TimpBizkit What the Hell!!! This exact same story just happened to me today!!! Friends dad, today, little power, thrown back, and bumpy ride and just caught up to traffic like nothing haha!

  • So how much is the total cost of the completed car? I've been curious about that for a while. I'd love to build one.

  • @Curveball Hi there. Mine was £ 55,000 all in. A lot of cash but a lot of fun !!! Thanks for watching !

  • @peppermann

55k USD I could handle....but 55k pounds is like what, 85k USD? That is painful. And I would have to add another 50k to it because I do not have the know how to build one myself. It would be my luck I would build it, turn the key, and will have managed to make a very cool looking bomb. haha

Thanks for the reply, brother! And be safe.

  • this car shows just what happens with american muscle and british brains and maby a touch of german tuning

  • is that an v8 ?

  • @24Slexani Hi ! Yes, 7 litre V8. american muscle...

    Thanks for wayching !

  • @peppermann american muscle that can actually steer ha ha

  • yawn

  • These cars are insane, not a lot of people know what they can do, but they really do put so many hideously priced cars to shame. yes, to shame.

  • @Jamerio3D He he. Yes, they do :o) Thanks for watching !

  • fantastic,enough said lol

  • @stoogeecfc Hey, glad u liked the video ! :o)

  • Man this car is so good im 14 years old and im thinking how the f... im i going to get one. and when you get the kit make a vid how do you asemble one, the test run and all that things

  • Hey there ! Firstly a big hi from the UK ! My Slovenian isn't that good, but I will try ! Zivijo ! Ce se v Veliki Britaniji vcasih nato Preprican sem, da lahko preskrbim nekdo tukaj k take ti out v Ultima. In ne predaj se na sanjah stavbene ene, ti imej obilje od casa ! Vas zelo nabolljse. Tony.

  • tvoja slovenscina je dobra. thanks for the good wishes!

  • The sad thing is that is close to impossible to get the car street legal in Slovenia. I own the only TVR Tuscan in Slovenia and I had to fight for 4 weeks the get it approved for road use. I was at Ultima because I was looking into getting one but have given up on it when I talked with gov about getting the car street legal. Wish we had the same law like in UK.

  • Man, sorry to hear you had to sell this thing due to your divorce, it is a thing of beauty. Some people say they are ugly, but they don't realize it isn't designed to be eye candy, but to cut down on drag and maximize aerodynamic performance - something which makes it all the more beautiful for those of us that love performance vehicles.

Here's to hoping that you are able to get another one some day.

  • Hey there ! Many thanks for the kind words :o) I hope another kit will be on the way soon.

The GTR always looks better in the flesh than on photos and videos. But you are right about function over form. It's a missile. But great at Tescos too and draws a nice crowd of people.

It's not quite the same in my Vauxhall Vectra. My 1/4 mile times are down 8 seconds. But it's still fun and at least I've been there with the GTR, which is a priveldge in itself.

    Ciao !

    Tony

  • @peppermann hey dude but... to get this car... one has to be too lucky or sell drugs... but you... how much was it and how the hell did you buy it :S ?

  • look were 60 is on the speedo!!!!!!!!!!!! hehe

  • Thanks for watching folks ! Sorry to say that X11GTR has been with it's new owner since my divorce last year (bummer) be did record some great times in it. Been in Dax's, Caterhams, TVRs, you name it, but nothing on the road will touch an Ultima, straight line, point to point etc.

  • is the 60 including the wheel spin? lol

  • that wasnt a full power accelegration

he show a little bit of the gtr power :D

  • The ULTIMATE track day weapon. If i had the money i would have one

  • Not the ultimate track day weapon...........but close!

  • what would your track day weapon be?

  • watch?v=H1uSzccAW6k

Dax Rush with a Hayabusa lump and a turbo from a 1980's Benetton F1 car. The video is merely a shakedown run with about 350bhp (see the fury from about 2m20s onwards)........it's now at 500bhp, and 500kg!!

I was photographing it the other week and I have to say, it's a hell of a piece of engineering. It's also totally road legal!

I do adore the Ultima though, much prettier in the flesh than all these videos show, and still amazingly quick.

  • Very true PC - it's a pretty car. Gorgeous thing

  • They are damn cheap

  • £40k aint cheap for me tho

  • £40k? Check the sheet! It's £15k for the body etc. Then say 10 grand for the engine and gearbox.

  • Except it's a car not a bike.

  • Except that not everyone wants a bike and for a car, the acceleration is quite impressive.

Not that there is anything wrong with bikes, they just aren't for everyone.

  • Thank you fLIKKAN. Where do they find these people?!!

  • @masserby probably only a hayabusa will do that

  • What motor do you have it in

  • It's got a 640HP 377ci small block Chevy.

  • I'd love this car , perfect track car

no more hp then this, too much for the track any more then this

  • It's strange to say but the 640 bhp is very tractable. It doesn't bite you. The grip is great , especially when the tyres are worn in a little. Thanks for watching ! Tony

  • hence why I said no more hp then this :)

  • That is brilliant! Forget they Veyron... an Ultima GTR would kill it.

  • Well there wouldn't be much in it - and the Veyron is 20 times the price .. :o) Cheers for watching !

  • so so so ugly

  • satan

  • OMG

  • hey... U guys are drivin' on the wrong side of the road :DDD

  • Nah, that's just the road being bent out of shape as the Ultima puts its power down :-P

Anyway, all the best cars drive on the left :-P

  • About sixteen years ago on top gear they had the first version, no top or windscreen, it had half the horsepower, it was a fast car but this must be dynomite.

  • Hey, I remember that one ! Tiff ran around in a blue one. Someone was at the Factory open day in it this year - it still looks good! But yes, the 640 is something else. Ran 160 to 180mph in 2 seconds on a test earlier this year. Total buzz ! Cheers !

  • how much does he cost?

  • Mine was £ 52k + VAT. A lot of cash but a lot of performance :o)

  • omg that car is a beast

  • :o) :o)

  • I know the ultima was race inspired, but does it have Traction Control?

  • Hi there ! Nope, no traction control. And on mine, no LSD either. It doesn't really need it, the world record times from the Factory use a car without traction control or an LSD too. But I know someone who has fitted traction control - when he has it set right it will be something else !!!

    Thanks for watching !

  • hey i have a question. do the gtrs have a reverse gear on them?

  • Hi there.

Yes, they have a fully working reverse. The gears are just like any other car (it's just got 500 bhp more than most cars !). :o)

  • thats good, i saw a video of someone wheeling one out of a garage,by the way very nice car and thanks.

  • hey,

Is it very easy to drive?

Did you build your or did you buy it already made?

if you know, how much is it already made? sorry for all the questions lol

thanks. Sweet vid by the way man

  • Hi !

Yes, it drives like any modern car. Steering is heavy at low speed but clutch isn't too heavy and the gear change is easy. Throttle is progressive, so at one tenth it's like driving a low powered car. Only when you press the throttle more do you get more power ! Past half way, all four of the inlets on the carbs open (rather than two) and that's when all hell lets loose! But anyone can drive an Ultima, they don't bite.

Built myself for £ 55k. £ 80 or so from Factory.

    Tony.

  • hey thanks, i want one so much lol

  • does your speedo go up to 240mph? iv seen most of them as 200mph.

  • Hi there. Yes, it's a 240 speedo. More for show than actual use, but with the right gearbox and a long runway I should hit 220 - 230 with the power I have.

    Tony :o)

  • howdy, hope you don't mind if i ask but approx how much do you have into your car's build? i'm toying with the idea of starting an ultima gtr build. how long did it take you to get it to its current point from the start of your build?

  • Nice camera position, this is one of the few kinds of videos where you can actually tell just how fast the vehicle accelerates. What kind of engine/HP do you have in your Ultima?

  • Ah nevermind. I saw the V8 in your other video.

  • Thanks for the comments Pandacycle. Yes, engine is a 7 litre V8 with 642 bhp. It's a handful on wet / icy roads but only bites when you press the accelerator too far ! It's pretty docile really and very easy to drive.

  • Interesting and original idea, examples of what the car is capable of in actual road conditions,

    cheers.
