What does Mohammed and/or Allah have to say in regards on how to treat people?

Islam is a practical religion. Sincere intention inevitably leads to action. Hence we say, Muslims have to do "works", but Allah actually judges the intention, and that leads to salvation. One has to want to be saved.

This practicality extends to dealing with others. Absolute passivisim is not practical and not in our nature. If we believe something we stand up for it. "Reasonable" self defence is permitted; transgression is forbidden. Forgiveness and reconciliation is preferred in all cases.

Islam haters often quote Quranic verses like surah 2 verse 190 (on it's own) to malign Islam. I reccommend you read from at least a few verses before that up to at least verse 195 to get the full context.

Likewise, practicing Muslims dont even shake hands between the sexes. Can Christian hug your neighbor and kiss the bride congregations make the same claim?

Hmmm interesting.

I agree, it is not our nature for us to be completely non-violent, which is why I view such a radical idea to be other-worldly. We have seen MLK & Ghandi practice non-violence and social disobedience and it disarmed their oppressors in the long run.

Quoting Maimonides is a bit hypocritical on the side of "rabbi" boteach. He should know what Rambam instructed in regards to our 'cousins' in his responsa. Boteach certainly does not represent the Jewish people.
