  • Its amazing how many trucks and engines they send out to a fire in the USA, i live in holland and when they have a structure fire they send 2 engines and one ladder then depending on the fire they will send a officer and a breath protection truck only when its a big fire some more is send on the scene

  • @marcelrotgans The reason for the amount of trucks is the need for firemen. There is a big difference between the fire trucks here and in Europe as a whole. In the US we typically use Engines and Ladder trucks that seat a driver and 3 firemen, whereas in Europe the typical engine carries a driver and 8 firemen. Hope that explains it.

  • @DnitschEMT okay i see i live in Holland we have only 6 fireman on a engine including the driver on a ladder we have 2 fireman.

But i have an other question, do the engines have build in water tanks or do they have to hook up on a hydrant first?

Her in holland the have a build in watertank

Any way thanks for your answer

  • @marcelrotgans We have built in tanks on our engines, our engine has 1500 gallons or 5500 liters, but we try to hook to hydrants as fast as possible. I am on a department in the country, and sometimes we do not have hydrants but use 3 or 4 tanker trucks that hold 3000 gallons or 11000 liters. These tankers drive between the fire and the nearest hydrant or river to keep water coming.

  • Nice video! Loved the amount of different angles and shots you got! If you ever get the chance would you be able to get a good shot of the FDNY water cans (the silver 2.5gal fire extinguishers)? I'm interested in seeing how NYs boys attach the carry strap to them. Take care!

  • @JNHstudios There are a number of different ways you can attach a strap to a "can". A company called Fire Hooks Unlimited makes them in two different styles to fit most. These don't cost much but work pretty well. There is a video on youtube called "Fire Attack - using the can". It shows a homebrew method that works well and also shows a good demo of what a can can do. Check it out and if you don't find it by searching for the title, do a search for FFDGP, he is the one who uploaded the vid.

  • @Himdarling44 Thank you so much for that much needed info! I checked out both of your suggestions and now I have a basis to work from. God bless!

  • @JNHstudios Anytime, and if you have anymore questions let me know. I spend way too much of my time surfing the web and looking for new ways of doing things. Stay safe out there.

  • Must be nice to have so many people there to help rack hose. Were lucky to have 4 guys.

  • Someone tell 147's LCC next time to extend his aerial ladder at least 5' over the roof. And, why so close to the edge of the building? Not monday morning quarterbacking, but come on bro. Stay low, and let it blow, start water, and lets go.

  • @gators288 He is an EMS chief, it looks like.

  • WTF is that old fat ass guy in tan gear doing walking around????

  • WTF is the ems guy wearing bunker gear for and waliking around there i know fdny hates ems there because their called fdny but are not apart of fdny

  • I suppose the idiot in the blue Crown Vic thought he was the Incident Commander.

Who let's these ambulance chasers into the block??

  • @KennyRimshot He's a Hatzolah Voluntter ambulance guy. They can respond to anything at almos tany time when called upon from their POV.

  • WHAT DID THE IDIOT IN THE BLUE CROWN vIC THINK HE WAS - THE INCIDIENT COMMANDER?? He shouldn't have been allowen into the block.

  • war wus this in cens or bons

  • Just throw your helmit through the window.... Pull a Tommy Gavin :)

  • lol or just throw the kid into the basket rofl.

  • at a job...its a common practice to "make a window a door". We open windows for small, insignificant fires. Ligit jobs...we take windows, the whole f'in window! Its our lives in there....anyone whothinks otherwise needs a lesson in thebasics of firefighting!

  • I'm not sure why you all are thumbs downing al3pplm1, because he's right, if you break a window it's to ventilate and provide alternate routes of egress for interior crews, Mind you that's only IF you do. Try before you pry is a forcible entry concept meant for doors and roll up gates and such.

  • "Try before you pry" or "try to open window before smashing them out" lol..but otherwise, great job!

  • wrong smart a. either you're a rookie fresh out of fire school reciting your newly learned phrases or u just don't know what the heck you're talking about. when breaking a window u take the whole thing, not only for ventilation but for egress. u break it as if a fireman may need to escape from it. u don't want to try and squeeze out an opened window with your gear and pack on, u need all the room you can get. any dept worth its salt should have an SOP in place for this.

  • lol........ open windows thanks for your approval

  • I believe you are talking what we reference HI RISE Pack!!

  • they break the windows to vent the smoke out

  • a quien se le quemaron los frijoles?

  • why do they broke windows ?

  • why not use a appt pack?

  • What the hell is an appt pack

  • its normally 150 feet of 1 3/4 inch of hose in a pack that can is used in apartment buildings such as in this video where you connect the line to a pipestand and use that instead of going up with hundreds of feet of line.

  • FDNY uses the 2 1/2 they could of went up the fire escape which would mean the line would strech alot easier and they would not be going up stairs it also could be a non staind pipe building

  • funny how the guy has a stop sign in the door of the rig.

  • You'd be suprised how many guys have gotten hit and/or killed by the number of cars the drive past and hit them.

Not just FDNY, but departments all over.

  • thats because the public is ignorant to stop signs, yields and oh yeah fire apparatus

  • yeah all of my companies rigs have them

  • Comment removed

  • Sweet ops !!!

  • I was just trying to stop the thing. They keep going if you don't end them quickly.

  • must have been a can job

  • yeah where would i be able to get that card

  • Get yourself a "fire line card" and come ride with me. I will take you to jobs that will rock your world!!!!

  • where does one acquire a "fire line card", and where can i get hold of you to come ride.

  • Its a good thing he hasnt done anything.... He's there for the firefighters. They go down, he stands up. Maybe hes annoying, maybe he seems like hes in the way but hes also the one the IC is going to be looking for when when of his guys is hurt.

  • Modern Helmets are sheep shaggers and Tossers

  • Ems Officer or safety Batt.? Yes he was annoying.

  • sorry make that 157 truck

  • That damn FDNY EMS super. hasent done a single thing this entire video but walk around and get in the way...

  • good job on this video

  • They never "stated" that Afghanistan was behind 9/11, but simple a terrorist organisation LOCATED in Afghanistan. (Osama Bin Laden moved to Afghanistan from his home country of Saudi Arabia). They never blamed Iraq at all... in fact they went into Iraq because Saddam had suddenly stopped weapons inspectors going into his country, causing great suspicion he had WMD, which he didn't, but it was he was the one to stop weapon inspectors. And Iran has NEVER been blamed. When are you going to wise up?

  • Then how do you explain the fact that bush constantly claimed Saddam and bin laden were working together?? And not too long ago, he was trying o create an excuse to go after Iran...... Bush himself has stated that he is a "war president".

  • You know why Osama Bin Laden is mad at us? When Iraq invaded Kuwait, Kuwait asked Saudi Arabia for help. Well then Saudi Arabia asked for help. They got two offers one from Osama Bin Laden and one from the United States Military. Who do you think they chose?

  • why do morons like you start political debates on youtube? especially on vids containing anything to do with NEw York

  • Where in brooklyn is this

  • not sure exactly but 147 truck is out of flatbush if memory serves me

  • the area looks like a orthodox jewish neighborhood

  • 147 Is flatbush Courtelyou road and East 13 or 14. shares the house with E 281. It was the big house for a few years in the early 90s if I recall correctly

The job looks to be in the Borough Park section of Brooklyn. 13, 14, 15 Avenue the 40s to the 60s?

  • for the LA brother at the bottom, the FDNY in tan is actually EMS. They wear tan gear and modern helmets, FIRE wears black and traditionals
