  • but i dont want to buy music :(

  • If you don't want to get a virus on a pc, do 3 things:

    1. Don't click on anything on the internet that looks to good to be true. Example: If your on facebook, don't click on advertisements, don't do this anywhere on any website ever.

2.When installing programs, pay attention to what is being installed. Example: If you're installing free anti-virus, you don't need a yahoo or bing toolbar.

    3. Use something other than Internet explorer. Chrome, Firefox, hell even Safari is better.

  • @chandlerbird617 The only thing is that on PC, you don't even have to click on anything to get a virus. I used to have a PC and I would do monthly virus scans, I got a few viruses per month. If you use PC I recommend getting two anti virus programs and scanning often. Cnet has some good free antivirus for PC.

  • It is wice to switch to Mac, because compared to Windows, there's no virus for Mac.

Believe me, I have been using Mac in 4 year now, and I have never seen a virus on my Mac.

  • ur geek

  • It kills me when I hear Laymen Computers say they're going switch to Mac because of Viruses?

Especially since Most of them will say they don't know anything About an Apple OS - but want to switch anyway....??

I work IT and have heard this plenty of times, and am asked about this...I tell them that Apple OS , if you do get a Virus, you're screwed, since there is Less antivirus Security for Apple, then most other OS's.

  • @xtraflo If you use Windows, you're already screwed :)

Mac is a secure system, and dont even need a antivirus - like a electrical car don't need gasoline :)

I now have a Mac running for 4 years, and there is none virus, mailware or worm on it. The same is with my Linux Server.

I always suggest my customer to not connect their financial computer to internet at all, if it's running Windows.

  • @gaasedal I absolutely disagree that ur screwed imediately by using windows. Ive had both Vista and Win7 since release date, and have yet to have a Virus or Trojan, etc. Mostly due to Internet explorer 8 - a Huge improvement over IE6. And just like "Prillo" here is saying, No OS is risk free. For the price of Apple Products and Software, I'm much more satisfied by Creating a Disk image of my HDD - and Re-Image my System if I am ever effected by a Malware issue.

  • @xtraflo If we compare Windows against Mac OS, we can say without doubt that Mac OS users is just free for all the trouble that is bothering Windows users.

A Mac is designed to work with you, not against you :)

Windows is designed to earn money as quick as possible - to Microsoft.

  • @gaasedal From all these comments you've convinced me that...

Steve jobs pays you to suck his cock. Not only do you suck it, you cradle the balls, stroke the shaft, and plug his asshole with your fist.

  • @rzcmch How old are you?

  • it is no question about what system is more virus free.

Windows is full of virus after short time, Mac is not, and that is a big difference:)

  • @gaasedal Lol you be surprise in the last 2 weeks at bestbuy I seen like 10 macs coming in for malware removal of a fake AV. Given it not a virus but it was malware. To say mac don'[t get infected is just retarded.

  • @chrisrod01 LOL - what I wrote before, is true :)

I was working as an IT consultant, and earned a lot money on Windows (thanks to a lot of viruses, mailware, whorms), and I earned nothing on Mac (because of lack of viruses, whorms and mailware).

When you are finish to install Windows, you have already a lot of viruses, mailware and whorms on it.

On my Mac, there's no virus, no whorms and no mallware now for 4 years - you can't say that on any Windows:)

  • @chrisrod01

    Malware is not virus...

  • @olivenoire1 Objective C isn't just for Mac dude...

  • Ihave the latest pc with latest window 7 software

7 VIRUSES with the most expensive security Mc afee

Mac which is 2 years old

    0 VIRUSES

macs are better virus wise and better in genearal

    Like if you agree!

  • wow, jesus.

shut the fuck up or learn something.

you cannot give advice if you do not know shit about the thing you are talking about. You will not see me giving advice on gay sex, but you will hear me giving tips on how to get fucking laid.

use my example, faggot. or kill yourself. you could just kill yourself.

  • why would i buy things

  • or just install antivirus and keep your porn.

  • I hate porn -.-

  • that could have all been several points basically he's just saying don't use p2p which yes that will help but even more important is turn on UAC (User Account Control and enable your firewall.. those two can drastically cut down on problems alone with spyware and viruses helping to block alot of stuff

  • Australia FTW!

  • so does that meen that if mac os overtakes windows as the most used operating system that it will have more viruses developed for it than windows

  • i got a brand new pc like 5 years back first time on i got 256 viruses right when i turned it on -_-

  • 0:36 ghhhmmm tthh weeeeuuullll..

  • haha funniest chunk of advice i've heard

  • Is the new ClamXav 2.0 beta any good? becuase it seems that its the only one that will work for Os X Snow lepeard

  • Aww no porn?

  • i remember getting a virus on my XP .. 2005 i think it was.

  • You could rent CDs from a local library and rip them to your computer. 3:00

  • Linux is the king for porn :)))) . All soo you will never get a virus if you run your pc without a hard-drive. Linux slax can do that an probly all most all other version of a live cd or live dvd.

  • antivirus nuff said

  • @master2dope

There are some deadly viruses that attack the antivirus software too, so it wont open.

  • i've had a mac for over 8 years and i've never had a virus. my cousin said he can put a virus on my iMac 10.4.6. but he looked it up and there's no viruses for them. also, my cousin has windows 7 home premium and he's had 3 viruses on his computer in less that a year. i laugh at him cause he had to de-virus his comp

  • Hm, I was a skiddie back when I commented on this video XD.

Mac users can become zombies/bots. In fact, I know someone who has a Mac user as a zombie.

  • I use Antivirus, but I find it almost useless. To tell you the truth. Most of the time, nothing happens to my computer. And if it does happen, my antivirus does nothing. Reformat all over again.

  • Can't you "borrow" the CD instead of "buying"?

  • 6) Avoid the pirrilo website as the excessive flash and java will cause your browser to crash. Only watch his content on youtube or other site where there is tighter control on the embedded Java and flash...........

  • This wasn't really a video on Mac OS X viruses...more a video on how the Win folks can protect themselves from virus'.

  • "Apples are more healthy to eat than windows" :D Lmao

  • I've been a pc since the longest time.

    I've never got a virus.

    Its called an antivirus.

  • It's confident that there are found more viruses in a website about London than there is on porn sites..

    Don't remember/have source, sorry.

  • @ipodtouchhugger

consider, if you set an administrator password at setup, that wouldn't really work.

  • I'm pretty sure if someone made a worm for *nix systems that exploited a running daemon, that was run as root, I'm sure you would see a good wide spread *nix virus. For example, say a remote root buffer overflow in Xorg, you could code a worm, with a special shellcode, which would download and execute the worm binary on *nix. And since most *nix system have similiar commands, it would be quite successful in my eyes. Just a hunch though.

  • He is right but he did not address the email problem. Most Malware is spread by email. FWD FWD FWD Grandpa bought a rubber!!!

  • he told me to stop doin everything i like doin with my computer :*( hahahah

  • you can surf for porn on mac and feel safe, or at least 99% safe.

  • WTF no porn... are you crazy...

    /p

  • I'm sure now that Apple has a Bigger market share than Microsoft there will be more Mac viruses.

  • I hate that first part

  • FUCK YOU FAG!

  • How stupid you will never get infected from mp.3 only from mp3.exe or .vbs near mp3. And why not to use torrents I can have evrething for free and fast . Why not to manipulate evrething on my pc. I use viruses to play online games, ore create a key for my software. Why not search on porno sites like livejasmine. On my pc I can do evrething for free. I can wach HBO for free, of course I can't wach it on mac becouse it don't have IE. Can you play assassin creed II for free on your mac?

  • i use beemp3.com for downloading music

  • Being computer literate is the best virus protection you can have. I've had Windows installations run fine for ages with no protection, because I know that "songname.mp3.exe" probably isn't something I should be downloading. Same thing goes with free smilies and mouse cursors, etc. Now I run OS X, which is superior to Windows on several levels, but I won't get into that.

  • im sorry to correct u chris, but macs are made from the unix platform, thats why there are VERY FEW not ZERO viruses. there are about 40 million people on a mac and none of them can make a virus? weird eh? so it aint about number of people using p.c. but the stability of the platform they r built on!! :))

  • @sahaj376 i believe that its mainly that, but still the fact that Windows is larger

  • @hellfiredonkey im just saying its more secure, not necessarily worth using.

  • @hellfiredonkey if linux had more market share it would have more.

if you want real security by obscurity then get solaris or bsd

  • Recently (Actually about an hour ago) Reinstalled XP on a customers computer. He claimed "My anti-virus said I had 25 virus" I said "Oh, What Anti Virus are you using" "I am not sure, It just showed up one day" Turned out he had virus's pretending anti-virus (Which is common).

  • @hellfiredonkey A virus can theoretically still execute under normal (non-root) user privileges in Linux. Of course, it can't do too much damage this way, but can potentially delete/modify documents/pictures/music/etc. in user's home folder.

  • @MrMakeman

    yeah

    wha?

    PORN???

  • @MrMakeman LOL

  • @MrMakeman Why do you think the net was born? Porn, porn porn.

  • @MrMakeman do it on a ipod touch

  • @MrMakeman porn is for AWSOME people like me:D

  • @MrMakeman It certainly does! My friend told me to try not watching porn for a month, I was like "dude I can't go one fucking WEEK without porn".

  • @MrMakeman you know how they call girls that are addicted to sex nymphos.

well what do they call guys.

    normal

  • What about Kaspersky for Mac? Is that unnecessary or can particuarly the firewall be useful for mac users?

  • @thiklpet OS X has built-in firewall, and it's pretty configurable (access it via System Preferences).

In general, running ANY OS without a firewall is a bad idea. It's like leaving a door open when you leave the house.

  • I have a question, i've heard both sides of this argument, but no one has refuted the side that says: "OS 9 had TONS of viruses with a lot less market share than OS X. OS X, with much more market share then OS 9 has less viruses, if any." can anyone refute that argument? I just don't know what to think.

  • @Pralz912 thats true. it has nothing to do with market share. dont you think ANY hacker would love the reputation of being the first big os x virus hacker?

  • 'Bad guys' nowadays care mostly about stealing money and personal information. That's why they target Windows machines.

Additionally, many Windows users run under full admin privileges and old insecure software like IE6.

And, by the way, there were many zero day exploits in OS X software, which allowed hackers to execute an arbitrary code and overtake people's machines.

In summary, security is a very complicated issue, and no OS is truly secure from exploits, rootkits, etc.

  • best way to avoid viruses = NO INTERNET

or be like the us goverment and have a hole server rack pak each colum with a slim firewall and make about 5 of those :3

  • Your Mice I Cool And Clear. Which Is It?

  • MY GOD PEOPLE HOW STUPID ARE YOU? Do you know why you've gotten viruses on a pc? Because you go on shady sites that you shouldn't be on, and because you download things that you shouldn't because you're just stupid. Anyone with any intelligence is able to use windows and never come across a virus in their life.

  • i,m using a mac for 5 years and i never had a virus..

i used windows for a week and it crashed..

  • Would you like a cookie for that? The average Mac user can't remove a virus, I bet it didn't even crash on you. It must have froze and you thought it crashed. My high school go those new aluminum Crapintosh iMacs and half wouldn't power on correctly.

  • interesting......

    NOT!

  • @barlevi1 must have been a shit pc you had ?

crashing has nothing to do with with viruses

  • not always

  • Im new to mac and i hope im safe with no anti virus

  • Comment removed

  • @pr0gram1r

Can you double click the title bar in MAC applications to maximize windows? I always see people cllicking the colored circles.

  • @signupsigma

    Yeah you can.

  • @pr0gram1r

    good answer.

  • @pr0gram1r Stop watching porn...

  • @ScOrPiOnE905

lol you should've saw my other comment.

i made this comment when i was a script kiddie and had absolutely no knowledge and that my current opinion on this matter is that macs don't get 'viruses' is because when an application is executed, it requires authorization from the root administrator or a limited account and windows has the same exact feature except that people use windows other than macs and that's why macs don't usually get infected.

  • @pr0gram1r Ok sorry for being a jerk, its just that people think macs dont get viruses which is completely fake,as macs get more buyers, they will get more viruses...

  • @pr0gram1r thats still alot sorry to hear that

  • @pr0gram1r Well, to gravedig your comment, this is because Macs are so rare these days, that hackers get the most targets on Windows. There are very little Mac viruses because people don't want to get like 3 FB passwords while they can get thousands from a Windows hack/keylog.

  • @BradtheCrazy cant you read my other comment because i said the same thing

  • how about go after the ppl who make the damm viruses

  • ALWAYS had a Mac NEVER got a virus

  • log into your guest account

  • I did, nothing happened, 10.6.2

  • 10.6.2 had it fixed, you're lucky you're not one of the tons that had their important data deleted while the company that made your computer denied there was a problem. Fuck apple

  • as much as I like apple, that was pretty gay, and it took forever to fix

  • This has to be your worst theory ever. Almost nothing you said here was accurate, besides the fact Windows has the most systems out there. You normally make sense, but you are wayyyy off on this clip.

You should be able download anything you want on the internet without worrying about a virus. I DL anything i want on a mac or linux and never think twice. Windows gets more because of design, not because of size. YOU KNOW THAT!!!! why are you telling people its because windows sell more?

  • Windows is targeted way more than OS X. If you compare the amount of Windows viruses to OS X viruses, you'll see what I mean.

I partially agree with you though, I don't know about OS X, but Linux/Unix almost always has a superuser (root) and a regular account (and perhaps a guest account). If you wish to make modifications to system files, you'll have to identify yourself as root first.

Anyway, just set up a restricted Windows account.

Also, the best anti-spyware is COMMON SENSE.

  • @MikePostDrums Funny thing is, I've gotten so many viruses on my Windows 7 and the thing still runs great after getting rid of them. My OS X got a virus. Once. And not only could Apple not help me but say "restart the computer", but the system itself wouldn't boot up.

  • @MikePostDrums

Mac is build by same root system like Linux :)

  • @gaasedal Nowadays, you can't compare the two, though.

  • This is more of a how to buy things you get for free ad, than how to stop spyware.

Wonder how much RIAA paid him to advertise how "illegal" it is to share things?

Would you let them also tell you where you can drive that car you bought, & how many miles you can put on it each week?

Would you let them tell you you cannot plant corn you got from the store because thats creating "illegal" copies simply because it's free?

  • I'm not a user of it, but several of my family members are. There's always AVG FREE anti-virus. It works for all windows operating systems, maybe linux, not for mac.

Also, I'm a user of it. The Safari Web Browser! =D The Safari Web Browser, will tell you if you're going to a site containing viruses, malware, etc., and it's available for windows and os x. It's os x's main internet browser, so that's why it's so secure.

  • Firefox has this feature as well. It is a daily updated phishing filter that will warn you that the site your about to visit is infected.

There is a big "Get me out of here" button that it displays before the website opens, along with a button to ignore the warning if you really want.

It's nothing that Firefox doesn't have.

  • wow

  • Sorry Chris.

Piracy isn't a crime, and the music industry is so damn corrupt, can't really explain all of it here.

    Death to teh RIAA. Arg!

  • last spring a women was fined 80million dollars for downloading 8000 song from limewire its illegal......

  • mac os x is more vulnerable to viruses than windows

  • What exactly did you mean by that!

There are thousand of viruses for Windows and almost none for Mac (i don't know about any for Mac at all).

I have absolut no problems by virus or worms on my Mac (or Linux).

I can't say that about my Windows machine.

I don't need to install antivirus on my Mac computer - no need for it but on VMWare Fusion I need virus protection to get rid of virus/spyware on my Windows partition.

I need windows as I need OS-X, OS-X is my favorit operating system.

  • I don't use anti-virus on my Vista because I don't download crap from shady sources, don't download torrents and use my computer carefully.

Viruses aside, OSX kernel is easier to break than Windows.

  • I use XP on my PC because Vista is only mailware from Microsoft, exactly like Millenuium was.

I tried Windows 7, but many of my "must have" programs are not working on 7 at all.

So until MS have done some better, i'm using XP for my windows programs.

For the most I use my Mac, only because Mac is much much better in all matters and have no viruses and no problems.

  • I personally prefer XP. I only use Vista because its the only OS copy I have which is original.

However, I was not talking about which OS is better. It was just for the sake of argument, making my point that careful usage of my computer means viruses are not a problem to me.

Also, let me tell you I own a MacBook, and I install Vista on mine via Boot Camp. (I own the Mac for school). So if in any case my OS do get infected, its simple to format and re-do. Not much is lost for me.

  • I agree :)

My father bought a Acer with Vista preinstalled, and the computer was wery slow, so he wanted me to downgrade to XP.

It was very complicated because of missing drivers. I didn't get the wirelesses connection to work so at last I just installed Linux Ubuntu. Now he is wery happy, because the computer work much better now.

  • Oh, and when I said that OSX kernel is easier to break than Windows, what I meant to say that it is true that OSX kernel is inherently less secure. In hacker conferences OSX is the first to fall, although Windows goes next. Linux is quite reliable in this area.

  • Strange, both Mac and Linux are build on Unix and have almost same kernel :)

  • Yeah. Maybe hackers here could comment.

  • Yes, it would be interesting, because Windows in too easy to hack.

Maybe this hackers are payed by Microsoft - it would explain everything....

  • OS X Viruses:

It's not right when you say that people who use Windows get more virus because more people use windows.

I always get a lot of virus/spyware on my Windows XP system and use too much time to get rid of them with antivirus and so on.

I have now used Windows and MAC OS Leopard for over two years, and I have never seen a virus nor spyware on my MAC:)

  • You didn't listen to what Chris said. The overall percentage is with what ever is most popular because the virus/malware writers target those systems to a higher degree. Whether your system is safe or not depends on you. If you never surfed the web or downloaded stuff then you would never get a single piece of malware. Like Chris said - Porn, Torrents for serials/cracks, apps and movies are the easiest and best way to ensure you will get malware.

  • Yes, I have listened several times after what Chris was was saying, and he have a point there.

I can use my Mac for years without virus or spyware, but my Windows computer will not be free for virus or spyware one single week (or day), and I'm using my Mac and PC for same downloads, bittorrent and so on.

I even don't have antivirus on my Mac, there is no use for it.

  • you should also try Linux. ubuntu or linuxmint :) the BEST

  • I use only Linux as servers - They are running for years without freezing or rebooting :)

  • If you get a virus on your PC, it just means you're an idiot.

    =)

  • Ok, your opinion is that every PC users are idiots.....

  • i never said anything like that

  • Then you were obviously doing something wrong on XP. I've kept my XP computer virus-free for about a year now.

  • If you don't connect Internet, USB disk or CD to you computer you probably can use it virus free for one year or more.

Otherwise it's not possible - as everyone know :)

  • Actually, I used XP to download a lot of "stuff".

No pirating... nope... not me... nuh-uh...

  • in place of restricting yourself get LINUX(free, ubuntu may be) and keep it for surfing internet (install it on dual mode), keep windows for general use. Thats it enjoy everything ;-) and keep your LINUX for personal use, get family use windows so that all your secret files remain their and you enjoy internet to its limit.. :D

  • Don't thumb this down. This is just a joke! xD

  • Most of the people i meet on my line of work, are those who complain that i sold them a broken window... :-p I learn to say to them in a polite way... (Hey man, shit happens... i told you not to browse porn and install limewire.... but you just keep puting shit on you PC...) so after thes conversation they pay up to 60 euros to fix them... but they always comming back... lol :-)

  • litteraly?

  • Apples are more healthy,

windows are open for virusses (get it, open window.... open windows.... things go into open windows....)

  • Maybe that explains why OS X is the last to get crucial java updates, leaving their operating system wide open to hackers.

  • Crucial updates to Sun Java implementation?

But wait, Sun doesn't do it for macs, it's Apple who implements JRE/JDK for OS X!

  • Haha, this is true. Doesn't change the fact that there is security flaws in all operating systems. Mac users seem to think they are immune from hackers and malware. This is far from correct.

  • Lol.

  • lol while I disagree with the technical premise of your statement, I certainly do appreciate the puns :P

  • lulz macfags in comments

  • pft, children with emo music songs as their user name.

  • pft, kid who thinks my user name was named after an emo song.

  • douche lol.

  • yeah i go to IU and benefits of being a student is they let us download microsoft office 08 for free as well as norton 360, photo shop 7, and the latest adobe movie and photo editor for free and securely so if your a freshman in college and ever need these check your school's IT office they might have it for free if not discounted

  • u can do all of that shit on mac too, and result= user succses

  • Thank you! I'm not the only one who uses physical CDs!

  • I hate the retarded people calling Windows platform computers "PC's" Macintosh is a "Personal Computer" also. It just makes you sound like you don't know anything about computers. Instead of looking up "How to speed up your computer" (no offense Chris) How about fixing it? Registry check, spybot, adware, rootkit, remover tools, virus scanner like avast or just the windows one that comes stock that works perfect by it self. Having multiple virus scanners does nothing. having multiple SB ones does

  • Thats true but the times have changed... a mac is a PC but now adays PCs are referred to anything that runs windows... But macs are still technically pc's

  • you have not got a fukcing clue.watch the movie pirates of the silicon valley before you say a mac is a pc.pc was cloned from mac lisa.wanker.if anything steve copied from xerox.the mouse and front end.LAMER

  • oh no

  • Q:Ok you did not answer the guys question, All you did was tell me that you think PC is better by saying there's more viruses on PC because you think more people use PC over MAC, but you did not specify why I and so many MAC user's do not experience virus problems like many PC users (lol)..I download so much crap from the internet and look at porn every chance I get.!! Answer:Mac did not want to compromise there OS like PC did, there's money in anti virus software and PC programmers know that!!!

  • Iment well done

  • Well fone

  • only download from trusted sites and do not download attached files from people your do not know..

  • Google announced that their new Chrome OS will see the end of malware.

Ill give it a few dyas after chromes OSs release until someone finds security flaws and backdoors in the operating system.

  • This guy has no idea what's going on. Coupons? Really? Torrenting is safe if you pay attention. Just dont be an idiot, not hard...

  • but i mean. REALY... would you pay 800$ for editing programs? the awnser is no. no matter how rich you are. you will! download sony vegas 8/9 for free in the next 5 hours after reading this comment.

  • as a Video editor, I will buy that $800 software legally.

$800 is only 1 or 2 project. I'm not rich but with my job, I can afford it. I can charge $1200 for one project.. and some project I only can make $400.

beside that, I have the software that registered under my name and get customer support if I have any problem with it.

If you are not a Video editor, don't get video editing software that you can't afford.

If you don't have money to buy it, stop comparing others with your condition.

  • Look for coupons ??? for software..hahahahahahahahahahahahah what a joke this guy is !!

I WILL GIVE YOU THE ADOBE FACTS !! I bought CS3 suite and now that CS4 is out, I called and said I want to upgrade to photoshop CS4 not the whole suite this time, the guy sad NOPE, that is considered a downgrade going from a suite to just photoshop. So I can upgrade to just photoshop for 199.00, I have to pay like 699.00. I also asked if you could buy the mac version for the upgrade..NOPE !!

  • dont use limewire

  • It's so addicting though. But I would never put Limewire on my Mac. Not even thinking twice about it.

  • Has this guy been bought by the industry or what?

  • I suspect the same.. He is either a mac fanboy or bought by mac.

  • Macs are awesome

  • Mac viruses: 0 (not counting a couple of trojans)

    Window viruses: hundreds of thousands

Ratio does not correspond to market share ratio...

  • so true!

  • LMAO @ someone in the chatroom:

"Plus apples are healthier to eat than windows."

    xDDD

  • dude people don't have money

  • The ps3 os is free of viruses, it can't read .exe
