@ThroneMonkey It's filmed on a still digital camera, a Sony Cybershot DSC-W55. The picture on them isn't actually great in low light, even for still photos, but the sound is extremely clear (if mono) for a small camera. Not sure how the more recent Cybershots compare, mines about 2 years old.

Ireland has a huge 'indie' scene, and folks like Owen Pallet and Joanna Newsom consistently sell out several hundred seat shows. Not sure about the UK or the states, but while she certainly wouldn't get played on commercial radio here (nothing good does), she wouldn't be considered obscure at all.

To be fair, this was a party for an Irish music magazine - which closed shortly after. Everyone knew each other, everyone was a huge fan of both Owen and Joanna Newsom, and everyone was pissed. I don't think Owen minded too much. He had a great time afterward dancing along to Girl Talk (check out my other vids, he's in the crowd leaping around).
