  • Dassayev - best keeper I ever saw

  • @boosra Dassayev might have been the best keeper around, but even he could not stop Elkjaer!

  • The Elkjaer and Laudrup show!

  • It's amazing, two of the best European teams in the 80's across the highest level, today being a fraud, for example the Champions League final

  • Hail Elkjaer!!! One of my Favourite players ever!!

  • 84-86 = Best danish team of all times, even though 92 and 98 were great too. In Mid 80's, Danmark was playing one of the most attractive football. Some passing of the ball are really in the same mood as dutch "Total Voetbal" from Ajax, or like Liverpool Pass & Move philosophy.

  • Elkjaer was one hell of a finisher, for Denmark and Verona!

  • remember that denmark was missing Michael Laudrup in 1992, who is arguably the best danish player ever and one of the best of all times but sometimes the team just works better without the stars (not to forget that denmark had a great deal of luck in 1992) :)

  • @1234xenia1234 I'd agree with that. But what about Elkjaer! would you not agree that he was just as good as well?

  • two of my favourite teams of the 80s!pure entertainment and great players with flair!

denmark 84 and 86 were awesome, but were in decline by the 88 euros!ussr were great all through the 80s,mainly 86 and 88,great stuff!

  • 25 grader og så var der øl strejke..

  • seriøst!? :O

  • helt seriøst... bajerne kostede 25 kr hvis man kunne skaffe nogen og det var altså en slat den gang

  • Lyder da pissetræls..

  • One of the great games. I used to love that Danish team - fantastic side.

  • What was the attendance at this match?? It looks like half of Denmark is there! I love the way Denmark every so often look like the best team in the world, yet somehow a less than brilliant side in 92 won in Sweden. The sides in 86 and 98 was far superior in many respects!

  • Well, you're wrong.

True, USSR won in Moscow, but only 1-0. And Denmark finished first with 11 points and USSR second with 10 points.

  • Yes Denmark 11 USSR 10 Switzerland 8 Republic of Ireland 6 Norway 5

Of course Denmark then very fortunately defeated Scotland 1-0 in the finals tournament with a Scotland goal by Aitken wrongly disallowed.

However Denmark were an excellent side and better than the Belgium team that got to the semi finals

  • This obviously shows that Denmark is stronger than the USSR!

  • Thabjs for sharing this wonderful video of one heck of a match.

I had tickets for this, but culdn't go - it's one of the very few things I regret to this day. Ah well...*shrugs* :o)
