  • This cartoon would never be allowed in today's ridiculously politically correct crap of a society.

  • u can tell this is old, its cute though lol

  • Yep , in my 1960s kidhood , these were shown on kids' time TV !!!!!!!!! Can you imagine , by today's kids' show standards ?

  • gunna sind dis songg to my frand

  • Walt Disney said his movies were for adults; Trix are not just for kids.

  • Great Stuff!! Learned a lot of Great Old Tunes from this!! Lost today. I feel sorry for kids who've never seen this sort of thing. Sat Morns were a Great Time!!

  • i Also love how they give everybody a chance by themselves and make a little game out of the song. Absolutely Brilliant

  • I love the bouncing ball!

  • Another melody identified. Cool!

Faces with only mouths exposed at the chorus are a smidge creepy

  • this is another lyric :

my wife and i lived all a lone in a lil log nut we called our own

she loved gin and i love rum

i tell u that we'd lots of fun hahahahehehe u and me

lil brown jug dont i love thee hahahaheheeh

    u and me

lil brown jug dont i love thee

  • @aurelialicious i know of a CD with kids singing this song with those lyrics. i believe the song on that CD goes like this,

my wife and i lived all a lone in a lil log nut we called our own

she loved gin and i love rum

i tell u that we'd lots of fun hahahahehehe little brown jug dont i love thee?

hahahahehehe little brown jug tis you and me.

when i go to work, on my farm, little brown jug is under my arm. i placed it under a shady tree. little brown jug tis you and me!

  • anyone know where i can find the screen song with "ain't she sweet?" in it??

  • It had been so long since i saw this but i woke up this afternoon thinking about "follow the bouncing ball"

  • LOVE LOVE LOVE! My childhood relived again. :)

  • A song about my favorite pasttime: Getting hammered.

  • old cartoons vs modern cartoons = Old cartoons rule!

  • @sniperhell124

    Heck yeah ! ^^

  • I remember seeing these on TV as a kid and not quite getting them. I didn't realize they were meant to be shown in a theater, for adults. Imagine being in a theater full of people singing along and laughing and having a great time. But that was a time when going to the movies was an event; you dressed up and were on your best behavior at all times. We could use more of that attitude today...

  • this is just creepy

  • when did cartoons become "just for kids?"

  • @younghippo I'd say some point after they went colored. Then I think people began associating Disney cartoons with kids (as opposed to Betty Boop and Felix The Cat). Could also have stemmed from the lack of physics in Looney Tunes cartoons. It'd always been that way, but adults realized gravity existed in the real -- aka "adult" -- world.

Anime partly brought cartoons back to adults, but I think Don Bluth played a part. I respect him the most out of all the Western animators.

  • @younghippo Ever seen Watership Down or Plague Dogs? Their both here, in full, on Youtube. My grandma was talking about this kind of thing yesterday. She mentioned that her grandmother, that's my great great grandma, I suppose, used to laugh the loudest when The Three Stooges came on before movies. Wish I coulda met her, she used to play the piano for the silent movies too. Coolest job ever.

  • Play this at an A.A. meeting and see how it goes over.

  • @Newtwist75 Play this at a Modern Drunkard Magazine convention and they'll probably sing in multi-part harmony.

  • @MrUnidyne thats only if anyone is left standing after the open bar.

  • 'Happy herberts nose was, walking zig zagged undisturbed' Alex ferguson fits that description.

  • Ha Ha Ha ...Hee Hee Hee Little brown jug and I love thee!!!!! WOOOOOOOW!!!

  • This was made back when going to the movies was really a treat. Not only did you see the movie, but you got a lot of short films before it, like a newsreel, a cartoon, and something like this. Nowadays you have previews, reminders to turn off your cell phones, be quiet during the movie, about refreshments in the lobby, and now they do ads for TV shows in the theater. I wish they'd get rid of the ads, and bring back the cartoon shorts and sing-alongs. Would make going to the movies more fun.

  • @PatrickRsGhost Totally! personally speakin, i never got to see these played on a big screen, but i can see it now, and its awesome.

  • @PatrickRsGhost you're a fucking faggot dude

  • How creepy is the past....I mean wtf? Awesome yet strange ever so slightly.

  • Ah yes...the good ol days when you could make a cartoon related to drinking and parents didn't whine and complain, lol.

  • Indeed ^_^

  • Darn, sorry I clicked the thumbs down when I went to hit "reply" - I would've given you a thumbs up!

  • @matrix86 One thing you have to remember is that a lot of the cartoons made during the time this was made (1930s and 1940s) were geared more towards an adult audience. Adults were more likely to see a movie in the theater than a kid would, hence most of these being shown along with the newsreels and other similar items. People complain about the violence in the classic cartoons, but they fail to realize these were more adult-oriented, whereas most cartoons today are kid-oriented.

  • The singing heads remind me of that one shel silverstein poem...where the guy had a bunch of heads.

  • Used to sing this back at primary school!

  • Laughing my butt off! That was great!

  • What's the name of these kind of cartoon? Who create it?

  • It wasn't really a kid's cartoon, they showed these in cinemas before movies to get the audience geared up. They weren't really made for children to watch.

  • @lyris1 that explains my drinking at 13 ......lmao
