Many of the pictures and video show abandoned homes and businesses, this truly is what the city of Niagara Falls looks like and if I were to guess I'd estimate that about 70% of the city is empty structures! I like niagara falls new york,the people are very nice.The sencea casino is also better than the ones on the canadian side.I'm canadian won about 400 at sencea went to fallsview,the cashier thought i was american and ripped me off 150 dollars due to taxes.Believe me people on the New York side are nicer..
the city didn't fall apart because of Love canal or because of Toxic waste it fell apart because all the jobs went south and oversees, notably because NY state taxes are rediculous, and The US has a policy of giving away American jobs. the 1970's took a toll on NF and Love Canal didn't help. I went to NF several years ago. & found one street where there were a least three minor department stores that I'm sure in 1960 were beautiful. Now not ONE business occupies that street all FOR RENT.
This portrays the bad parts of the city but there are some real nice places too. The city needs alot of work and that is painfully obvious but to all the people who just complain fix it go to school make good money, start a business, run for a office in the city and if you can't do that you can always volunteer your time and organize things to clean it up yourself. If you don't do anything but complain your just another ugly thing taking up space in the city.
The sad state of the American side may have something to do with the great view of the falls from the Canadian side, which has promoted tourism in Niagara Falls, ON. That's why the Canadian side is booming and the American side is.... not so much.
I watched them all, man I lived everywhere from E.Falls to Cleveland Ave., and every where in between. went to North Jr. High, most of my home boys are dead or in Attica or upstate somewhere, once again thanks Bro..I am grateful beyond belief and will always remember NF as it was once was..~Peace~

Love Canal wasn't the only thing to hit the city, look at buffalo it has just as bad parts of it. Most of this is caused by NY state taxes, Crack, and just bad government. Love Canal sure didn't help anything, but there was bad parts long before it all went down.

This is especially visible from the train from Buffalo to N.F. NY. Nothing but closed factories and abandoned railbeds all the way. I remember railyards full of trains (good) and lots of really interesting, colourful air pollution (bad, but fascinating to the kind of child I was) on both sides of the river. The casino came in and started buying people's houses out down in that area. One of those houses is MY old house. I think that just showing the bad parts of Niagara Falls is kind of stupid. Yes, we have our fair share of abandoned houses and poverty but there is also alot of good that comes from this city. The Canadian side isn't much better. You go three blocks in from the falls on the Canadian side and it is a crappy area too. But the Ontario side is still much better.

I don't believe it's deceptive at all. Every single one of those pictures was taken within the city limits of Niagara Falls. Each house has a city of Niagara Falls New York address, I did not drive to Detroit or New Orleans to take any of those pictures.
As far as tourism goes, the complete LACK of activities on the American side has a LOT more to do with any decrease in tourism than any youtube video. And as a matter of fact Ive heard that there has been an increase in tourists over the past few years. Which kinda nullifies the ol "you're hurting tourism" argument.

I grew up in Lewiston, close to the Falls and have seen almost every building in this video. That gang writing on the garage doors was right across from my ex girlfriends apartment in NF. Sad state of affairs in this area. Moving to Mendecino CA in a year or so. I have had enough. Live in Williamsville but still not happy. sad. I feel bad leaving but its not getting any better.

Many of the pictures and video show abandoned homes and businesses, this truly is what the city of Niagara Falls looks like and if I were to guess I'd estimate that about 70% of the city is empty structures! the city didn't fall apart because of Love canal or because of Toxic waste it fell apart because all the jobs went south and oversees, notably because NY state taxes are rediculous, and The US has a policy of giving away American jobs. Plus you need some shots of downtown and Pine avenue where things arent as crummy, I would say your movie has selection bias. BUT I'm not saying you aren't pointing out a legit fact about the city those factory's have been sitting there for years.

Love Canal wasn't the only thing to hit the city, look at buffalo it has just as bad parts of it. Most of this is caused by NY state taxes, Crack, and just bad government. Love Canal sure didn't help anything, but there was bad parts long before it all went down.

This is especially visible from the train from Buffalo to N.F. NY. Nothing but closed factories and abandoned railbeds all the way. I remember railyards full of trains (good) and lots of really interesting, colourful air pollution (bad, but fascinating to the kind of child I was) on both sides of the river. The casino came in and started buying people's houses out down in that area. One of those houses is MY old house. I think that just showing the bad parts of Niagara Falls is kind of stupid. Yes, we have our fair share of abandoned houses and poverty but there is also alot of good that comes from this city. Niagara Falls has some of the worst poverty in America, if it were Buffalo's size it would have even more poverty than Buffalo. By rate its actually worse. I know what Im talking about. Even the United Nations talks about poverty in WNY. Stop sugarcoating everything.

As i said, IM PROUD OF WHERE I COME FROM! I dont sugar coat anything. Yes we have our fair share of problems but my family has been in that poverty pool, you cant place sole blame on the govern ment and all that...And Ive seen ALOT worse poverty than niagara falls.

As far as American poverty Niagara Falls is among the worst. True that no where in the states compares to Uganda but NF is top rank in America. Dont gimme that "it could be worse" garbage. I could do a 2 hour documentary on the messed up conditions and struggles of people in Niagara Falls. Go plant a flower if you're so mad. lol

@DrFunky4 It's the people at the top there that are keeping NF down. Taxes are too high there, and there are too many people with the same last name running the city and schools, and doing it inefficiently! Time to clean house in Niagara Falls! That city needs new leadership that works, cause the power structure already in place ISN'T!

Yes good idea, take a look at that Pink Floyd site, there you will see what «instigating» means. You write something, fuji will pounce at ya. PS of course it's a rhetoric figure of speech to call those images «the real Niagara Falls». This is totally legitimate and no stranger reading this would assume that all of Niagara Falls looks like this. It's legitimate, and important too, because very often authorities are trying to hide problem zones behind some fake «Potemkin village».

I know that fuji guy. He lives in a dream world and loves Dave Gilmour, that may serve to explain his state of mind, and endless infighting is his speciality.
Where I live (Europe) there isn't one single house that looks like those in your video. So if even only a part of Niagara Falls looks like this, it is kind of disturbing.
In parts of eastern Germany there are similar problems, cities have lost half of their population, but the government is active and huge parks are created.

The Canadian side isn't much better. You go three blocks in from the falls on the Canadian side and it is a crappy area too. But the Ontario side is still much better.

what are you talking about, i never said you're hurting tourism! i'm just talking about this deceptive video, "The Real Niagara Falls" with the scary metal music....no one's hiding anything, i know much of the city is dumpy looking and there's crime, like any other city....surely you don't help matters with these panoramic slumscapes, since when is it a big secret.....you call it the real Niagara but to me it's only one sided, fine, give your opinion but don't deceive..that's what this is..sorry

I've encountered people like fijivoo before. They sit on a nice block and to them all the problems of the other people who are struggling in the city disappear. This video is for the entire WORLD to see, not just local residents. And in a round about way you acted like this video would hurt tourism by saying "if I saw this video i wouldnt wanna visit." so save it. Like I said, the massive majority of NF vids are positive, as are the massive amount of vids on my youtube profile. Click 1 of those

Its the real Niagara Falls thats being hidden. By people like you that like to sugarcoat everything. Like I said, there are a million videos out there showing the Pleasantville viewpoint of Niagara Falls you only want to see. Dont watch my video then its as simple as that. I don't believe it's deceptive at all. Every single one of those pictures was taken within the city limits of Niagara Falls. Each house has a city of Niagara Falls New York address, I did not drive to Detroit or New Orleans to take any of those pictures.

As far as tourism goes, the complete LACK of activities on the American side has a LOT more to do with any decrease in tourism than any youtube video. And as a matter of fact Ive heard that there has been an increase in tourists over the past few years. Which kinda nullifies the ol "you're hurting tourism" argument.

i didn't deny anything, but you can go to any city and go around to all the worst areas and paint a terrible picture, play scary metal music, sorry i didn't use adequate terms..i can make a video of all the nicer areas and use a pretty musical soundtrack and make people think Niagara is wonderful, but i wouldn't be realistic either, so in all fairness, there should be a balance...

I grew up in Lewiston, close to the Falls and have seen almost every building in this video. That gang writing on the garage doors was right across from my ex girlfriends apartment in NF. Sad state of affairs in this area. Moving to Mendecino CA in a year or so. I have had enough. Live in Williamsville but still not happy. sad. I feel bad leaving but its not getting any better.
