  • What program are you using for record?

  • either link for models dosent work or my computers screwed up so anyone have a different link

  • I have 2.61, and I don't seem to have the Rigify Button. Any ideas?

  • @creamgravy1 You have to activate this feature under File -> User Preferences -> Addons -> Rigging: Rigify (4th to last option) check the box and save the preferences (and maybe do a restart of Blender) ...happy rigging!

  • @GWizofKOz Thanks man, appreciate a lot!

  • Many many thanks for the video ;)

How to you change/edit an envelopes size/range at one end of the bone only? I cant stop my rig from deforming the rib area under the arms when i animate arms flapping! side ribs get squished into the body! Advice would be great please ;)

  • didnt get what u did in how to skin it..

  • Thank you for this good tutorial!

  • Hi..How is your meta rig so big? cause mine is really small :(

  • @frodo640 fixed, it appears I had an old link that may have redirected to a new page and probably wasn't redirecting for you.\

  • Thanks.

I see the basics of rigify.

Is there a more formal documentation?

    Such as layers and controls?

  • can i do this with Blender 2.5(no alpha beta.....)

  • @SK1PTER yep, all recent versions

  • ? How do set the cursor on the Object

  • @XIWoIoWIX Shift + S

  • Please help. I did everything and then when I use the rigify generate. It says error , incorrect bone configuration... : (

  • @dooberry20 thats a new one to me, want to show me a screen shot of the rig so far?

  • @Jjannaway3D Sure, I just took an actual screen shot. It shows the error message too, after I clicked the generate button. How can I send you the file?

  • @dooberry20 you can email me at jjannaway@gmail.com

  • Doesn't work for me. I hit rigify at the end and all that comes up is like an incomplete wireframe spine. Please help

  • In my experience if you curve the fingers in the modelling process... just like you put a bit of bend in the elbows and Knees... then when you rigg the fingers you will automatically place the finger bones in a curved default setting and that will solve some of the problems above...

  • thanks for the tutorial,

  • You have some horrible audio and static in ur vid. Other than that good tut.

  • @Jjannaway3D Please, please, please help me!

    I have a problem.

I don't have a full character, I only have hands, like in a FPS game and so I used the rigify, but when I have placed the bones where they should be I hit GENERATE and something happens but I don't see those orange lines that you have and I can't move my model like you do after generating those bones on your model.

Thanks looking forward to your answer!

  • i always got error when i try it....

  • @prince94845 sorry, when you try to open the model? You have to import it because it's a .obj file. You can do that with File > Import > Wavefront(.obj)

  • @Jjannaway3D also could you tell the link to get image obj, svg, and so on ?

  • @prince94845 if you click 'show more' in the video description you'll see a link to the model pack I used.

  • @Jjannaway3D i have opened it but that link have been closed sir......

  • @prince94845 make sure each finger has more than 2 bones.

  • Is there a way for this rig to have his feet planted to the floor?, when I translate the pelvis bone down the knees would bend?

  • @jesuslessed yes, select any of the bones on the legs in the properties panel (N) you'll find an ik/fk slider, slide it all the way to 1 and the ik legs should start working.

  • @Jjannaway3D - Having the same problem. And I don't see an IK/FK slider. Using version 2.6

  • Now we're cooking!!

  • @antisonicteam you should probably rotate your model to face the opposite direction before rigging it.

  • For some reason, I can't get the model to pose. The bones move like they should, but the model doesn't move.

Any idea as to what I'm doing wrong, or do you need more information?

  • @phillippi2 sounds like you haven't skinned the model to the armature or are in edit mode for the armature. I skin the mesh to the armature using automatic weights at about 10:30

  • @Jjannaway3D I did automatic weights too. But, I figured out I need to split the mesh into vertex groups for it to skin.

  • im pissed because i tried to do rigify for a sora model and its not wanting to stick to the character for some reason can anyone help with this problem.

  • where did you get that file from? i dont have it

  • @princekiry2 what file are you referring to ? the character model? there is a link in the description to where you can download it.

  • @Jjannaway3D ok, are there anymore character models? models that are physically proportional??

  • @princekiry2 you can model your own characters to your specifications if you want. There are websites like turbosquid where you can download other models, or even just hit up google. You can import .obj and .3ds easily into blender.

  • @Jjannaway3D ok nice! thats just what i needed ta know

  • Respond to this video... awww u gotta buy em?

  • Little help, please, kind sir. I followed what you did in your tutorial, but when I try to pose it, one bone will affect another bone. For example, if I try to move the shoulder, the entire arms moves and then part of the leg on that side of the body starts to get affected by it. Pretty much, none of the limbs work properly and the entire body gets contorted. Only the fingers seem to work the best, yet they are still far from what I intend. Thanks in advance.

  • @KearoNasanam Hard to say exactly what your issue may be. Might be that you accidentally parented some bones together or even set ik on all of the bones. Try again with a fresh file without hitting anything else. You can send your file to me if you want me to have a quick look at it if you want, jjannaway@gmail.com Good luck!

  • @Jjannaway3D i am amazed by how quickly you responded. I'll be sure to send the file to you. I'm not sure if this would contribute to the problem, but I have the arms down instead of outward like how the model in the video is. Then again, that wouldn't explain as to how the head gets messed up.

  • why wont myb rigify button show up at the bottom of my rigging options? It seems to end stop at Custom Properties. Thanks for the amazing tutorial

  • @MisterBojanglezzz hard to say, what version of blender are you using? Works fine for me in 2.57b. Make sure you have rigify enabled in user preferences like I show you at the start of the video.

  • at 9:30 you set the coursor? what key did you press to do that?

    Awesome tutorial BTW!

  • @MisterBojanglezzz Shift + S to set the cursor. Glad you like it :)

  • ive only got the option of adding one simple bone, how do i change that

    plz help

    thank you^^

  • @Kakutachi sounds like you don't have rigify enabled, I show you how to do that right at the start. You might have to save your file and close and open it again to get the checkbox to work

  • awesome, thank you. very helpful and timely or me.

  • id understand whats for..this programe

  • @Opeystat there are two controls in the same spot for the feet. If you right click twice you should select the ik control. Make sure you turn the ik constraint on in the n panel.

  • @Opeystat I think that's because when setting up the rig I put the ankle where the ankle is on the model. If you want the control on the floor try putting the ankle on the floor. I prefer the controls a little high, makes it harder to loose the control through whilst animating. Good luck!

  • Thank you! it realy helped me!

  • this looks soooooo much cleaner than the MHX rigs. they are a headace.

  • is 2.5 complete now?

  • @gunhugger16 it is still in beta, the latest official release is 2.57 release candidate 3. 2.5 is mostly feature complete, it is a little unstable but it is still very usable. 2.6 will be the first 'complete' release, though as I'm sure you know blender will probably never be 'complete' and new stuff will constantly be developed.

  • @Jjannaway3D thanks for the reply and long live blender

  • thank for that great news, i think great.

  • are the models not supposed to come with textures?

  • Hello again. I have a slight problem. When i turn on the IK slider i get some slight deformations on the left arm. How do i fix this?

    Thanks.

  • Thanks for the tutorial. Now I can rig my characters easier and faster.

  • Great tutorial. Does it matter where in the 3d space i put the mesh?

  • @neverhoodyn yes, once you hit generate the rig is always created standing on the center of the world. It is also good practice because in a production you'll be linking to lots of rigs and it helps massively to always know exactly where the character is going to appear once you link it into the file.

  • Hey Jaimie. thanks for making this! The only thing that would make this easier to follow along is posting the link to the CG Society page with Proton's model pack. Awesome tutorial bud. Cheers.

  • @Unhurdof1 Consider it done! Check the video's description.

  • So thank's
