  • Great video!

  • Thank you for talking about EU, i really enjoyed listening, but i was far more concerned, if not insulted, that You have mentioned holocaust and germans but skipped through russian period where russians annihilated hundred thousands of the population, massively taking them to siberia, KGB domination, etc. There is not a single person that wasn't influenced on relatives being taken away.

Again, thank You for making these video

  • A United States of Europe? What a quaint notion.

One good thing about states is that they don't wage wars against each other but they have come close.

Example: In 1931 the states of Oklahoma and Texas almost warred over a toll gate built on a bridge spanning the Red River. The governor of Oklahoma, Bill Murray, ordered the Oklahoma National Guard to shoot anyone who prevented traffic flowing from Oklahoma into Texas.

The bad part about EU is that it may obscure national identities.

  • It's quite nice to hear someone from England talking about Lithuania but I'm lithuanian and I have noticed some historical errors. The Molotov - Ribentrop pact was signed secretly in 1939 of August 23. Then whole Lithuania was in Hitler's influence sphere. But then, when Hitler and Stalin attacked Poland, Hitler had too much of Poland's territory, so Lithuania had been given to the Soviet Union.

  • Thank you for a nice comment on Lithuania :) it was very interesting to hear about us from the side ;)

  • It is a really good idea to make these videos about every EU member state, congrats! Just a few things to say - Lithuania formally regained its independence not in 1920 but in 1918, Feb 16th, and then in 1990 it was the first country in the Soviet Union to declare its independence, not in 1994 as it can be understood.

  • 3:00 why does everybody think that only hitler did bad things to people ? so did soviets . . .

  • united states of europe :D yeah, states of

    europe :D

  • But Poland is oppressing Lithuania and we don't have our stolen lands back yet (Talking about Gardinas,Karaliaučius,Palenkė,Naugardukas). We won't buy into this.

  • @DelTevynes when Karaliaucius was the part of Lithuania? since when it's lithuanian?

  • @pashamor It belonged to a Baltic group called the old prussians and in 1944 almost a majority of the population was Lithuanian,it was never Russian or German(before their colonization that is)

  • @DelTevynes old prussian tribes have nothing to do with lithuanian state, it's like checks and polish people or norwegian and swedish. lithuanians were coexisting with germans, but were minority living in the rural areas, not in the cities. in every country you can find national minorities - in vilnius polish people, in finland swedesh people etc. but it really doesn't give you the right to name kaliningrad/koenigsberg ethnic lithuanian land. it just looks pathetic.

  • @pashamor it has Prussia and Lithuania is wery close by blood and culture... wtf u talking? now prussians are polonized and russianized (or how to say that )

  • @PvPcleric Prussia was a german state with dominant german population, do not muddle it with ancient prussian tribes, it's not the same. though you are right - we all are europeans and very close to each other, french, german, polish etc.

  • @PvPcleric by the way prussians dissapeared in 17 century, so what cultural heritage they shared with lithuanians? just can't understand why would kaliningrad be ethnic lithuanian land? just because some old baltic tribes lived there? or it constituted lithuanian minority?

  • @pashamor not kalingrand its just part of it there always lived lithuanians even now some lives. your question is bad about prussia, yes it dissapeared but for 7 centurys lithuania and prussia was very close in culture language and over stuff but we were at war :) its realy long story ... just sayin that prussian and lithuanians are very close we even singed prussian songs anyways try to find info on internet u will get facts i cant remmber evrything...
