Ah , happen to watch the recently released DVD and , well , not really any good !! JC's film is by far the best of the bunch ! '51 film was ultra Cheap and amateurishly acted ! 2011 film - was no real suspense , didn't care for women leading the film . Or the special effects ! JC's film had it all -suspense , chills better acting and special effects,Gore Etc. !!! In fact I just bought the recently Re - Released Movie Soundtrack By Morricone and it's is Awesome !!! to go with The DVD I have !

I saw it last night im suprised of how good it was it's a must have for sc-fi or horror fans.

It's a prequil all about the first camp attacked that Kurt Russle visited before his own camp was attacked. Similar formula to Alien with the woman playing the lead role and being ignored about her worries about what they find.

What many here ignore is that Carpenters version is already kind of a remake. The "Thing" in 1951, was invulnerable, fireproof and very, very evil. Actually it was a disguised man who was killed at the end by electric shock. If you want to see the "Real Thing", check the vid "Thing" on my channel.

The things i liked about this movie: The thing a little more initiative about killing humans and surviving - When in human disguise it actually tried to get pit everyone against everyone, not just passively wait to be discovered.

Special effects were more convincing than in original.... but they are SUPPOSED to be, it`s fucking 21 century.

The way they connected beginning of the original movie, i felt acquainted.

It's a prequel... if you recall, right at the beggining of the 1980's movie, they are chasing a dog which turns out to be "The Thing" The movie is showing what happened to the people who were chasing the dog.
