  • Never happened to me but i have been told stories of bikers being refused entry to the building with a helmet on. Even if its just to walk to the cashier and pay in cash for the fuel.

  • I generally don't have any problems on my 125cc Yamaha, in the UK the only problem i've had is people try to rush you and that irritates me!

  • 1) Welcome to motorcycling.

    2) Nice bike.

    3) I never had a problem with filling up when I had my Vulcan 900LT. (Maybe it was the half-helmet? They could see my face on the cameras.)

    4) Are you sure the problem isn't with the card themselves? (Have you tried using them when filling the car?)

    5) If these were already said, I apologize. I lose interest in threads when people start bickering with each other in YOUR comments. (Take it somewhere else people!)

  • never had a problem

  • Nope never had a problem paying at the pump while on a bike

I have witnessed bikes being refused gas at the local Esso because the rider was sitting on the bike,While I was sitting on my bike pumping gas.lol

  • One possibility is that the attendant perhaps didnt notice you? I think they have to switch it on from inside the office each time someone wants gas. Not sure but it's a thought. It's the old invisible biker syndrome again.

  • Just get off your bike to gas it up. I don't know what the issue is other than this. I have never, not once, been refused gas. It's not because you're a rider, it's because you're sitting on your bike. Having worked at a gas station in the past, attendants must be, 'attentive' to possible drive-offs (a drive-off being a person who gasses up and takes off without paying). If you're sitting on your bike while gassing it, that sends a message to the attendant that you're thinking about taking off.

  • @stormagus5 The only problem with this argument is that I live in the same province as Rodney and of the thousands of times I've filled up....I've only ONCE been asked by the attendant to get off my bike (and I refused, so they started up the pump anyway). As for drive-offs, that seems more plausible. I usually pre-pay. Usually....but they've still never bothered me when I didn't pre-pay. Perhaps it's specific to the areas he's gassing up...maybe they have more issues there.

  • @adiebabe68 I also live in the same province as Rodney. So what say you now? I don't even take my helmet off. But I do get off my bike to gas it. And like I said, I have never, ever been refused gas.

  • @stormagus5 You've missed my point. You stated 'just get off your bike'. I'm saying, in all the times I've gassed up in Ontario, I've only ever been asked to get off once...and I refused to and was still allowed to pump gas there. My second point was agreeing with you...perhaps you missed that as well?

  • @adiebabe68

Holy attitude considering I haven't given you any. But then again, this is the Internet where everyone is a tough guy behind a keyboard. *eye roll*

  • @stormagus5 PM sent :)

  • Welcome to motorcycling.

Bummer 'bout the gas issue. Never had that issue here in Cali.

    Ride safe.

  • ahhh ya lol hahaha

  • Never had this problem, most likely an issue with either your card (i.e. improper insertion, not readable, etc) or the pump is in some way not functioning correctly.

I find it hard to believe that they have to capability to have the pump recognize your on a motorcycle. Have you tried refueling in a car at these locations? I would bet that you'd run into the same issue.

I think its absurd to jump to the conclusion that they are refusing service to you because your on a motorcycle.

  • People who steal credit/debit cards almost always go to a gas station first to determine if the card works.

Credit and debit card companies often times closely watch, and closely guard activity that happens at gas stations. Maybe it's because you're using a gas station "outside" you're normal area that the card is refused?

  • This is just one more reason why people should go electric, and stop using gas ALTOGETHER! I plan on getting a Brammo Empulse when it comes out. Next time you are refused gas, call the police. What if the bike was completely out of gas and unable to move?

  • @jadamek237 True enough. If you were out of gas and the gas station refused you gas, you'd have to call the police. I wonder has that happened to anyone.

  • I've ridden for over 9 years & have never had that happen to me lol Just been told to take my helmet off before they turn the pump on thats all. Maybe they know who you are & just dont like you? :P They might want a free graphics card!

  • I've had a place right down from my house, that after 6pm here in SC(South Carolina), who will not turn on the pump without prepay, So I would always make sure to fill up in the morning time, cause with the changing gas prices, I never truly knew what a tank was gonna cost me, but I've not had anyone refuse me for gas. but my scooter never took more then $5/$6 worth of gas at most, and around my small town would last me about 2 weeks sometimes.

  • Doesn't happen to me over here in Texas.

  • Here in the USA, I've never come across that problem and I've filled up at a lot of places.

  • Did they say why they refused you? Did you ask them why? IF this ever happened to me I would never go back to that place.

Don't want to give me service, I won't give you a customer.

  • As a former bike owner myself, I never had a problem with being refused fuel here in Alabama. Could it be possible that the gas station has some special credit card service that your bank card doesn't agree with? Because here, when you insert your card its instant authorization no interaction with cashier required, If the card is valid and not over the limit it starts the pump automatically, and allows you to select your octane rating and fuel up! I would check with my bank first and foremost!

  • This has never happened to me before. It does seem like a strange thing to happen.

  • This happens in rural Manitoba as well on; Bikes, Sleds (Winter) and Quads.

they make you remove your helmet, until you do so, they will not allow you to pump gas.

some stations have signs about this on them, other's don't, perhaps its something to look into?

  • I've never heard of this happening. But keep in mind that some stations are operated independently, albeit under the veil of those big companies. I've only encountered strange behavior in service in seedy areas where there is an expectation of crime of some sort.

  • wait how many channels do you have?

  • Ha! they're probably trying to discourage people from filling up vehicles that dont use very much gas. If you pull up in a car that needs $40 to fill up I bet they would have no problem. I cannot relate though because I do not drive motor bikes. That sounds very strange.

  • I have not seen any bikes in the USA, Colorado to be exact and I don't see them get refused at all.

  • Rodney, here in the UK when filling up with fuel you have to remove your helmet so that your face is on camera. In fact most stores i visit won't serve me if i walk in with my helmet on which, if i am in a rush REALLY gets on my nerves. Nice bike by the way!

  • @spoonserver Yea, having to remove your helmet is a pain, but kinda of understandable, I guess. Although, what about religious facial dress, like the burka? Women wearing burkas are not going to be asked to remove them and even if they were, they won't. Don't get me started on removing helmets. I'll have it for another rant video... lol

  • @InternetDistraction Having to remove my helmet when getting fuel doesnt really bother me. If I worked at a fuel station, I dont think I would want people coming in with helmets on.

  • You know I live in Ontario in Canada and even in pioneer I regularly see bikers filling up gas even the people with the hells angels image you were talking about, I don't know what's going on with you man , if you lived in the states I'd tell you to go to BP they could use the money after their last oil spill, lol.

  • trololol
