You're doing great. I don't really see anything you are doing wrong. Your back is right, your legs are right, your movement is right.
Only thing I see that I would change (only for myself) is the lenth of the reigns. Those look kinda short, but that's just me. I don't ride the same style as you, remember? Most likely they are perfect for you, and I need to shut up. :)
Thanks! :) Yeah, my reins are shorter than I usually have them cause I mostly ride western. But my horse apparently thinks she's a steeple chaser and likes to try to gallop up to jumps lol. ;p
I thought they looked kinda short, but who am I to judge. Every one rides a little differant.
I was riding the other day and rode upon a bear in the path. My horse jumped up into the air, spun around, and hit the ground in a dead run going the other way. LOL. Thank god for saddle horns because that was the only reason I stayed on her. I bet she cleared 3 feet easy, and a perfect turn back, roll back, what ever you call it. She rode right back up the path too, after the bear was gone :)
Haha! Once my friend turned on a very loud weed wacker, and I was sitting on my horse a few feet away. She jumped about 10 feet sideways and started galloping the other way! It was one of those times where I'm not quite sure how I managed to stay on, cause I didn't think fast enough to grab the saddle horn lol. =/
I know what you mean. I didn't think about grabbing the saddle horn, I just did. Good thing too. It was really funny after my heart slowed back down. I think we scared the bear pretty bad too, because it took off down the side of the mountain, and lost it's footing and rolled about a 100 feet. I guess it came out worse than we did.
Just goes to show us that we have to be on our guard when riding. You never know what will happen next.
But I do love them, and riding them. So it's worth it.
@VonGoetzi I think they were bit long for English riding, but for a usual western rider they're not bad. I would say shorter reins and more leg (if you get what i mean by more leg)
so cute!
i love your pony!

Good job! Although you could bring your horse up to a working canter so its not a half canter half trot thing :)
