umm, u kno, the CHinese did use gunpowder as weapons nearly a thousand years ago, probably even further more. the point is tho, How can the Chinese import gunpowder weapons from North America, as alakasamsmart was thinking, possible if the most sophisticated parts of America at the time only began about 300 or so years ago? The only answer is that the Chinese didn't import them from America

Actually, China never focus on their weapon with Fire Power, they perfer more hand to hand combact. Only on seige where the Cannons would be in use. Even though China invented gunpowder, they use it on more.... artistic stuff, such as... fireworks

But... even though this movie claimed it to be Tang Dynasty, it isn't, it is at the end of the Tang Dynasty where the Tang had already fallen and many smaller countries were formed. Thus, the king in this movie is king of "Liang" not Emperor

There are opposing theories, some say fireworks didn't come about til the Song Dynasty but the Chinese themselves claim it to be the Han/Tang eras, and I believe them. China was hundreds of years ahead of the Greeks at one point.
