dont use split shot weights to keep your rig down. these are held to the line by crimping. creating a weak spot. if a fish happens to snap your line, gauranteed it will snap right where the split shot was applied. try using a weighted jig with the bait secured to it instead. position the bobber on the line according to the depth of the run you're working. estimate the depth, then adjust accordingly. dont just pick a random length. an excessively long leader will cause snags.
