@catraquinze He realeased all of his energy outward. It didn't hit him because his energy was traveling away from him. Since all of his energy left him, he practically dried up. It may not be the most clear explanation but the best way I can put it.

It would've been truly epic here if Vegeta had ascended to Super Saiyan 3 here, instead of self-destructing, and fighting Majin Buu in SS3. IF you guys remember, Vegeta was angry at Goku for giving up his life during the cell saga. He has a little speech where he says he isn't a warrior, like kakarot is.

I think this is one of the more emotional deaths in DBZ because he was trying to save his son and the world, as opposed to his first visit where he came to just get the Dragon balls. He really was controlling his own fate the moment he first decided to take on Buu, and this was his atonement for all the deaths that he's caused, imo

This is the second time Vegeta dies and the most epic. But everytime he dies its epic i mean look at when he died while fighting freeza and that whole speech he gave goku. If that didnt get you all choked up then idk what will. This death was literally the first time we see the good in his heart come to the surface. It really shows how changed he has become. Its a shame they never made Vegeta a stronger character

No "good" ever came from his heart during that speech. That's just Funimation rewriting the script to make him more sympathetic and marketable to kids. Vegeta was always an evil bastard, Frieza had nothing to do with that. If you watch the Japanese version or read the manga, Vegeta was ACTUALLY crying because he had to beg Goku (the one who he considers scum) to avenge the Saiyans.
