Really interesting video, for a photography course im doing we had 2 units on drawing, and learning how to draw in and around negative, or empty space
say, the triangle shape under a persons arm, with hands on hips.
It just makes life so much easier than drawing each individual part with no interrelation between body parts. torso, arms, legs, head. Its much easier to draw shapes around the parts...
I really liked it. I think I got a new way to draw things in the sense of personalizing it. i'll prolly never understand people that are afraid of naked people in art since we aren't born with clothes.
oh my gosh .. is nude people really that bothersome to people .. i mean im in highschool im going to be honest .. im immature .. but looking at this the only thing i can think is .. thats amazing and beautiful ... who cares if shes naked
It's awesome that you've got a good head on your shoulders. There's a difference between "naked" and "nude", and it seems that many people can't recognize the wonderful artistic difference. Sure, even an artistic nude can be arousing to people, but that's not why it's created. It's good you don't have that knee-jerk stuffy, prudish reaction to nudity... that's the only way the study the human form.
Also, there is a huge difference between nude and naked... you'll notice--if you already haven't--that American culture is very Puritan in it's response to nudity. Even tasteful nudity, as seen in art, like this, is condemned as evil and impure. And yet, the same people that would stop us from watching tasteful nudity in a film or at an art gallery are more than happy to let us see videos and films and pictures of gratuitous violence.
My point, of course, is that American culture essentially glorifies violence while trying to repress anything that is in the slightest way sexual, even if it's just artistic and not erotic. There is a difference between pornography and art... but some people don't see it.
If you're interested in finding out about how our "morals" are controlled by random soccer moms, then I recommend the film "This Film Is Yet Been Rated". It's fucking awesome
@prometheuszero9 i sketch nude pics and honestly it has massively helped improve my skill on drawing figures more accurately ... and some people look at them all freaked out and im like its art not porn and some people ask me to draw porn pics and im like no i draw art .. and it irritates me when people have these pervy comments .. because it really is beautiful
Wow...amazing dude. Just like you i like to view others artwork and i usually dont like it. But you my friend are good and i love your style. Keep the vids coming. Btw i draw by pencil and paper and would love to be able to use a program lile this to draw.
very nice. can you do a segment specifically on color theory? I have done some searches and I am usually just shown a color wheel and some explanations of it. I liked your brief explanations but I was hoping for more.
Hello Neil….watched your You-Tube vid here and found it very interesting. I totally agree that artistic creations should not attempt to emulate photo realism unless the art is being done for film production. Conceptual art should be a matter of imagination, with photographs being used for the help and inspiration. Thanks for your You-Tube tutorial here. I was ways enjoy what other creators are thinking when they do artwork…Z
@calibabay2 lol okay. i never said it wasnt.. i just feel like drawing these unreal sexy chicks with full lips and guns, or naked girls just kinda shows lack of diversity.
the way you customize your brush is amazing...I noticed you got those great looking highlights without using blending modes. that was impressive!

Drawing women is really difficult. They have a lot of details. I think the way you draw is perfect. Good job!
- I'm a woman too.

Also, why wouldnt you want to see brush strokes? They give texture and character to a painting. Not everything is smooth and squeaky clean.

@Fortist how come their always skanky?how come the body can never be used as a piece of art??
calibabay2 1 year ago
You probably are a tight ass and think "naked" = Skank.
There is a long disscussion about what is art and not, but fuck that, im not getting into it.
The body can be used as a piece of art. Depends on what you mean, because how you worded it is "Body parts as art."
